  1. Hello!

I recently tried to book with Jayleen and she is full for when I'll be there. She recommended her uncle to me and his company is called Alaska Humpback Adventures. I was wondering if anyone had experience with him and if you would book through him. He is the same price as Jayleen. He also states he was one of the first captains with Harv and Marv.

    Any recommendations would be great!

  2. I did Nice to Antibes and Cannes return for just over $6eu in February of 2016 so I imagine your trip would be pretty cheap. The clerk told me to buy the return tickets as it would be cheaper but I really don't know if that's true.

6 Euros is still pretty cheap. Thanks for the info!

  3. You have two good options. We think the easiest would be to simply take the #200 bus, which you can catch relatively close to the cruise tender port (you can ask the tourist folks to point you in the right direction when you get off the tender). The other option is to take the train (its only about a 10 min ride). The down side to the train is that its over 1/2 mile from the port to the train station.

Thanks for this information. How long is the bus ride and how often do they run? We probably won't want to spend the whole day there but maybe a few hours.

  4. Studio bed size indeed seems smaller!

Isn't that disappointing! I'm still looking forward to cruising her, but I loved the bigger bed. This new sized bed doesn't look like a twin size or a full size. So, I'm not sure which size it is! :p

  5. There seems to be a void between the Panama canal cruise arriving in LA on May 25, 2018 and the first Alaskan cruise on June 2, 2018 - as I posted above my TA couldn't find anything on the NCL site but he feels there is probably a short Mexican Riviera cruise and then some kind of quick coastal to Seattle.

Guess you could always phone NCL and see if they know.

    Cheers!

    Dennis

Phoned NCL this morning and they aren't showing anything. They also are not showing anything for the 1 night in between the last Alaska sailing for the season in Sept. and the start of the Pacific Coastal. Not exactly sure what I'm wanting to do. But I had in my head to do a back to back at the beginning or the ending of the Alaska season.

  6. From what I can (or cannot) see the Panama Canal cruise disembarks in Los Angeles on May 25 and the first Alaska cruise embarks from Seattle on June 2. There is nothing in between. That makes me wonder if it's another cruise for industry professionals on the West Coast. That might make sense as Bliss also has no sailings listed between disembarkation in New York on May 3 and embarkation in Miami on May 10.

That makes sense, would have been lovely to have taken it up the coast to Seattle.

  7. I'm ok with the smaller bed, but what about that bottom? it looks hard.

can we put suitcases underneath still?

I'm kind of sad about the smaller bed tbh, that was one of the great things about the Studios was that it had a bigger bed!

  8. Gesh, trying to find a deal for March and so far I'm not seeing anything at all. I'm hoping for something on the Getaway in March doing the Western Carib.

Has anyone done this in the past and know when a good time might be to see some price drops?

I thought maybe booking my airfare before a cruise but I'm afraid all solo's may sail out before I see a price I'm happy with. Has anyone ever done this or am I crazy? I have an airline voucher...so it's burning a hole in my pocket. :p

  9. Between the time I booked and took my first Celebrity cruise in September and now, they are now charging over 200% for singles .I usually sail on Crystal so the fare isnt the issue so much as it is the principle of the thing. I do not use more than 1 persons worth of space and am darned if I pay over 200% on any cruise with any cruise line. What a slap in the face for those of us who either do not have anyone to travel with or choose to travel alone!

Thanks for posting this, I've never cruised Celebrity. How is it traveling solo and meeting people? I'm really just looking for something affordable for Feb/March next year that will give me a nice tan and refreshing beverages.

  10. Hello,

I know the Anthem has solo cabins (even though they are still pricey IMO) and I think the Harmony does as well. What's the easiest way of finding these cabins for upcoming cruises? Seems like almost every cruise I look up I can't find this type of cabin.

  11. I've not been on Vista but in looking at the deck plan, the forward deck 14 cabins are above the Spa - the cabins a little further aft are above some deck 12 cabins (there is no deck numbered 13). Above those Spa cabins on deck 14 is the Serenity area which potentially could be a little noisy with chair movement etc. You can go to cruisedeckplans.com and see some good diagrams of the decks.

Perhaps someone who has actually stayed in one of those Spa cabins on deck 14 has some feedback on this.

I think, and I could be wrong because I'm not looking at it anymore. The serenity is aft and the spa cabins were forward. I've stayed in a Spa cabin before on the Breeze and Splendor and can't remember what was between the two sets of cabins for the Spa.

  12. Hi all,

It's been a few years since I've cruised Carnival, hence, it's been a few years since I've been on the Carnival boards. Would anyone be able to help me out and tell me what is under deck 14? Looking at booked a Spa Cabin and just don't know what is underneath and don't want a ton of noise. I'm assuming it's the Spa itself, but not sure. Also, what about above....would there be noise?

I'm having a hard time figuring this one out, thanks!

  13. You don't even have to speak to anyone to purchase a future cruise reward - just fill out the card they put in your room and drop it in the box.

We were going to purchase towards the end of the cruise and had a few questions. They changed the promotion and were no longer giving OBC for the current cruise that we were on and were just doing 50% deposits for future cruises. To us, that was not a deal as you have to pay it all off anyway. A deal to us is when they throw in some OBC or something.

  14. I would also love to know as the lady on the Escape told me they would likely never do a pick 2 promotions again (like we got the beverage package and dining package). I didn't/don't believe her though....

Needless to say, we didn't buy any future cruise certificates as the ladies were all pretty rude.
