I will admit I'm confused by this. When I go onto the Princess website and access my booking (Caribbean Princess, January 2024) under the dining tab, it tells me all reservations have moved to the Medallion App. There is no way to access dining in this area.

Is there another place I should be looking?

For the record, I made my reservations for both MDR and specialty through the app. I'm more curious for future reference if I should happen to encounter issues like the OP.

See the link under the Google Play symbol?  This is the summary page for your reservation.  They don't make it very easy to find, especially for older eyes. 😉

On Emerald now. Club Fusion on 18 is usually quiet during the day if there r no functions planned for there. But it is usually cold. That’s where the PES 2 hour reception is held every night.

I believe you mean Skywalkers on Deck 18.  Club Fusion is on Deck 7 aft.  I agree, we often use Skywalkers for reading and relaxing.

Anyone have a picture of this DNR screen feature? Haven't been on a Princess cruise since 2010 (Grand) and we had door hangers at that time. We have the Enchanted booked for March 2024.

"DNR" and "DND", two very different meanings. 🤣🤣🤣

I appreciate ALL the input on my question of the Medallion. Now I have another question. It may seem strange to you that I ask this, but I'm going to ask it anyway. Do I have to wear this medallion (I have NO clue how small/large it is) around my neck??? I am just used to keeping the door key/card either in my pocket or small bag that I might have on me. Just curious.

No need to wear it around your neck.  I always keep mine in my pocket and it works just fine.

was Alfredos open during lunch?  (was recently on Caribbean Princess and Steamers and planks were only open for dinner and on alternate nights.

Yes it's open for lunch.  Basically it's open continuously from lunch through dinner.  Planks and Steamers were always only open for dinner.  The alternating is new as of the recent post pandemic restart.

We sailed on Breakaway a few years ago on a Bermuda sailing.  We were very disappointed, as we usually sail on Celebrity Summit for this itinerary.

The ship seemed so bargain basement to us from the decor to the food. However, O’Malleys, a complimentary restaurant, was terrific for breakfast.  The buffet was a zoo, so we avoided it.  Service was fine, but not exemplary as you would find on Princess.  Entertainment was good, but nothing to rave about.  Many children were onboard as it was during summer holidays.  NCL does attract more children than either Celebrity or Princess.

Regal Princess is the second sister of the Royal Class ships and it’s lovely.  Very elegant and beautifully appointed.  The food, in my opinion, is better on Princess, but food is so subjective.   Yes, you will find less children on Regal, but for us this is a big plus.  Entertainment is typical cruiseship.  Service is always top notch on Princess.  International Cafe is a delightful place for a coffee and light snack while people watching.  The food is fresh and very good.  Specifically coffees comparable to Starbucks.

Personally, I would avoid Breakaway and embrace Regal Princess.  However, you are going to get a completely different perspective on the NCL boards.  They have a very loyal following and their ships are very popular for all the amenities that we dislike.  Good luck with your decision and I wish you happy sailing on either ship.

Exactly my sentiments also. We sailed on the Breakaway when she was much newer, not sure if that matters and we sailed out of Manhattan,  There were lots of kids and a much more (how shall I put this 😏) rambunctious crowd in general.  I didn't hate it but the center of the ship was much too crowded for me.  Food, in our opinion, was much better on the Regal or any Princess ship.  In February you will definitely have more families and kids but I doubt it will be as wild.

I would check the information on the Princess booking confirmation passenger copy. Final payment date is printed there.

Ding..Ding..Ding  Not sure why I didn't think of that.  Unfortunately the final payment date is in fact 9/22.   I don't know why.  Other than the Plus package I don't see this as a promotional fare, but it's really not a huge deal.  Thanks for the tip.

A final payment notice from a TA will often have an earlier date than from Princess, but 30 days earlier may be a little much. The TA wants to get the funds in enough time to make sure Princess receives them by their final payment date.

I think it was just a mistake. She’s a very experienced and long time TA. I’m guessing in this instance the email was automatically (and perhaps incorrectly) generated. I’ll talk to her tomorrow. I was just curious if something had changed.  Thanks

  9. I received a final payment notice from my TA for a 1/20/2024 cruise (16 Days - SA and Antarctica).  The payment date in the email is 9/22/2023, 120 days in advance.  Has final payment changed from 90 days?  Of course I'll check withy TA on Monday but I was just wondering if there has been a change.  I haven't seen anything mentioned here and I don't see it on the Princess website.

    Thanks,

Update: While I haven't gotten any notice from Princess, my TA sent me a e-mail today that he got with the update. Reason Princess gives for cancelling Yorktown is do to "local government restrictions". Usually Princess sends me a e-mail notice so don't know what happened to it.

Upside is, they are adding more time in Charleston.

While it's true that Princess "usually" sends itinerary changes to us directly, that always send it to our travel agent who in turn forwards it to us.  Additionally, she always does this the same day she receives the email.

