  1. Thank you for your replies! I will ask for them on our cruise next month. If we get them, great! If not, it surely won't ruin my cruise. At 50 years old, I find them fun and entertaining! It's like, hmmm....wonder what surprise will be awaiting us when we get to our room!!

  2. Love this thread! Have a few of my own to add and hoping that they will make someone chuckle or at least say "oh my":

    1) In the Haven on our last cruise on NCL, watched a little boy go up to the cookie platter, pick up every cookie, inspect it, lick it and place it back on the platter. The Haven Butler quickly rushed over and asked the little boy why he had just did that. The little boy responded "if I lick it, my sister won't eat any of them". Butler responded that he was going to have to remove the platter and reminded the little boy to use the tongs and only take what he wanted to eat. Mother of the little boy came over and I thought it was going to be fireworks over the fact that the Butler had chastised her child. Instead, she politely told the Butler thank you and proceeded to reprimand her son. Little boy was not allowed cookies from the Haven for the rest of the cruise, but his sister was. Gotta say, though, I did kinda smile at his response!

    2) Same cruise, different little boy-very sweet child with special needs. I am a Special Needs teacher so had no problem with him coming over and talking to me. This particular day I just really wanted some peace and quiet with my book so I told him I was going to read and enjoy the sun. An hour or so later, I noticed that his parents are no longer in the Haven and he is just kinda milling around talking to everyone. I motioned for him to come over and he told me that his parents had left him with the kind lady and that they would be back after their spa treatments. Haven Butler was alerted and the parents were summoned out of their spa treatments to come back and get their son. The father actually had the nerve to come up to me the next day and say he didn't think I would "mind" watching their son because I did that as a job. Wow!

    3) Very first cruise on NCL and DH and I decided to check out Carlos and Charlie's in Cozumel with some of the other folks that we had met on board. Had a great time drinking and dancing. When we got back to the ship and headed to dinner, we saw the couple in the room next to ours. The Mom said that their 16 year old son had gone ashore, went to Carlos and Charlie's and got completely smashed. He told her that he had seen us there and she wanted to know why we had not stopped him from drinking?

    4) DH and I were seated with a family of 6 on our second cruise. They were great fun and seemed to be up for anything. One of our ports was Jamaica and the teens/young adult children were joking with the parents that they were going to get some "local cigarettes" for them all to try. Well, at least we thought they were joking! Saw them at dinner that night and the entire family were so high they couldn't see straight. The Mom fell asleep at the table and had to be escorted out. The rest of the week we did not see them at all. When we arrived back in Miami, they were all being escorted off the ship by the Miami PD.

    5) On our last cruise, there was a family with a toddler about 18 months old. On the first day, they came to the Haven area, stripped the child down and allowed him to wander the deck. If he had to pee, he just did in on deck. Lots of people complained, but they continued. On the 3rd day, we were walking past the casino and there in the corner was this family allowing their toddler to throw up - literally right next to a bathroom. Another lady went and reported this and the family were quarantined to their room for the rest of the cruise. Problem of the naked toddler - solved!

    :D

Wow!! You must be able to keep your cool well. I doubt I would at some of these incidents. You have to wonder how these people act at home if this is how they act on vacation! Simply amazing!

  3. We have found each and every room steward to be awesome. But after our 3rd cruise, when meeting him/her we slipped them a ten or twenty and asked if they would keep us in extra towels, Ice at all times, and extra toiletries like bottles of nice shampoo/conditioner (if not in the plastic shower containers.) They always seemed extra attentive and super friendly! Now, that being said, you certainly don't have to do this because you should already get great service but we noticed a little extra friendliness this way and they always seemed super appreciative. Have fun!

  4. While cruising with my sister and her husband, my BIL and I were on an elevator going to our cabins, it was around 10:30 in the morning, when a large woman got on the elevator with a tray piled high with multiple hamburgers, hot dogs, and french fries. I asked her if she was having a party in her cabin. She replied, "No. This was a snack to hold her over until lunch."

The worst thing I ever saw was a very drunk woman get out of the pool, sit down on a lounge chair, and then she proceeded to slide her bikini bottoms down her legs, and urinate right there. When she was finished, she pulled them up, and just sat there like nothing happened, until security came and escorted her away. I guess the silver lining is that she didn't pee in the pool. :D

OH. MY. GOSH! That is disgusting!

