The reason i ask is because I've called NCL and have received 2 different answers. One rep said to send it Attn. Accounting Dept. and the other said to send to the Attn. of Rewards Department. Then in a post here someone said to send to Payment Applications Dept. :confused: :confused: :confused:

 

So confusing! I just want to make sure they get to the right place. How long did it take for you to get your certificate?....and how long for NCL to get it posted?

 

Thanks to everyone for all the postings, I have found out much more info here on cruise critic than with numerous calls to Bank of America and NCL.

It took about 7 to 10 days to get the certificate and it arrived in a very plain envelope. I almost shredded it as junk mail! I sent it to the post office box address that was on the back of the certificate, but added Attn. Accounting Dept. I did send it with a delivery confirmation request. I did not think you could do that with a P.O. Box, but apparently you can. Less than a week after I got the delivery confirmation from the post office, the certificate was posted on our account. :D

I'm sooo excited! They just credited my first certificate to my account. I was sweating it since I have never done it before, but it worked! Thank you everyone for all the great info. :D

Last year I stopped using my SW credit card and switched to NCL because the way I have figured it, with out considering the bonus points for NCL, it takes me approximately $16667. in purchases to get my $500 certificate vs $19200. (less any points for flights taken) to get a ticket that I can usually buy for less than $200. :D

 

I no longer use any credit cards that don't give me some kind of bonus. :cool:

The discover card cash back can be used for anything... it's simply cash back. The NCL card points can only be used for NCL cruises/upgrades. None of them is "better" if you are gonna buy a cruise with cash or use your points. The only advantage with NCL is that you get bonus points for any dollar spent with NCL in addition to the regular 3 percent, you get an additional 1 percent on NCL purchases.

 

The only other difference is that discover is not as widely accepted as MasterCard worldwide.

OK, so NCL points cannot be used for anything other than a cruise. I didn't know that, not that I would want to use them for anything else.

lets be honest who cares. We aren't here to compare the benefits of a universe of cards. The thread is to discuss how to best use the NCL master card. If I wanted a discover card(which I have) I would use it.

Yes, lets be honest. I believe that this is a open board and if I want to ask a question, I can. If it is the wrong place, I am sure that the moderators would remove it. If you don't like the question, you are free to move on just as I am free to ask this question.

Now as for my question. I was only asking because the NCL card and the discover card seem to be the same and my husband I are at odds at which to use. We were wondering if any others on the boards had any input as to which is better. I use the NCL card and my husband uses the discover, which is the same points, but you get cash back instead of credits to send towards your cruise. Whether you send cash or whether you send cruise credits, does it make a difference.

I am sorry if this is a stupid question, but I thought it wouldn't hurt to ask.

Can anyone tell me if the benefits from the NCL Mastercard is equal to what you get with the Sams Club Discover card?

Nope --- gotta have the motion of the ocean. :D AND, don't forget that the casino wouldn't open if "docked" for 7 days! :eek: I wouldn't mind just being at sea for the whole time and not stopping at any ports but that hum of the engines is a necessary part of the experience for it to be a cruise and not just an all-inclusive resort.

I just found my own answer in the very first post (how stupid I can be!). I guess I just wanted to see cruise points somewhere. :o

I appologize as this may be a stuptid question. I just got my first NCL credit card statement. On my statement I can find compass points, are the the points that I need to keep track of? I don't see any other kind of points but as I have been reading this thread, I have not seen or I have missed the words compass points.

But you do have to carry it with you each time you get off the ship don't you?

I usually bring a copy of the passports along when away from the hotel, however. We also leave a list of credit card numbers and phone numbers to call in the hotel safe, as well at home with a trusted friend/family member.

Do I carry my passport with me at all times or do I leave it at the hotel when I go out? We will be in Barcelona for a few days before our cruise and I don't know what to do.
