  1. For my 9 night cruise on the Quantum in February we were able to sign up for 4 shows; Mama Mia, Starwater, Sonic Odyssey, and a Guest Entertainer.

I am looking forward to hearing what other entertainment there is throughout the cruise. When cruising with Celebrity we were used to entertainment every night and I have heard RCCL has better entertainment than Celebrity.

To all of you on the Nov. 2nd cruise I hope you have a wonderful time. Enjoy the beautiful new ship and new Cape Liberty Terminal. :)

  2. Depends on the ship and muster station. There are still many ships with outdoor muster stations where you passengers are standing. If you cannot stand for long, see your muster station leader and they will accomodate you.

If your muster station is out on deck, you can check in and then go inside and sit down. There will be s staff member there to demonstrate exactly what they are doing out on deck.

Thank you for this information; I appreciate your help.

  3. Actually that is a Question. Is Royal Caribbean Muster Drills outdoors standing up?

This is very important to me because I can't stand for more than a few minutes and if Royal still makes you stand outside I will have difficulty; however, I feel they are important to attend in case there is a true emergency.

Celebrity hasn't had outdoor muster in years; at least not since my back surgery in 2008.

  4. If I ever decide to do a future one, say after my Quantum cruise, I will have learned a lot from this experience and hopefully make it even better.

The funny thing is, I joined the Celebrity Constellation the day this cruise ended. Celebrity has been my preferred line up until now. It was a 5 night cruise and it was so disappointing that I can't muster any enthusiasm to even consider reviewing it. I had been on Contellation twice before, both 14 night cruises, and even though not in the same league as the Solstice Class, have a certain affection for it.

How ones perspective can change. My Oasis experience has completely moved the goalposts.

    Warm regards

Just wondering when you cruise on the Quantum will be? We are sailing on her Feb 2015 and it would be awesome if you write a review about her before we sail.

We have sailed Celebrity 12 times and was our cruise line of choice but after our last two cruises being disappointing we have decided to try RCCL a try and have 3 cruises booked. I am happy to hear how pleased you were with Oasis.

  5. Use to be something you could count on at every dinner service, but as others have said, have not seen it in awhile. Why give away more alcohol then need be,with the drink packages. Let the guest ask for it instead. Heck it's getting harder and harder to even get bar service in the dining room anymore. Times are a-changing with Royal and not for the better I fear.

OH NO; Our next three cruises are on Royal because after cruising Celebrity 12 times we feel we they have gone downhill so much we are ready for something different.

  6. We've done them with and without the drink package. I will say that with the drink package, it was much more difficult to get the after dinner shots. A few times the waiter said he had no clue what we were talking about so we just ordered shots of Baileys (that is usually the flavor of the shots they serve us with something else added).

If we get the drink package we'll just order what we want like you did.

I'm sure before the beverage packages they brought the shots around to increase their profits which would not be the case with the packages being sold.

  7. Hi,

If it's the Freedom you are sailing on, your friends may prefer the Western itinerary. The reason being that there is one more port and in general the port days are a bit longer. The eastern route has 3 sea days and the St Thomas day starts pretty late. Also Coco Cay is missed quite a bit, so you may end up with 4 days at sea which may be rough for someone prone to motion sickness.

It will be on Allure of the Seas; I've read you need 2 weeks to do everything on the ship; although we won't be doing the sports stuff like the flow rider etc. so not sure we will need the full 2 weeks. If not we will be relaxing and enjoying some down time.

  8. The direction you're going has 50ft seas. Sorry :-)

February is ideal for Caribbean cruising. No difference, eastern or western.

    :)

Thank you, that's what I thought.

DH and I are doing B2B Western and Eastern and now we have 2 other couples that would like to join us, but only for one of the weeks. One of them gets a little sea sick and wanted me to ask which week may be calmer. DH and I don't get sea sick so we never worried about it before.

  9. One of the Dining Rooms to be open for lunch; just like currently if you want lunch in an MDR one level at one entry location is open. Not everyone goes, it is usually a short window of time, and lunch is usually limited to an area of one level. I don't see why DD would preclude lunch.

Yes, some of the dining venues have lunch; I hope at least one has the Tutti Salad.

  10. I have been on one RCCL cruise in 2010 on the Explorer but have 3 booked for the future.

I am wondering what makes a Tutti Salad so popular. I believe I read it is in the MDR at lunch. Is it more than a regular salad bar like in the buffet?

  11. Thank you to my dad and all like him! He was a paratrooper with the 101st Airborne Division. Went in the night before. You know, if it wasn't for all those guys we'd be speaking german right now! He will always be my hero!

    Elvis

I agree, thank you to all those who have served, especially during war time, and on this day in 1944.

My father-in-law was also in the 101st Airborne Division. When he hit the beaches of Normandy he was shot in the Ankle and taken as a POW. He was later released but lived the rest of his life with a bad ankle because of the little medical care he was given.

He NEVER spoke about that time in his life.

When my son was in 6th grade my father-in-law went to my son's school and spoke to his class about D day and all that went with it. It was a very moving talk. One I will certainly never forget. One thing he mentioned is after D day he could never again hear taps without tears in his eyes.

He is no longer with us but I thank him and all the that served.

  12. Yes, everyone is correct. I would suggest the Allure or Oasis. Just did Allure last month. Great ship and much to do for the 11 year old.

When you board go to see diamond concierge and he or she will help you with getting reservations if you cannot get them on line. They also can make a lot of things happen if you there are no reservations left.

There is also a special place to view parades and do continental breakfast. Both perks for diamond members. Also, there is a bar for your please from 5-830pm each night for your enjoyment, not the child though.

    Have a great trip.

We have booked the Allure and are Diamond and would enjoy this special place if it makes viewing parades easier. What is the special place to view parades? I have only been on one RCCL ship; the Explorer and it was very hard to see the parade because the promenade was so packed. (I am thinking you are referring to the Diamond Lounge). Is there a substantial amount of space for the viewers or do you have to get there super early to get a good viewing spot?
