  1. They do have premium teas available (specialty blends from the Art of Tea) as Hot options in the MDR.  Just ask the waitstaff and they will bring you the selection box to choose from.

    No Real Maple Syrup

1 Bottle of Wine (750ml) can be carried on during embarkation.

Any alcohol purchased at ports will be held for you until disembarkation.

I will be using Carnival gift cards for sail and sign account.  When I am filling out online check in, do I set it as cash or CC and go to guest services when onboard?

You can pre-purchase Cruise Cash with your Carnival Gift cards before sailing.  The cruise cash can be used for anything on the ship, including gratuities if not already pre-payed.  If there is any fear of "losing" your cruise cash, cash it out by using the slot machines in the casino.

i understand the 15 alcoholic drinks allowed during the 6-6 timeframe, but are all the non alcoholic drinks unlimited? I'm talking about the specialty lattes and milkshakes.

specialty lattes and milkshakes are unlimited with the Cheers program including the "fancy" teas in the coffee shop and during tea time.

My favorite feature has to be starring specific events you don't want to miss, and receiving a notification alerting you of start times. Remember to keep the Hub App open, or else you will not see the notifications!

This is how we "communicate"  on the ship without purchasing the "chat" feature.   We "heart" the place we are going to be for that specific time (i.e. Amber Place lounge for the 8:00 PM Show).  And we will know where others in our group are (or will be).

Thanks for that information!  So correct me if I'm wrong but since the names aren't changing for the cabins, the charges made to the sail and sign cards will remain in the cabin to which the individuals are assigned regardless of what cabin they are sleeping in, correct?

Correct.  Everyone is assigned a different FOLIO # and charges will be applied to the person (or FOLIO# assigned to them), regardless of which stateroom you are sleeping in.  The cabin doesnt absorb the charges like a typical hotel, so there is no concern on trying to breakdown each charge belonging to whom, as you will get a paper statement with each Folio # charges.  Or you can monitor it on the Hub App.

  6. The MDR staff will seat families together with other families at the big round tables.  Usually the first night they will ask if you want to be seated with others or just as family (at a smaller table). If you do not like your new tablemates and prefer to switch up, you can always request different seating next time.  Early / Late seating arrangements are usually pre-planned by the MDR before the cruise starts.  But they can rearrange if needed.

Definitely not that. It was our first cruise, and was also not a gift from TA since we booked ourselves via the website. I believe they came in a book of 5.

They did come in a pack of 5 and were bought through the funshops.  They are no longer available and havent been since atleast 2011.  I may have a picture of one somewhere.

True but not all cruise lines.

I was assuming the OP question was specifically for Carnival - as this post is under the Carnival message boards.  Hence my answer was targeted to what the OP asked. My statement of Sail & Sign cards are already hole punched is a specific term for Carnival.  No other cruise line uses this specific term.

I don't really want to wear one, but since there may be times that I need a lanyard, I was considering purchasing one for when/if I need it. Which type is best? The one with just the clip or the one with the clear pouch. I wasn't sure if you actually slide your SS card or is it scanned.

We prefer just the clip lanyards.  Easy access to have it scanned and swiped at the bars.  If you play in the casino, its also easy to insert your S&S card and leave the lanyard hanging, that way it will be obvious your card is still in the machine.

When the casino opens go there. They will punch a hole in the card, attach the lanyard. It is free.

Sail & Sign cards are already hole punched nowadays.

  11. I have been trying to add the cheers package for my 16 day Transatlantic from Barcelona to Tampa (Oct 2020) and it shows available, but when I go to add it I get this message "

Sorry, there were some problems with your submission:

I know I wanted to book an 8 day. Now just hoping to get my husband to take me on another cruise for the free laundry 😊

I know the feeling.  I have a 16 day Transatlantic Oct 2020 coming up and I had to book 2 more 7 days before then so I could hit Platinum for the Transatlantic cruise.

  13. Chefs table generally starts at 6 and can be on a PORT or Sea day (multiple days depending on sailing).  There will be a meeting place for check in prior to taking a galley tour - closed to shoes are requested.  The dinner itself takes about 2 hours or so.  Definitely a highlight of our cruises.  I got some golden advice from this forum that I am so thankful for getting regarding Chefs Table -- DO NOT EAT EVERYTHING ON THE PLATE .... it is SOOOOOOO tempting to enjoy all of the food.  By the 5th course or so, it gets pretty overwhelming and then they bring out some type of spectacular dessert  ....

When we had Cheers on horizon, they automatically put 2 big bottles of water on the table. I think it was for us to use instead of the tap water? Our servers kept the drinks/water bottles flowing. They did this without us asking. They even used our drink plan to get slushy drinks for the kids. It did not even occur to me to ask (I am a rule follower!) But when they did it I was not going to object!

Next cruise will be on breeze, with kids in a different room and one drink package. (Hubby's beer makes it tough to justify the cost). I have wondered if we would have servers as generous with the non-alcoholic drinks with one Cheers guest?

Yes, if your MDR servers know you have Cheers and you ask, they will alert the bar servers to bring the large format water bottles instead of the tap water in the glass carafe.  We always opt to get Pellegrino instead of bottled water - included with Cheers in the MDR during dinner.

  15. Yes, the coffee bar has a loyalty card that will give you a 7th drink free, after purchasing 6.  I honestly dont know why they cannot do this without the card, as your sail & sign card tracks everything.  I get Cheers, so I dont worry about the quantity, but standing in line watching people hand over their loyalty cards to get punched is an extra step the baristas dont seem to enjoy.

  16. Book now in her current maiden name.  If, once married, she gets her passport and/or drivers license updated before the cruise, you can call Carnival to update the manifest with her married name.  They should not charge to change the name due to marriage, just make sure she is specifies why the name change.

If traveling without a passport and her driver license is updated with the married name, she will need to take her birth certificate + driver license + bridging document (ie marriage license) to show why the name is different from the birth certificate vs drivers license.

And your VIFP # will stay the same, so the gold status will remain.

  17. We surprised our 11 and 14 year old in December with a Christmas Cruise.  We left super early in the AM, they thought we were going to Grandmas in Florida.  Made it all the way to New Orleans - one hiccup, the boat coming in was delayed, so we had a 4 hour delay getting on the ship.

We took the kids down to the river and had them take a picture of husband and I standing in front of the Natchez.  We popped off our coats to reveal our "Merry Cruisemas" shirts.  They both were trying to figure out what it said -- It was cursive so it was hard for them to figure out.  The 11 year old said "your shirt is spelled wrong" (Cruisemas vs Christmas).  Then the 14 year old figured it out and then thought we were going to cruise on the Natchez.  LOL
