  1. What type of clothing is included in the "bag" of laundry? Does it include jeans (we will be in Northern Europe, cold weather). I know that Royal will not include jeans in their "bag".

That's interesting. We did it with Princess a few years ago and we put anything and everything in the bag. Our room steward said squish as much as we could into the bag! We did, and they washed and pressed EVERYTHING! EVEN UNDERWEAR! 😂

  2. do you know if divi bay resort does day passes? or of another place on the island that does? we're interested in a resort for the day. thanks!

I looked into that awhile back. The only resort that did day passes was one on Great Bay Beach. They book out way in advance so there was nothing available for our dates and I checked 4 months out. Go to the website resortsforaday.com.

  3. We used to go to Orient but now we just use the beach area as we get off the water taxis

we normally pay $20 for 2 chairs and umbrella My wife likes to lay in the sun I like to move around this allows us to do this. We normally are in St. Martin 2 times a year. If you like beer they sells buckets of beer very inexpensive i think it was 5 beers for around $10. many places along the beach area to get lunch or a snack. This is our favorite location in the Caribbean.

Thank you, that will be our choice!

  4. Yes, yet another live blog from the Reflection. I am starting this from the back of the Oceanview Cafe. First just a couple of things about us just for reference. Mid 50's from Minnesota, this is our eighth cruise, second on Celebrity. We loved the first one on the Silhouette so much, no brainer to give it another try, this time on one oh her sister ships. We have booked Aqua Class, primarily for Blu and just because we liked it a lot last time. We are very light drinkers, but my wife loves her coffee so we went with the NA Premium package. Also splurged for Internet and a three night specialty package. While we love Blu, also like trying different things. We have zero excursions planned, rather will get off, walk around and see what happens in the ports.

My vacation experience may be different than many of you. I am an introvert who looks forward mostly to just relaxing and taking it easy. My DW makes up for it as she is the one who will start a conversation with anyone, anywhere while I look on, tapping my feet and ready to move on to my own thing. That's good for me, I do like talking with people and she serves as my ice breaker. :)

Our plane landed a bit after ten at MIA After a rather amusing taxi ride to the port where the taxi's trunk kept opening on the road, we arrived and began the embarkation process. Bag drop pickup was immediate. Check in was incredibly smooth with no real lines anywhere and nothing in Aqua. Everything we preordered (Internet, drink package) was set up and ready. We were onboard before 11:00AM.

Did have a couple of the anticipated drink upgrade offers, but in no way in your face, just letting you know it is there.

My only problem is my own. We have a couple of heavy carry on bags so not that mobile to do some real exploring yet. Cabins won't be ready until later, hopefully by 1:00. Did walk through some of the areas on a nearly empty ship so that was nice. Found a table on the rail outside of Oceanview and had a light snack. So if I can't drop off my bags, this will do quite nicely. Pleasant weather, overlooking Miami, life is good and our vacation is off to a great start!

Excited to follow along. My DH and I will be boarding her in two weeks! First time on Celebrity but 9th cruise for me.

Can you say during the week if you are offered any specialty dining for a discount? And also, did you bring your own drinks on board to fill your minibar? Why do you have it emptied if not? Just curious....

    Thanks in advance!

  5. Agree with all of the above - some additional comments:

    - One of the best specialty coffees you can have at the Café al Bacio is an affogato - a dip of vanilla gelato floating in an espresso, with chocolate syrup drizzled over it (the only way to get a free gelato, other than the one you get with your Captain's Club coupon.)

    - Even the virgin strawberry margaritas taste great!

    - And you can also get your free bottles of water right before you exit the ship where they are selling them to your shipmates without packages.

    Thanks for that last tip!!

  6. So I have a question regarding this. Say someone is diagnosed on the ship with the noro-virus which requires you to be quarantined to your cabin for a set amount of time. If that person leaves their cabin and attempts to dine in the dining room or any of the other restaurants, will the staff be notified they are in there?

I'm curious too. I have heard that they lock you in your room so you cannot leave. AND I was told by another passenger that they were quarantined to their cabin with an actual crewmember standing guard outside the door. Not sure if true.

  7. It's too bad you let that impression, created by some, influence your decision. Celebrity does a great job with the kids. They love it. And the kids are ordinarily well behaved and create no problems for the adult passengers.

The number of people posting here are a minuscule drop in the bucket compared to the number of passengers that sail Celebrity every year. And as with most forums such as these, they tend to attract the vocal minority who seem to be the most disgruntled or who complain the most.

Give me a dozen kids any day over a single grumpy curmudgeon.

    Well said!!😀

  8. Agreed! I was thinking to myself "I would not consider Princess a step down from Celebrity". A bit more equal

Thank you!! I'm so tired of those Celebrity cruisers who bash Princess. In my experience, Princess has been outstanding!

  9. If the OP had stopped at post #17 that would have been a good end to it. I think if OP does ask they probably will get them because the crew tries to accomodate passenger requests. But then OP in a later post says Celebrity needs to "get with it" and make having towel animals the default because other cruise lines have them. That was bound to cause more discussion. I am not going to explain again why I don't care for them or why I disagree. If you or OP wants them on your cruise, request them. I have been cruising Celebrity 20 years and they have a certain style and usually excellent cabin service. Better than the other cruise lines. That has been without towel animals. That is not likely to change but those who really want towel animals can ask. I can't say for sure but you will probably get them.

I could have easily stopped at #17. But then you all decided to tell me reasons why towel animals should be discontinued.

I asked if I could expect them on my cruise coming up since this will be my first Celebrity. A "yes" or a "no" would have sufficed. But no, many felt the need to berate me for liking them or hoping for them.

Your opinion has been noted. Mine has been noted. Let's move on.

  10. A few years ago, our beloved dog passed away while we were sailing on Equinox. The steward saw me crying in the hallway and offered his sympathy. After that, he left towel animals to cheer us up each night, a monkey, a seal wearing my sun glasses, a swan reading a book. Each morning, he'd ask if I liked his creation. I wouldn't have ever missed the towel animals if they hadn't appeared, but I really appreciated the thoughtfulness.

Why the scorn over towel animals?

Wow. That was an awesome room steward! The towel animals make me smile and believe they are a nice added touch. Sorry for the loss of your pup.

  11. Celebrity does not need to get with it. They are tacky. I always considered it a feature and sane that Celebrity does not do them. The cabin attendent should not be wasting time on them. If you want them cruise on those downscale cruise lines that do them. On my last Royal Caribbean cruise I happened to look under the bed, I was going to put one of my cases there. I couldn't because there were a bunch of towel animals already made up ahead of time. The poor cabin attendent was making them in advance to get them done and reusing them. Good grief.

Wow! Quite the elitist you must be. Have you sailed on Disney? HAL? And you think they would be considered downscale cruiselines? Hmmm.....

  12. Towel animals were always much more of a Royal C thing...although it seems alot of Royal C things are making their way to X these days

while they are cute we never liked them being adorned with our personal sunglasses, caps etc...

I don't know about R.C. so much as I've only cruised with them once. I DO know that Princess, Disney, Carnival, Norwegian and HAL all do/did towel animals. In that sense, Celebrity needs to get with it. Guess if one doesn't appreciate the animals they could ask to exclude them in their staterooms. I see them as a bonus as well as smile worthy. Everyone needs a smile now and then.😊😊
