  1. We were on the Encore in July and the food was average at best.  There is nothing that stood out as being good, I want to order it again. The desserts were horrible.  This was in all the free dining restaurants.

We thought Cagney's and Teppanyaki were fantastic, can't wait to go back in June on the Escape and the American Diner was horrible.

It is probably easiest just to login into your account for those in your room and your husband's account for the others.  Otherwise, you could just call to make Shorex reservations.  Dining reservations likely won't matter.

I agree.  You can reserve dining for your whole group on your app but for shore excursions you will have to call Shorex to book all at once or make a separate account for your husband (in my case my over 21 year old child) and book excursions that way but personally I call Shorex so I know for sure there is enough slots for my family.

It is actually only the category BF that is guarantee only. I searched an online cruise agency for your sailing, and all categories of balcony higher than BF were available for cabin assignments. I do see what you mean with the website. NCL lumps together categories BA-BF, where the travel agency still has them separated out. With NCL you pay more if you select a higher deck because they are a higher category. I do see that NCL isn't giving you the option to select another stateroom, and that is the issue, not that they don't have cabin assignments available. I would call NCL to book this.

Thank you, I booked with my PCC.  Weird glitch but then again, their site is awful

  4. I was looking at balcony cabins on the June 25, 2023 cruise on the Escape and when I click on a regular balcony room, it shows guarantee only.  Does that mean that all regular balcony cabins are sold out and if I want to book, I won't know my cabin until last minute?

  5. I booked 2 cabins and after final payment the cost went down so we were given FCC's to be used within the next year.  The problem is each person now has the FCC attached to their name but I paid for the cruise.  Someone had given me a link on how to have my kids transfer their FCC to me and my husband but the rules do not mention a transfer can be done if the FCC comes from a price adjustment.  Has anyone successfully been able to transfer FCC from a price adjustment?  How did you do the transfer?

  6. Specialty restaurants were delicious, not a fan of their free restaurants.  Shows were good, loved the Beatles but activities were lacking if you did not go to a show. We were on the Encore which went to Alaska so there were no outdoor pool and activities to take up your time.

  7. Loved your review!  We were on the same cruise and had a great time.  My only complaint was all the down time.  The Ketchikan port was way to short and made no sense that the last shuttle was at 11:00am when all aboard was 12:45. There was no way you could do an excursion and see the town.  Last time we went to Ketchikan we chartered a boat to go fishing so we wanted to see the town this time and it was a waste of time, we really regretted not booking and excursion there. So, between Ketchikan's early day and Victoria's late day it felt like there was 5 sea days.  I really think NCL needs to up their onboard activities on their Alaska cruises, there was really not much to do.  We also were not a fan of their food in the non-pay restaurants but other than that, we did have a wonderful time.

Unfortunately, my daughter came home with covid and based on our Facebook page, she was not the only one.  People were coughing and sneezing everywhere.

We were on the Encore for a 21 day repositioning cruise to Seattle in April.  I know beauty is in the eye of the beholder but the Atrium chandelier, we joked, was made to look like alien pods and much of the artwork was modern minimalistic, in our opinion.  Not to our taste but we weren't there for the artwork!  As other cc's mentioned, it has a fantastic observation lounge which you might miss if you're not looking for it.  Take advantage of it!  It far surpassed any other place on the ship except for the Haven!  The waterfront lounges were very nice if you could find a seat!  We found them to be occupied most of the time by nappers, book readers and people that lived there all day.  Nice space though!  The Cavern was always full with the Beatles show or comedians.  Don't know what the entertainment is for Alaska.  I usually enjoy NCL's entertainment but for the 21 day, it was minimal for the main Theater events.  The atrium had events- game shows, movies, live music and DJ's-  extremely loud.  The nice thing was they had seating on the floor above with bar stools and a ledge that you could eat at and/or drink while watching the shows.  The 24 hr. restaurant and a bar were right there and the food was very good too!  One of our favorites was to get the chicken wings and go to the observation lounge or back to our room to devour them!   You'll enjoy the ship- it's huge!  We generally had no problem getting our 10,000 steps in!  If you're interested in going to the spa- go to one of the pampering parties.  It's a fun time going for a self facial and they put a very discounted package together for a reasonable price.  They do push their California Sun Powder which I did only because I'd bought in the past.  Gives you a great healthy glow without illuminating like so many glow products.  Use sparingly.  It will last years.  Bonus is it comes with the brush at the pampering party.  They have the typical water slides along with the co-carts.  We didn't use them.  They also have the galaxy room.  This was a mystery and didn't open till late- it has an escape room in it and other gaming entertainment.  We always meant to go but never did.  Sounded interesting and something to investigate on a rainy sea day.  We're off on the Getaway in a couple weeks and have put it on our list again- only 7 days so only if it rains!  Have a great time on your cruise!

The Local allows you to take the food to go?

This was by far one of the best we did in Alaska. You got insanely close to the glacier, we saw so much wildlife I took nearly 1000 photos, and we got margarita's made from fresh ice fished out of the water. Tracy Arm Fjord & Glacier Explorer

I was so looking forward to this excursion and booked it right away and very upset when the excursion was cancelled.  It seems like Allen Marine is only doing this excursion for other cruise lines in the morning and NCL doesn't get to Juneau until 3pm so ours was cancelled. ☹️

We have never used Uber or Lyft.  Now that we're in our upper 60's, kind of doubt it will happen, but thank you for the suggestion anyway.

After we used a yellow taxi in Miami to get to the pier and the driver drove all around downtown to jack up the price, we now Uber it. We paid a fortune for a ride that should have cost a third of what we were charged, I learned very quickly how to download and use Uber

Inside the big box are the boxes containing the test kits, each is sealed individually.  THAT seal is the one they want to verify the integrity of.

Thank you!  That is what I thought but I didn't want to take the chance of screwing it up.
