You will enjoy the ship - we had a great time.
The only negative aspect of the ship is that the Windjammer buffet has an awkward layout. And if you go there at peak hour (7-8am) it will be pretty packed.
The best things about the ship? The main dining room (loved the food) and the Solarium (my favorite place to hang out).
I'm
happy to hear about the MDR; DH and I prefer that over the Windjammer and I have read the Windjammer on this ship has food that is not very good.

Thank you to all of you who gave me helpful answers.

Your Hubby can smoke his cigar on the dog walking area.
really??? :(

Thank you to all the answers. I will be making a note of all the info I collect so if there are any other comments, tips, etc. keep them coming. ;)

Hubby and I will be sailing on Grandeur of the Seas in the fall. We have purchased beverage packages. He bought the Royal Replenish (he doesn’t drink alcohol) and I bought the Ultimate. I have some questions about getting drinks on The Grandeur of the Seas:
Are there Freestyle soda machines, and the location.
Where can I find fresh squeezed orange juice?
Where can I get specialty coffees?
Is Starbucks coffee included in the package? Where do you purchase the coffee? Royal’s website states: If you purchase the ultimate alcohol package, on Royal Caribbean ships without a freestanding Starbucks store, you can use the package to get Starbucks beverages too.
Royal Caribbean ships with a freestanding Starbucks are the Oasis class cruise ships (Oasis of the Seas, Harmony of the Seas and Allure of the Seas).
For all other Royal Caribbean ships, head to Cafe Promenade or Cafe Latte-tudes and show your card when ordering a Starbucks drink just like if you were ordering a beer or cocktail at the bar.
——Hubby smokes cigars, I’m wondering where the smoking area(s) is (are) on the ship?
Any other helpful hints are appreciated as we have not cruised on this class ship before.

Does anyone know what beach the "Beach Loungers for Two" are on. and also is getting in the water very good in that section? I have read one review on the RCCL website (under the Coco Cay Excursions) that the swimming there is terrible and you have to go to another beach to get in the water.

If we're being honest, we are all a little crazy... I, for one, appreciate the continued posting on old threads such as this, since I still haven't sailed :)
I totally agree with LegalE2010, I am just starting to research Grandeur of the seas because we are contemplating sailing on her in the near future and know nothing about her. I am interested in any and all info about her.

I was able to make all the dining reservations by doing one at a time!
-
Only 2 ways that I know of
Go to your calendar and do each day or call and have rci do it for you
OK I'll try the calendar way. I called today but they are closed. :(

This is only my second time making dinner reservations on line for RCCL and first time doing MY TIME dining. I don't know what I'm doing wrong. After I finished doing the first night I don't know how to do the rest of the nights. It either says cancel or modify when I go back to do the other nights. Please tell me how to reserve for the whole week correctly.
Thank You:)

Should the water shoes be enclosed or can one wear Teva water sandals?

I hear the Solarium Bar is a good place to have a Sail-a-way get-together. Can someone who has sailed tell me if a normal variety of cocktails are available there and is the beverage packages accepted as payment?
(a person on our roll call read only healthy beverages are served there and they do not accept beverage packages.)
-
I also would be interested in seeing a specialty coffee and tea menu.
-
The package also includes bottled water.
-
There's hidden gold.
Now that would make it worth visiting:D

The forts are AWESOME!
/QUOTE]
Just wondering what you feel makes a fort AWESOME. DH likes to go to forts...me...not so much. Maybe I will understand it if I hear someone else's persceptive.

Smoothies are available almost everywhere. Pool bars, main theatre. They are not available at the schooner bar, Two 70 or Boleros.
Are the smoothies included in the Royal Replenish and Ultimate packages?

I had not heard yet whether they have ever run the planned 'Mamma Mia after party' in the Music Hall?
Did the email only mention the supposed 'Wink'?
The Mamma Mia after party was mentioned also
-
Just read the following about WINK in an e-mail we received from RCCL.
Haven't read a word about this venue. Can anyone tell me where is it and a little more info about it?
"WINK
With class and sass—and your inhibitions left at the door—Royal Caribbean Productions invites you to an adults-only diversion, infusing the best of cabaret-style performance art, premium spirits, and late-night club life into one smashing event."

While I'm delighted about having a nice covered area to smoke when it's chilly and windy, those are really the most innefficient loungerws for the purpose. Hopefully they'll be changed to something more reasonable by the time we get on the Quantum.
I have been thinking that since the first time I saw a photo of this area.
While on our last cruise (Celebrity Infinity) there was a smoking area by the pool that had about 6 group seatings of 4 chairs each. It held at least 24 people. LOTS of time this area was full and the ship held less than half the amount of passengers Quantum does.
This area on the Quantum does not look set up well for conversations between 2 or more people who aren't a couple; or that it will hold many people.
No flamers please; I don't smoke but hubby like cigars and sometimes I like to accompany him and have a beverage. On the Infinity and again on the Quantum we are traveling with another couple and sometimes the 4 of us would like to chat while the men smoke. Those loungers may be fine by the pool but definitely look inefficient in the smoking area. Maybe once they start having burn holes in them they will change them to regular comfortable chairs.

I have 2 questions hopefully someone can answer.
I am wondering what the difference is between the lunch and dinner menus at Jamie's Italian
and
I read there were very few places to get drinks in the morning. I am wondering where beverages like Mimosa's, Screwdrivers, and Bloody Mary's are available.
We are traveling with another couple and hope to put our beverage packages to good use. :D
-
i am wondering which bars and complimentary dining areas are open in the morning where Mimosa's, Bloody Mary's, and Screwdriver's are served.
-
Has it been changed to complimentary on all sailings or just the inagural sailing?
I just check the Cruise Planner for my cruise of Feb 20, 2015 and a $20 covercharge is still listed. It also states HOURS OF OPERATION: 11AM - 4PM, MEALS SERVED: Dinner.

A large cabin crawl has been arranged by the excellent members of our roll call so you might find a few cabin pics going up after the crawl. Think it's tomorrow or the day after
would love to see photo's of cabin 11644 or 11646,
Thank you, and have a wonderful cruise.
Questions about Grandeur of the Seas

I'm with Wanderista; as long as the coffee bar has Frappacinos, chais and iced coffee beverages with a shot I'm all good.
The reason I asked about Starbucks is because the RCCL website states: If you purchase the ultimate alcohol package, on Royal Caribbean ships without a freestanding Starbucks store, you can use the package to get Starbucks beverages too.
Royal Caribbean ships with a freestanding Starbucks are the Oasis class cruise ships (Oasis of the Seas, Harmony of the Seas and Allure of the Seas).
