  1. Thanks for all the replies. I guess I was thinking they might have some fallish, pumpkins, leaves, etc. decorations. I've seen pictures of that from other lines.

We do like the Thanksgiving foods and although we have reservations at some of the speciality restaurants, that Thursday evening we will be in the dining room. We figured that would be the way to get a traditional or close to dinner.

Either way we are just happy to be on a cruise ship.

    Thanks again,

    Kayla

  2. We sailed on Thanksgiving last year. It really is not a big deal on the ship. The main dining room will have a pseudo-Thanksgiving dinner. Other than that, there will be a few paper cut-outs taped on the walls throughout the ship in an effort to decorate, but it looks more like a Kindergarten classroom. You might not notice them if you weren't looking for them. Keep in mind that 98% of the staff do not celebrate Thanksgiving, so don't be one of the countless people who wish them a happy Thanksgiving. Haha.

Hmm...that's too bad. Oh well! Note to self...do not wish staff a Happy Thanksgiving! LOL

    Thanks for the info.

  3. If the ship isn't decorated for Christmas when you board, they should start sometime that week. There will be Thanksgiving food that evening in the MDRs and the buffet. The specialties will serve their regular menus.

Ok. Thanks for the info. Christmas already? WOW!

  4. I have sailed other lines during holidays, but not NCL. We will be on the Jewel during Thanksgiving week. Will the ship be decorated for the holiday? Will there be a special Thanksgiving meal on Thursday? These things will not affect our cruise, just curious.

    Thank you,

    Kayla

  5. I have done the Mexican Riveria on Carnival, NCL, and Princess. Carnival was definitely the most upbeat/loud of the 3. I will say that on my last Princess one (last week) it was MUCH quieter with pool games and activities than any of my previous Princess Mexico cruises. Although I prefer the quieter calmer atmosphere, this one was really lacking, even at sail away.

  6. On one of the Princess roll calls for the Mexican Riviera someone said that the famous rock arch in Cabo had been turned to a pile of rocks by the hurricane in September.

Does anyone know if this is true or not? How about Lover's Beach, is it still there?

Really? I had not heard that. I hope not. Let's hope someone who's cruised there recently comes and clears this up.

  7. I remember the many jellyfish last year. Neve had seen it in years before. Till now there are none. Difficult to tell how it will be next month.

Ok. Thank you! We are there next week, so hopefully they will stay away a little longer.

  8. Has anyone been to Las Caletas recently? Like within this month? We are hoping to do this excursion next week. We did it last year at this time and there was a jellyfish invasion while we were there. We are wondering if this is typical for this time of the year or if it was anomaly. Anyone have any idea?

  9. We've been booking insides for the last several years. Why?, because we want to cruise more often. Yes it's dark, but leave the TV on on the ships webcam channel. Personally, I like the dark. I sleep best when it's cool, quiet and dark. And adding the rolling of the cruise, oh it's heavenly.

  10. no formal nights on NCL. The only time you need to dress nicer than shorts is the aft MDR (less casual) and LeBistro in the evenings. Decent jeans are allowed anywhere, any time.

NCL does have a night they call "dress up or not night" or "norwegian's night out" where they have photographers around the ship and people tend to dress nicer, but it's not required.

While some folks love to dress up, the lack of requirement to do so is one of my favorite things about NCL. Allows me to pack as light as possible (no jackets, ties, dress shoes, etc.)

Thank You! Just the information I was wanting. This is one of the reasons my dh likes NCL. I can't make him dress up. :D

I will be on the Star and I believe they have 2 dining rooms. So the aft one is the only one that is "less" casual? If I am understanding you correctly, my dh can wear nicer shorts to the mdr other than the aft one. Yes?

    Kayla

  11. I have a question or really just need confirmation...does NCL have formal nights? Do we need to dress up in order to have dinner in the mdr? My memory tells me it's a dress up or not.

Just need to know for packing purposes.

    Thank You,

    Kayla

  12. Twice we have denied being sick on embarkation day. The first time dh was getting over a cold. Still had an occasional cough and was extremely tired. I normally do all the check in for us so no problem as long as he didn't cough. He was getting over it and slept most of the first 2-3 days of the cruise. The second time it was all me. I ate something on the drive to the cruise port. Stopped several times to visit various bathrooms with vomiting and diarrhea. We did drive down the day before. By the next morning I was perfectly fine, not even light headed. I was not going to miss the vacation we had saved up for and waited anxiously for because of a bad burrito.

Would I deny being sick again? Under those circumstances you bet!!
