  1. While on Constellation last month, I noticed our FV lacked a door bell. The FVs on her sister ships have them. So the room service attendant used the hallway phone right across from our FV door to announce that our food was ready to be brought in.
  2. To give you an idea of how many passengers are affected by this coming change, here is one single data point. Below is a photo of a sheet that was in Constellation's galley during our Transatlantic cruise. It indicates which cabins ordered room service breakfast on that day--presumably by filling out the room service card (and not by calling it in on the morning of). I am guessing that the shaded cabin numbers were for hot breakfast orders (26 cabins) where the unshaded cabins were for continental breakfast (40 cabins). There are no suites on the list. Oct 31 was a sea day--our 5th sea day in fact--and the 15 night cruise was a little more than half over. I laughed when I saw that 3 cabins forgot to mark down what time they wanted their breakfast delivered.
  3. In principle, I agree with you. However in reality, I believe cruise fares are going higher and evidently we will be getting less service.
  4. I just checked my next 3 non-Galapagos sailings (Dec 2023, Apr 2024, Apr 2025) and the room service language is unchanged--for now. I restarted my app to be sure. We use room service for breakfast on every port day. And sometimes for lunch when we get back to the ship in the mid afternoon
  5. That's what we stayed in and we very much enjoyed it. It was one of the highlights of our entire trip including the cruise. You should verify what the minimum length stay is to reserve a Superior Double. I know of an individual who posted last month that he wanted to book one in Oct or Nov however 4 nights were required. Judging from their reservation calendar, I think 3 nights are required for this coming Jun. I know you are interested in 2024, you should just make sure you know what it is especially before buying your plane tickets.
  6. Good to hear that you enjoyed NYE! Celebrity does a nice job.
  7. You may find this thread useful and you may wish to ask your questions there as well:
  8. I would email them to find out how far in advance you can book a room and then mark that date. If you are interested in a Pantheon view, read their room descriptions as they are very clear which room classifications have the view. Their view rooms often require a minimum number of nights (e.g. 3 or 4 nights) which is another reason that you should book as far in advance as you can.
  9. I wonder if this service reduction would be limited to CL/RCL/NCL and that the premium lines such as Princess, HAL, and Celebrity would retain it.
  10. When we went on this trip in Dec 2016-Jan 2017, it was cool at Cape Horn, Ushuaia, and Puerto Madryn. Pretty warm at Punta del Este, Montevideo, Valparaiso, and Buenos Aires. Here is my trip review which has links to the Celebrity Today which had the weather temperatures printed on it.
  11. I found it difficult to arrange for independent tours for this cruise and so we bought several of our shorexes thru Celebrity (Puerto Montt, Ushuaia, Puerto Madryn) back in 2016. Be sure to read your Celebrity Today (Ushuaia) to see the exact early morning schedule for when Infinity passes the glaciers along the Beagle Channel.
  12. We were on Constellation last month for a 15 night sailing and had Early Seating (6 pm). We would show up between 6:00-6:15pm. No lines for us. I did not see if Select (Anytime) Seating had any lines since they entered the MDR one deck below.
  13. My expectation is that you should be getting a reduction in price and not OBC since you are not past the final payment date. You should be evaluating that vs the loss of the Elevate Package.
  14. We took this Infinity cruise six years ago over Christmas and enjoyed it immensely. None of us on this board expect you to sacrifice your enjoyment of the cruise because of live posting responsibilities. Have fun.
  15. Port schedules are not a great indicator on whether a cruise will happen or not even if you are looking the schedule on the official port website. If you see your ship listed, yes, that's a good thing. However if you don't see your ship listed, it could mean anything.
  16. The name changes but it's still Cat A1 at least according to Celebrity's deck plan
  17. Since this is before final payment, you should be able to get the price change. One exception to this is if your category is sold out then it is difficult to get the price change (often there is no price to see if the category is sold out). Obviously what is confusing is that A1 is Prime AquaClass, so it sound like Celebrity and your TA disagree on whether your cabin is sold out or not. However when I go to Celebrity's website and look at your Eclipse 2023-2024 holiday sailing, I see that there are many unsold A1 cabins. I would press this issue further with your TA because I think she is wrong about the sold out status of your cabin category.
  18. We used Marisa for the Roman Forum tour and our day trip to Ostia Antica. Those tours were excellent. I booked our Vatican Museum and Sistine Chapel tour through Livitaly. I booked that tour as a semi-private small group tour. My wife and I were part of a group of 6-8 people. The tour got us into the Sistine Chapel early. That worked out well as it was not crowded at all. However if I had to do it all over again, I would spend the extra money and booked it as fully private to have more control on what to see. David
  19. We were able to make FaceTime calls (Wi-Fi) aboard Infinity when we were sailing around Cape Horn on Jan 2017.