  5. Now that I've wiped up the coffee I spilled all over the screen, here's mine (not on Celebrity though).

We were in an adjoining cabin, but not travelling with the people next to us. 2 AM and dh is sound asleep. I hear a key rattling in the door, and being a light sleeper, I'm on full alert. Second rattling of key. Third rattling of key is the charm. Now I hear, "Honey, I'm back" and the voice is coming from the cabin's hallway. I scream "You're in the wrong cabin." I slap dh to wake him up and he pipes up. Now the stranger is screaming, "What the (blank) are you doing in bed with my wife, you (blank)?" Mr.Visitor proceeds to grab the hallway curtain and becomes entangled in it.

This is our first night on this ship and we have yet to hit the right light switch, so this is playing out in the dark. Before we do, our friendly neighbor advises us that he will "beat the blank out of my husband." Somehow he realizes his error, untangles himself and scoots out. The hint might have been when I screamed out, "Unless you're married to (my name), you're in the wrong cabin, fool."

We found out from the Hotel Manager that the ship had just come out of dry dock and our key cards were coded erroneously to allow us and our neighbors to have access to each other's cabin.

This happened about 8 years ago. We recently ran into the same Hotel Manager and as soon as we introduced ourselves, she remembered the incident and said it was a first for her in her twenty year career.

Maybe the best story yet right here!!👏👏👏

  6. That is against the law. An owner may supply a letter if they wish, but it cannot be required. There is a BIG fine for requiring a letter.

    ------------

    Friend,

You are incorrect about this. Please go to the American Airlines website regarding travelling with emotional support animals and you will see I am accurate. You will see that a current letter from a licensed mental health professional is required.

    Other airlines are similar.

I have no idea about cruise ship policies regarding emotional support animals. I was only discussing the policy I know about planes.

I know the University my daughter attends will allow any student to have an "emotional support" animal in their dorms as long as they have their doctor sign off on it. Pretty easy to get apparently!

  7. Jeez people. What's wrong with someone liking lobster? (Regardless of which variety). The OP was just wondering which evening. Not "real" lobster? Right. [emoji849]. I personally look forward to the evening when lobster is served.

The beef Wellington sounds good too.

  8. Just off Reflection. Wonderful week. But was stunned by one passenger in the pizza line at Oceanview Cafe.

Rather than simply take a slice or two, he took a piece ... then picked all the pepperoni off all the other slices to add to it. Leaving a cheese pizza for everyone else behind him.

Just shook my head at the I-am-the-centre-of-the-universe attitude. Though I admit it was so ridiculous it was actually funny.

Anyone else experience bizarre behaviours by fellow guests? Love to hear them.

Oh man!! I would NOT have been able to keep quiet if I witnessed that! So disgusting!

We have seen a buffet line where a young boy (without his parents) climbed up onto the dessert bar and stuck his face into the m&m container by the ice cream machine to eat all the candies! That was the end of that meal!

  9. Just read your entire review in one sitting. Whew! I'm exhausted! 😂

Our first Reflection cruise is coming up next month but to the Eastern side. Can't wait! If I did a cruise like you guys did, I'd need a vacation after my vacation! But that's what's awesome about cruising! You can do as much or as little as you want! Cruising is the best vacation ever! Thanks for a great read!

  10. I'm a pharmacist and I work a 2nd job. That money is set aside specifically for vacation. I've also had breast cancer twice and now realize that I can't take it with me so we are splurging on our next cruise. It is a 15 day TA. We also live below our means, eat out occasionally and maximize our credit card points for airfare and hotel stays.

    Good for you!! Enjoy!

  11. Pretty sad! I was just on the Reflection last month and the pool attendants told passengers to leave personal items on the loungers to reserve them, because if they just left towels, they would take the towels, thus they would lose their lounger.

I found a lounger in the shade at about 10:00 and sat their for about an hour or two and there were many loungers that were never used, but saved with their "personal items".

This bothers me! We will be on Reflection next month! I will be watching for this and I will post what happens!

While I appreciate the humor on this post for us this is a big deal. On HAL, X, and NCL there is an option to pay extra for a cabana or lounge area. We just got off HAL and a reserved cabana at the pool was exquisite.

We will be back to X for an 11 night cruise an I am really concerned with getting a lounger anywhere near the pool particularly on sea days. Getting up at 7 AM to acquire a chair is not in my definition of 'vacation' (and I refuse to be a chair hog).

The only answer would seem to be (outside of passengers deploying common courtesy) is for the attendants to aggressively patrol the loungers. Particularly very early in the morning, if six chairs are reserved and nobody to be seen, leave a card and if the card is still there a half hour later remove the stuff.

I am reluctant to make the effort to do this (remove items) myself as I am on vacation and don't really need the drama of some knucklehead making a scene.

We will see how it goes but I could see leaving X unless they make a concerted effort to resolve this problem.
