  1. Finally after over a month got the following answer from Cunard (had to contact the Office of the President to get a response): "Please find attached a copy of your on board account from your recent voyage: As you can see, a charge was added to you on board account after 6pm on Sunday 22nd May 2022. As you will know, you disembarked the ship the morning of Sunday 22nd May and as such, this charge is not yours. I sincerely apologise for this mis-charge you have incurred. To explain, our systems roll over on the day of disembarkation/embarkation to charge any purchases to the guests who embark the ship and are booked in your stateroom. However, there was a delay in this roll over process and as such, the new guests first purchase was charged to your account in error." So the charge was for the spa service and it was used by a guest in our cabin - the only problem is that the date and the time was 10 hours after we disembarked. Now, I will give Cunard the benefit of the doubt that it was not intentional. But if they knew that "there was a delay in this roll over process", wouldn't it be prudent to check all guests accounts to make sure there are no errors? Or did they just hope that some guests will not notice the extra charge?
  2. The issue was not the booking. The issue was the cancellation.
  3. You mean the lifeboats? They are on deck 6, so you don't really see them unless you look down. And again, for me, the cabin on a cruise ship is for sleep and shower. Couldn't care less about the view. On Crystal we booked OV with obstructed view (lifeboats on the same level) - couldn't care less.
  4. Since there are only 20 of them, maybe he wants more availability for himself.. 🙂
  5. Not sure what do you mean.. the views are the same from most cabins, the cabin size on the Marina and Riviera is exactly the same as the balcony cabins, and the location is the best on the ship (deck 7 mid ship). Those are our favorite cabins since we rarely use the balcony (we don't come to a cruise to sit on a balcony).
  6. If I'm not mistaken, the upgrade on Oceania gets you the ability to stream, not necessarily a faster speed. I believe the speed would be the same (not the fastest, but decent, I think around 2-3MB).
  7. Our friends who have been a loyal X customers for over 10 years just returned from a cruise on the Equinox after not cruising for 3 years, and were so disappointed. The food, the entertainment, the activities, the demographics - they didn't like one single aspect of their cruise. O is in a different league. Yes, the entertainment is low key, but entertainment on X is also not what it used to be. Plus a much better food, no crowds, no lines, everyone is treated the same regardless of their cabin category. And the most surprising thing - with the recent price increases on X, many times O can be actually similar price or even cheaper, especially if you include all the extras. Plus O has one of the best loyalty programs. After 10 cruises you get pre paid gratuities on all cruises, $250 on board credit and more.
  8. No, you explained it perfectly, thank you. I just tried it and it works for other excursions. The issue is that this specific excursion is on disembarkation day, and it doesn't appear in the calendar, so your method cannot be used. What is interesting that the method that I tried works on the other excursions too, but not on this one. Maybe it's because the others are free (included) but this one is an extra cost..
  9. This is how you do it? Click on the arrow, "Delete" pop up, click on it?
  10. Is it possible to cancel an excursion on my.silversea? There is an option to modify, but when you click on the arrow and "Delete", nothing happens. Is it a bug?
  11. Same as you - Dec.13-23. Yes, we were lucky with Covid. And again, I'm not disputing that Paul is a nice guy, I was just not exciting about his presence and overall performance. On the other hand, entertainment and activities are not among Oceania's strengths, so maybe all O CDs are similar to him..
  12. Well, I'm not a veteran, and we had an opposite experience. He never acknowledged us, never addressed us by name and never contacted us after the mid-cruise survey (and we did make few comments). Was he friendly? Yes. But not everyone who is friendly is a good CD.
  13. And yet somehow the other companies figured it out, and even much larger ships sometimes have shorter embarkation times. What they can do? A lot. 1. Hire more staff. 2. Provide people with water at the very least. 3. Be more efficient. For example, one out of 5 stations was dedicated to filing the same questionnaire that people filed at home (the health declaration). 4. Don't ask people to upload their photos and then take one anyway at the terminal (we had the same photos uploaded at Oceania sailing in December and they were perfectly acceptable).
  14. I hear this excuse over and over again. In our case, all people except for security were wearing Cunard uniforms. Not sure why would they do it if they are not Cunard employees.
  15. Agree.. but in our case the activities were very limited. We don't expect the CD to make many announcements (I agree that I would consider it not a good thing), but we hardly saw him even on evening shows.
  16. Paul Baya on the Riviera sailing in December 2021. I was not impressed at all. He seems like a nice guy, but we hardly saw him.
  17. I completely agree with Hank about "loyalty". We have the same philosophy about cruise lines. We owe them nothing and they owe us nothing. We just switched to TA who provides around 9-10% rebate on most cruises. The customer service has been good so far, and I doubt we will get more from other TAs, so probably will stay with her, but will keep our eyes open.
  18. And Seaborn comparable cruises are around $7k. When you account for flights and excursions, this is very comparable to SS, maybe slightly cheaper.
  19. Speaking of Regent.. I just compared few sailings on SS with Regent. For 9-11 nights Mediterranean cruise in 2023, SS average price is around $10k CAD. A comparable 10 nights cruise on Regent is around 14-15k CAD. As far as I can see, the only difference is that Regent includes business class flights and SS economy, but SS gives an option to upgrade to business for $2k CAD. So if you upgrade, they become comparable, and regent is still $2-3k CAD more expensive. Am I missing something?
  20. I believe it is indicated very clearly on their website that with P2P the 15% deposit is non refundable. We were in the same boat, but decided to take the risk. You can always insure the deposit payment only. I agree that it's very harsh, but it's up to us to decide if we accept the risk or not. I don't see where it's SS fault.
  21. When a business charges your credit card without your authorization, without even a simple email explaining what the charges are for - yes, I call it stealing.
  22. Unfortunately CIBC Visa is much less friendly.
  23. I called the CC company, they advised me to try and resolve it with Cunard first.
  24. It has been 3 weeks since Cunard stole money from my account - and Cunard is silent. No reply. Tried to call, but not willing to spend 30+ minutes on hold.
