  1. First time on Royal and I noticed on my app that I have an option to reserve dinner in the main dining room at night. You have to agree to terms that are non very clear to me, but just wondering if there is an extra charge for booking free main dining room ahead of time even though we don't have a dining package?

    Thanks in advance!

We're on the March 30th sailing that starts in Colon. We booked a pre-cruise excursion with Royal that starts at 630am on embarkation day. Has anyone done this tour? Does anyone know where it starts? Because of the early hour, the tour start spot may impact the hotel location we choose. The only time I've done a pre-cruise tour was on a Greek cruise that left from Civitaveccia. That left from the airport outside of Rome. Thanks!

We are on the March 9th sailing out of Colon. (Changed from Panama City). They haven't listed any pre-cruise excursions for us yet. Can you tell us more about the one you are doing? Is it out of Colon? Is it partial transit? Thank You!

We too are on the March 2024 sailing-  Panama City to Colon. We are flying in and out of Panama City. Good prices on flights with COPA airlines, ( Panama airline) with direct flights from a few US airports.
I’m hopingRoyal will offer a transfer service back to the airport when we disembark in Colon. We have a 12 pm flight booked, and it appears it’s about 1 hr to the PTY airport from Colon.
I’ve also read there is not much to do in Colon other than the locks. Not the safest port to be wandering around, although there is a Raddison Hotel at the Colon port with a mall attached.
Our roll call is very quiet!

We are also hoping Royal will offer service back to Panama City. We have decided to stay there overnight before flying out Sunday Afternoon.

  4. I tried unsuccessfully for several days to print our documents, after reading these comments I went back on my app. (We are a month out from our cruise).  Went to profile/check in/review and edit/scroll all the way down click "E-Ticket" and it came through immediately for me!

    Bottled water £3

coffees £3 …espressos probably cheaper though

    Cokes etc, £3

    lager £6 for 400ml

    bottled beer £6.50-£8 for pint

    wine £6.50 for large glass

BUT all individual drinks have 15% convenience charge added

if you can get the drinks package on an offer then anything under £30 is good …you can often get it for £28pppd

If not then buying the packages in advance is still significantly cheaper than buying them onboard (and you avoid the 15% service charge)

on my recent 7 day cruise my package included the premium extra but , apart from when I deliberately chose drinks from the premium extra package, 95% of what I really wanted was in the Easy package, so if you can’t get a great deal on Premium Extra then i would plump for Easy.

we were not heavy drinkers but individually… on an average day…

coffee at breakfast … £3.50 (incl service)

    Proper juice at breakfast …£3.50

bottle of water to take off boat … £3

beer with lunch after returning from excursion… £8

mid afternoon cocktail / non alcoholic cocktail … £8

hot chocolate or coke to take back to cabin before getting ready …£3.50

pre dinner vodka/coke or Prosecco …£8

    wine with dinner …£7.50

    post dinner baileys … £4.50

that comes to £50 per day …for non heavy drinkers!!!

Thank you for the detailed answer.

Are there ever offers/deals on drink packages?

  6. Just been debating whether to purchase or not easy drink package.

Hubby drinks occasional glass of wine at dinner, I don't.

We are booked on all day excursions.

We would be using it for mostly water and espressos.

Would anyone have a price list for bottled water and coffees?

Both of us would have to purchase.

I don't want to use it just to get "my money's worth".

    Thank You!

It's not often a ship will stop in Hellyselt but not go on to Geiranger but from what I can see on the MSC site, this is the case. But I also see now that there is a public ferry that take about an hour so that is an option. With this stop on the MSC itinerary we could do both Flam and Geiranger on the same trip.

Is this correct? On the MSC itinerary it shows two dots for Hellyselt/Geiranger stop with excursions departing from both ports/stops.

  8. I was also hoping someone would reply. We are booked in July on Grandiosa (sister ship), and just couldn't pass up being on the 14th level, always wanted to try being closer to the pool and buffet and not having to rely on the elevator constantly. We did get one of the cabins with the larger balcony, not concerned about the noise at all.  Never have trouble sleeping while on vacation.

That thought didn't live long. Maybe I should have watched the morning news today instead of working on my Plex Media Server???? At least I have a little control over my server.

Are you saying that it's not happening, or have you heard something to that effect?

As I'm posting between this forum and FB, I don't always remember what posted where. FWIW, here's what the MSC for Me app shows regarding testing and Northern Europe. That is different from what the MSCcruisesusa site shows, although, in the app, one must link to the web for this information. One cannot screenshot this info, either.

It's updated on the "Travel requirements for Northern European cruises" on the MSC CRUISES USA website too!

    Yay!

    "

    COVID-19 TEST REQUIREMENTS:

    • All guests 2 years & older must show proof of a negative COVID-19 RT-PCR or antigen test taken no more than 2 days before embarkation. Guests must bring the valid negative test certificate with them to the terminal."

Cruise on Seashore is booked and paid for as of 4/16. Trying to log in to Msc for me, but keep getting message to verify booking number or data. Is there normally a lag between booking and app access? Cruise is less than 3 weeks away.

The same thing was happening to me...then I made my final payment and nothing change. Finally I thought of putting my name exactly how it appears in their system, in my case I added my middle name and it worked!:)

Not surprised to read this; however, it would have been great if MSC had notified us. They did send an email when St P dropped off (and still have the opportunity to get a refund per email). We are on the Grandiosa repo Genoa-Copenhagen then have the next 14 days. The second 7 day is almost identical to the first, now.

    Thanks for the post.

That is what I was afraid of...thought it would be a good idea to post 🙂
