Hey, I'm not making excuses for NCL! Lord knows, after one cruise with them I have enough to whine about - I choose to dwell on the positive. And have booked a lovely suite in August!

I'm just confused why someone would actually cancel their cruise, or even consider it, if no vodka is present on board.

I wouldn't cancel my cruise over it but my husband would definitely reconsider cruising with them again if their were other options available.

  2. I know this is probably a silly question but going to ask anyway 😬

All the instructions say to not open the box or the test kits are void, I just want to make sure and ask, can I open the big box they were shipped in to make sure the full order is there?

My test kits were shipped overnight, and I should have gotten them on the 6th, I keep getting delayed shipping notices from Federal Express and am now supposed to get them today 🤞, I really hope the kits will not be affected by the heat

Wow, sorry that I inconvenienced you so much that instead of just bypassing my annoying thread you stopped and spent time scolding me about it in multiple posts. I hope this made you feel really good to be able to make me feel like crap! Mission accomplished!

To explain, we were booked on the Sun on the 5th and did not have adjoining rooms. I did a ton of research for that cruise as I had the luxury of time. You can look at my posting history to see that I wasn't posting non-stop annoying posts but took the time to search and research because I had the luxury of time! Our cruise was canceled on Thursday afternoon by NCL. We quickly worked via text/email with my elderly parents who live 300 miles away to rebook on the Spirit on the 18th (only 17 days to research and prepare). I have a hearing loss and have a cochlear implant and cannot hear on the phone so this all had to be done via text/email with older people who are not quick movers in planning or in the use of tech. This time our rooms are adjoining and I saw a comment in a Facebook group about opening dividers, as well as comments saying it might be against the rules so I was confused. I did a Google search "Can the balcony dividers be opened in adjoining rooms on NCL" and Google spat back a CC post but it was in the RCCL group. I read that and then I posted. Yes, I admit I committed the evil crime of not searching the NCL group with the exact term you, the expert, used. Again, the last 48 hours have been a craze of trying to rebook a cruise and all the excursions from the 5th cruise to the 18th instead. I am so, so, very sorry to have bothered you in such a way. I hope you can forgive this horrible transgression on my part.

I will make sure to keep my mouth shut from now on and only read here and not post. As the other poster said I have only made 44 posts in my time here since 2011 and sailing on 7 cruises so it's not like I have a habit of posting frivolous questions all the time! I am so glad your 3800+ posts were all perfect and not a single one could have been answered with a search instead of a post. Congratulations.

You don't need to explain yourself to bullies nor ever let them make you feel like crap, their nasty attitude is their problem.  I actually feel bad for people like that because their lives are obviously not happy if they need to put down others to make themselves feel good. Wishing you a wonderful cruise with your family!

  4. We have a dog sledding excursion (not a helicopter glacier one) for Skagway booked and I am afraid we will not be able to dock in Skagway because of the rock slide now, does anyone who has sailed with NCL have a recommendation on a dog sledding excursion in Juneau, there are a few offered?  My daughter really wants to go on one.

*cough cough* medical necessity...I don't feel so well. I would never do such a thing. Welp, add another $200 to our cruise in August. Oh well, it'll be worth crashing in a comfy bed for a few nights without four dogs around.

Easy when there is only 1 of you, we are 4 and it would be too obvious we were lying and going on vacation.

It is what it is, I will have to order eMed for the family and spend the extra money

It looks like Juneau Tours (the company I chose in the end) runs the white bus; I had to google that to find out. I think they just use the colors to differentiate between the two shuttle companies.

Is one better than the other? Runs more frequently?  Does anything different?  Just curious which one I should pick.

First, have a wonderful cruise. Enjoy. We were cruising Alaska 2 weeks ago and the weather in Alaska was glorious (Seattle,,, not so much).

The ship invites you to have a nice leisurely breakfast. The buffet, Observation Lounge, and main dining room all serve breakfast. Your cabin steward would really like you out of the room as soon as possible so they can commence with turn over and be ready for the next cruise. We normally send our bags down with the porters to the baggage hall. And just have a hand carry with us during breakfast. All-Ashore is really around 9:30. They need everyone off (zero count) so that they can reset the ship and be prepared to start boarding the next cruise at 11:00.

If you live in the area, you probably know that the Bell Street Terminal/Pier 66 doesn't really have any good pick-up areas. It is worse on turnaround days because all of the semitrailers with provisions are double parked on the street, blocking lanes. Having someone pick you up could be a bit challenging.

No trip report? I love your trip reports!

  8. Curious as well, my FCC is from a one time price drop (after final payment) on 2 cabins I booked and paid for.  They gave the FCC to each family member but I want to transfer my kids FCC to me and my husband who paid for the cruise.

We just walked up after getting off the ship.

Is it cash only or can you use a credit card? How much do they charge now?  When we went 10 years ago, the cost was $6, I'm sure the cost is much higher now.

Happened on our last cruise. They moved our adjoining rooms to non-adjoining rooms. Didn't notice until I read fine print in some email they had sent us.  I didn't care where we moved to as long as rooms were adjoining. 4-5 hours of multiple people calling NCL, we were able to get adjoining rooms. We had to pay a little more than original booking, but were just happy to have adjoining rooms. Subsequent to cruise, NCL made a generous future cruise offer.

Adjoining rooms vs. non adjoining rooms is a huge deal for our family.

I have connecting cabins with my children booked, we even had to change the dates of our cruise to get those rooms and I would be beyond pissed if they changed my cabin.

We are flying to Seattle from JFK on July 3 for the Encore cruise to Alaska.  Our flight from JFK is at 7;15 am,  but the flight back on July 10 from Seattle to JFK is at 9:35 pm.  So we are trying to figure out what to do for about 8 hours.  Considering getting a hotel room to hang out until the flight home. Flights are very expensive, so you get what you get when you pay $199 per person, instead of $1000 per person!  BTW the airline is Alaska Air.

You're lucky, my family members got the 11:45pm flight back to JFK and arrived at 8am the next day.  They were beyond exhausted when they landed
