  1. Allianz has been very good to us through the years. I was just wondering how people work things that have extended travel dates. Thank you for the feedback….I did reread and called. It is never easy and so much for coverage. We were very lucky with the trip we took out of the country several years ago…..they paid more than I expected. Thank you.
  2. Thank you….flying flatbeds free too! Have managed for years by saving those miles for overseas travels. Thank you. Looks like we do the same.
  3. Thank you for all of the responses.i have used Allianz for years and just spoke with their sales department. They were fabulous when i caught covid on the second to last day of our cruise a few years ago when it was mandated we had to stay in Canada another ten days. They told me since I got sick onboard with a pandemic illness that even though my trip only insured the cruise they would continue coverage since I caught it during the cruise. They ended up paying for ten days of hotels and food beyond the cruise. We were amazed so I stick with them. Their agent just told me I needed to cover non refundable items on this policy. If we stay a few days with friends in between or in refundable hotels which I always book no need to cover them. In Fiji we prepared several thousand ahead for a hotel and must cover that. She also said the cruise lines can not charge for taxes or port charges if we are not there and have to refund that which I had thought for years. I know every policy is different. Thank you all for the feedback. Much appreciated. Karen
  4. We are not new travelers and have traveled the world. I booked Allianz the first day we booked our cruise and am now adding the other parts of our seven week journey. We will be back in Sydney, Fiji, back to Sidney for the 17 night repositioning. When insuring the amount for the cruise I usually keep the taxes and port fees off. I am curious what others do. I think the company has to refund the taxes if you have to cancel. Not certain about the port charges though. This would be before sailing and not a trip interruption where it probably is more complicated. Just wondering. Thank You, Karen
  5. Call celebrity and ask for the engagement office or the refund office. If an agent booked you I don’t know if you need to go through them. I book directly with C.
  6. Hmmmm I was on those buses. 200? Not surprised. Hardly anyone wore masks on the cruise. We did in many places and I still got it. I hope you were able to get in touch with someone. One of the reasons I book directly with Celebrity. Try to contact the engagement center yourself. Hope you are all doing well……
  7. Canadian law was just changed two weeks ago. Ended up ending on the last day of my quarantine. Boston is in the US. No mandate there.
  8. That makes it more understandable to me. Thank you. The US? We have different rules every three blocks. Not what it used to be. Covid has split our country so……sadly. Thank you.
  9. Glad to find this thread. Were any of you mandated to remain in Canada for ten days after the day you tested positive onboard which is considered day 0. We sailed from Vancouver to Alaska and back to Vancouver. I tested positive three days before we arrived back to Vancouver and we were told we would have to remain in Vancouver until Oct 1 day 11. I read this but am trying to find out exactly whose law this is….Canadian, not US I suspect, or agreement with cruise lines who began to sail again in Canada. We were escorted off the ship to busses….almost 50 on this sailing. Canadians dropped at parking lots to get their cars to drive home and others like us (we are American) were dropped at the hotels we had to find with a letter saying Celebrity will pay 250 per night for 10 nights and 100 a day for food. The Canadian citizens are told they can return to work on day 5 with no symptoms after a positive test. Not certain why we are here for 10 plus one day. Any insight appreciated. Thank you, Karen
  10. Looking for some information. I tested positive for Covid (masked throughout) on a Celebrity cruise three days before we ended the cruise in Vancouver with 55 others. I was told by the cruise Covid coordinator that we would have to remain in Canada for a period of ten days post day 0 the day I tested. We are in Canada now. We are American citizens and were tod the first time we can fly out is Oct 1 after quarantine. The Canadian government tells people who were positive with no symptoms that they can return to work after day 5. We are trying to figure out whose law this is. Does anyone on this board know. All we have is a contact with the cruise operator. Just trying to get the facts straight. Thank You, Karen
  11. We ended up renting a car through Turo. They will deliver to the post. It is the air bnb of cars. Great reviews we shall see. karen
  12. I believe I tried calling and emailing and never got a response. That is why we went with Turo. Are they still in business?
  13. We decided to use TURO in Alaska. Most will bring the cars to you. This is the Airbnb for cars. Never used them but great reviews. Karen B
  14. Are The Binex telehealth tests accepted in Canada. We used them for our Caribbean trips as a backup if our results did not get back in time. I see that Canada and the UK use different kits that are sold there. Will our collection of Binex tests be accepted there? The monitored tests online. Thanks, Karen
  15. Thank you….found a car that will meet us there too. karen
  16. Does anyone know which place we will be docking at in Sitka. There are 2. One close to many areas and the other further out needing a shuttle in. Last time we were close but I think that might be priority for Princess. That was the only non celebrity we took in 25 years. Thanks, Karen PS the specific dock is not on the cruise schedule site and it appears you need some sort of clearance for it.
  17. I was wondering the same. Found an small two hour tour from the visitor center I am considering. Not certain where we dock or if we dock in Sitka. Last time I thought we were close to the town. Following.
  18. We decided to fly into Seattle as we could get a direct flight and have ten days to play with. I did find some rental cars opening up for one way rentals as the months went by. Everything is in flux now because they have just started cruising. We are not going until Sept. Did book home from VC and decided to stay a day as the flight we were on we would never make. Life is changed and will probably never return to what we had. That happens post pandemics historically.
  19. Thank you…they changed the site around a few years ago. I am lost sometimes,
  20. I have not seen much about this on other threads. And I don’t see a search icon unless I am missing something. Many of us who have sailed Celebrity for years have gone to board the ship at 11am in places like Ft Lauderdale or Miami….Are we still able to show up early as we have in the past or do we need to show at a special time provided on our boarding pass. I know in the past those who could get to the ship early were always allowed to board. Anyone know if this has changed? Thank You Karen
  21. We just booked a last min for June to get back on board. Live 40 min from port. What I suspect is happening is each ship is handling the issue differently. Some balcony for balcony. Others I read window or none which I would freak from. I have a friend with MS. Might want to get a doctors letter to bring with you just in case you need assistance and they don’t let you stay together.
  22. Thank you for the update and I hope you both continue to do well. I would be in tears when we board as well in June. We have traveled around the world on Celebrity and had btb btb btb booked prior to shutdown to Japan and Asia. Have decided to try an eight day close to home as a first. Grounded after 25 years is tough. Question….are you still able to get onboard early as we all did before Covid or are they rigid about boarding. We always checked in around 11am. Karen
