  1. Hi debranator, in case you were talking to me... I have been to Nassau & St. Thomas before, in fact St. Thomas just in December and was on a cruise to Honeymoon Beach. Just didn't want to go to the same place, and I'm not a snorkeler. I can look for you on deck 13, but no bikinis on this body! And when & where is the meet & greet? You can see what I look like from my profile pic. Send me a PM if you like! Or I can give you my email. I'm starting to get into preparation mode!

  2. That sounds great, Debranator! I look forward to speaking with you. I know that not all travel agents are knowledgeable about all deals, but I feel if I had contacted Norwegian on my own, they would not have offered me this deal. The agent I spoke with yesterday even made suggestions about choosing a particular cabin, since over the phone I couldn't see what was available. But I have also gained much valuable knowledge in this forum! Now to figure out what to do in St. Thomas & Nassau, since I wasn't thrilled with NCL's offerings. But I'm sure I'll find something to do!

  3. Hi Debranator, I knew you had booked the April 9 cruise last minute. Because of the price you paid, which was $100 less than what I paid for an oceanview, I called my travel agency today and asked if there was anything available for me by way of an upgrade or onboard credit. She checked and said that they couldn't get me a free upgrade, but a balcony plus one extra perk would be $77 if I wanted to do that. I'll take that deal all day long!

  4. There are many cruises on NCL that include the drink package. I know they recently changed the Norwegian Sky out of Miami to be free drinks for everyone. I have one booked on her for December, and right on my reservation it says in big letters, OPEN BAR. I would suggest BizzyBee work with a travel agent, either online or land-based, that specializes in cruises. They know where the bargains are. If you can travel quick, the NCL Spirit leaving this Saturday from Port Canavarel has had a price drop and still has availability. I am sailing on it. I upgraded today from an oceanview to a balcony for $77, and with that I got another perk, so I picked the Internet package along with the Ultimate Beverage Package which I had already for free. Not a bad deal for a solo! (No single supplement.)

  5. There are some lines, and some times, you can find a cruise that has no single supplement at all. Not very often, but it does happen. Also, sometimes it might cost less to book a balcony than an oceanview. There is another thread on this forum called "Post Solo Cruise Bargains Here". If you join or subscribe to that thread, people are usually posting deals when they find them. Most of them are for travel on fairly short notice, like within 30 days. But I recently booked an Alaska cruise for May 26, 2017, on Royal Caribbean with no single supplement. So good luck hunting!

Marie, let me know what you find out about a pre cruise to Denali. Has anyone started a thread yet?

Wow, we are the 4 musketeers! (Alaskateers?) [emoji6] I haven't even begun to look at shore excursions or land tours. I've only been considering whether it would be better to spend the night before the cruise in Anchorage or Seward. I understand that the bus, and especially the train between the 2 cities, passes through some of Denali with some spectacular scenery. I imagine we'll need to see if there's an official roll call yet. If anyone tried to get the deal and did not get it, I would call an RCI cruise specialist or travel agent to see if they will be offering it again. They are still advertising 30% off all cruises.

  7. I did book that Alaska cruise on RCI's Radiance of the Seas for May 26, 2017. $707 for solo oceanview was too good to pass up. Yesterday they said it was 30% off all cruises for Leap Day so I don't know if the price is the same now, but I believe that this cruise is still offering No Single Supplements. Boo yah!

  8. Last night I booked a 7-night Alaska cruise for May 26, 2017 on RCI's Radiance of the Seas! Solo oceanview for just $707. Yesterday for Leap Day they were offering 30% off all cruises so the price might not be the same, but I believe it is still No Single Supplement on this cruise. Check it out if you've been thinking of Alaska!

  9. Any time I see ZERO single supplement I sit up and take note.

Radiance of the Seas - May 26, 2016

    Anchorage - Vancouver

Yesterday (Feb. 27) the RCI website showed Oceanview ($707), Balcony ($1318), and Mini-Suite ($1977) cabins with ZERO single supplement.

Today the website shows 100% supplement. He who hesitates??

BTW Anyone know when cruiseplum is updated?

I put a 24 hour hold on this cruise (for 2017) and I think I'm going to book it. I don't see anything close to that for solo oceanview. Even with the airfare...if I did round trip from Seattle, my airfare might be a little cheaper, but there would be less time in Alaska. Prices are the same for 2017 as those quoted above for 2016. Thanks for the tip! Didn't expect this deal from Royal Caribbean.

  10. I am finding more and more that Norwegian is offering many great deals for solos. Last night I found an Alaska cruise for 2017 at $799 for a solo oceanview, 7 days from Seward (Anchorage) to Vancouver. The oceanview is $100 cheaper than the inside. Total airfare from Florida would add $500. I am seriously considering this, I have to decide by Monday. Should include the free drinks, too.

  11. It might be tough because that is prime spring break season, but check the various cruise line sites and online travel agencies. I think Tuesdays are when the newest deals come out. If they reduce the price of the cruise enough, then I don't mind so much paying the supplement. But when I get a chance to look around, I'll post if I find something. Good luck!

  12. Last April on the Conquest, one afternoon by the pool there was no live music or DJ at all. Instead, there was piped-in "easy listening" type music, mostly orchestra instrumentals and occasional crooners. It was a strange atmosphere for sipping tropical drinks poolside, and it didn't seem like it fit. I did mention it in a post-cruise survey. Maybe many people did the same, and that prompted their switch to tropical music on the Lido. Whatever the reason, I am glad!

  13. I did price it for one person, and I took the booking as far as the page where you have to enter your personal & passport information, I didn't bother to do that. Should I have gone further? I have 2 other NCL cruises booked that had no single supplement, which I found out about on another site and shared here back when I booked. Thanks for your help!

  14. LEtue, are you sure there is never a single supplement in studio cabins? Yesterday I did a mock booking of a studio on one of the NCL larger ships, it may have been Epic. It was a 7-day Caribbean in early October. The price I was given was twice the per person rate, which was odd to me because you can only put one person in a studio. This was on the NCL website.