    Penthouse on the Ruby

    First timer

Does the concierge meet with you first day at our room or do we deal with him/her at guest services?

    bob

First, there is no concierge on the Ruby, only the Royal Class ships.  On ships with a concierge you will meet him or her in the concierge lounge.  There is an assistant concierge also.

It's  a shame Princess apparently doesn't allow OBC to go towards gratuities like Royal Caribbean. Anyone have experience with Princess applying remaining OBC towards gratuities at end of cruise?

If you are paying for the daily gratuities (now called Crew Appreciation by Princess), as opposed to purchasing the Plus or Premiere package which includes gratuities, you will be charged daily as the cruise proceeds.  Any OBC will be used to pay those charges as well as any other on board charges you incur during the cruise.

You cannot pre-pay gratuities using OBC.

"one credit = one minibar." Not exactly. It does not go by cruise credits since there can be additional cruise credits for full suites as well as single occupancy. It goes by voyage.

Basically off topic but....I just looked at our list of cruise credits.  Up to this point we have sailed twice in a suite, once on a 7 day Caribbean cruise and one on a 14 TA.  We received 2 credits for the Caribbean cruise but only one for the TA.  The difference between the 2 suites was the TA suite was through an upgrade bid.  Does anybody know if it's an official policy to only give 1 cruise credit for a suite attained through a paid upgrade?  I don't really care that much.  We're already elite.  I was just curious.

Yes, you can. You need to get the permission from Princess in advance. We are cruising out of NYC in August and requested permission to debark at our last port of call (St. John's, NL) rather than return to NYC. It's called a "Route Deviation Request" and, once approved, Princess will send you a confirmation that clearly states your requested deviation as well as it showing under your booking details in your cruise personalizer. Mine now looks like this:

We use a TA, so we requested the change through her but expect it's easy enough to do by yourself if you booked on your own. People do this all of the time around the world.

Are you sure this is the same circumstance the OP is questioning?  They are not looking to disembark prior to the last port of call.  They want to disembark at the last port but want to do it early.  I would think the issue is whether or not customs officials will be available at that early hour.  Having said that, perhaps there is a way they can handle the customs requirements the day before the cruise officially ends.  I have no knowledge if this is an option.  Just throwing it out there.

Likely the satellites they use in Europe don't have broadcast rights to beam US cable news channels. It has been a few years but when I did a Princess Norway cruise the only news channel we got was CNN International. Not US CNN. It would not have anything to do with Starlink. Starlink is for interent not cable channels. Those would be recieved on different dishes.

It's been a long time since there was any CNN offering on any Princess cruise I have been on.  This includes Europe, TA, Caribbean, Alaska and Australia/NZ.  All of them offered Fox and MSNBC.

@LindaConnYou are asking about Caribbean princess but the concept is the same for other ships.  The aft dining room is difficult to reach, the elevators don't go all the way down but people say it's quieter.  The two mid ship dining rooms, Deck 5 and Deck 6, both serve dinner.  Deck 6 dining room serves breakfast daily and lunch on sea days.

With the exception of the aft elevators which do go down to deck 6. 😉

We fly into LAX the night before.
Booked a hotel in San Pedro (near docks) independent of Princess.
Does that mean I can’t use Princess transfer from airport to hotel (if I purchase one )??

I did purchase transfers from ship to LAX at conclusion of trip.

Correct, you cannot purchase a transfer from Princess from LAX to your privately booked hotel.  It must be a hotel booked through Princess.  In this instance Princess will transfer you to the hotel and from the hotel to the port the next day.

This e-mail was sent to my parents.  They were booked in an Interior.  It turned out that Princess upgraded them to a Deluxe Balcony at no extra charge.  After the upgrade, they were sent a new Bid to Upgrade e-mail with new categories (Premium Deluxe Balcony and up) and new dollar values.

Hoping for the best for you!

Fingers crossed 🤞🤞   Thanks for the feedback.

  19. Have any of you folks who have bid on an upgrade received the following email from Princess?  I have no idea what this is about.  I'll have to wait until tomorrow to call my Travel Agent since today's a U.S. holiday.  I looked at my booking on the Princess website and nothing appears to have changed.

ASk the parents to go on the Rush my passport website.  They are an expediter.  They go whereever is necessary to get the passport processed.  You pay more than for just the passport, but you get a passport in short order.  I have used this service multiple times and highly recommend

I second this suggestion.  My employer needed to expedite a visa for India for me a number of years back.  They used CIBT - Visa and Passport Professionals.  www.cibt.com  (800) 929-2428

It was not cheap but definitely less than a flight to Hawaii 😉

Some more information from their website.  It looks like the phone number has changed.

    Thanks for responding, much appreciated.

I thought they might add in extra activities eg a choir or some longer term craft projects, language learning or some such to pass the time.

Yes I have done many cruises but not a Princess transatlantic.

On the Enchanted TA last March both of these were offered as well as a progressive trivia game every sea day.
