  1. Rude people have no common nationality.

I usually don't respond to this type of comment but I have to say that after 15 days on the Divina I have seen just as many rude and crude people on "American" cruise lines. Americans are just as bad as the rest of the world, it depends on the individual. We are on vacation why not relax and just get along?

  2. Sorry, this is a marginally related question. We are on our first MSC cruise(on the Divina) in a few weeks. The departure is listed as 7:00, and we reserved a room in the Yacht Club. What time would the ship open for boarding? I was hoping sometime before 1:00, but we are used to 4:00 Carnival departures from Miami. Thanks for any advice.

This is a separate discussion that has been discussed earlier but since you are in the Yacht club you will follow the boarding guidelines for the Yacht club and not general boarding. We were in the yacht Club and checked in at the White tent. Was taken to the reception lounge by a butler and turned over to the reception desk, checked in, drank some champagne and met other Yacht club and Cruise Critic members. After a short time we were taken to our cabin by another butler, drop off our carry on baggage and then was taken to Le Muse for Lunch. Had to find our way back to our cabin but I could have called the concierge and have them send a butler to show us the way back to our cabin.

Go early, be prepared to be spoiled and listen to all the tricks the Butlers can tell you about for your cruise.

  3. We had the butler escort the wife to some of the activaties during the day as she gets confused on where to go on the ship.

On night we were early for the nightly show so I went to the club to get us a couple of drinks. Our butler saw me and said he would take the drinks to the theatre for us. Off we go with him and a tray with our drinks on it to the middle of the theatre, I was embarrassed.

The butlers are there to help you all you have to do is ask. Like others have said earlier they will escort you off the ship at each port if you desire and tell them what time you are departing. They have a short cut to get off in Miami.

  4. You can go to the Divina roll calls and see how the Meet and Greets are handled on that ship. Not sure how they will be done on the new ship but I would think they will be the same as the Divina.

  5. Resurrecting an old thread.

I agree with all those stating that the pillows outside of the Yacht Club are terrible. It's like blown in foam. Hard to describe. Little chunks of sponge maybe?

Anyway, the pillows were so uncomfortable I was planning on bringing my own until I found this thread. Can anyone confirm/deny that Yacht club is still offering this pillow menu?

They had the pillow menu in the yacht club the first of September. I used the memory foam pillow and it was just like I have at home.

On our two cruises the Maitrds name was too difficult to pronounce so every called him by a nickname.

  6. The butler will escort you off the gangway for excursions.. The butler also will escort you to the gangway on debarkation. He also will escort you any where on the ship if you want him to take you. Tell the butler or the conceirge what you want and it will happen. :)

  7. Though I know they request it, I bucked the system and just showed up whenever I wanted. I never had a problem with a table not available and I was able to ask for a specific waiter each time. I know I'll probably get bashed for not following protocol (or etiquette for that matter) but heck, it's my vacation. ;)

Sounds like what I will do on my two upcoming cruises, select early seating and show up when I am ready. Gotta stay flexible....

  8. I have talked to MSC many times and have had no problems getting info and support after I booked. They have been very helpful in getting the status match resolved. I booked through a TA and while talking to MSC the rep asked which suite I had, when I told him he said I might like another better and asked if he could change it for me. Sounds like good service and great customer relations to me.....:)

  9. Just got off the Royal today. We ate in the Crown Grill a couple of times and always ordered a variety of steak and lobster tails. We also had them bring separate little bowls of HOT butter. Service was great as usual in any Crown Grill and the food is a couple of steps better than the MDR. Order anything you want and as many as you want anyway you want and enjoy!!!!!!!!:)
