I don't know the urgency of doing your pre-cruise work, but if you have some time before your cruise, I'd delete the Medallion App and wait until December 1st for the newer Princess Cruises App. Information is scarce and it is unclear how much downward compatability there will be for the new app, whether this is just a glitch fix or a whole new enchilada, but since your cruise will be under the newer version, I'd start over in December.

That is just my opinion, but Ken the cruiser offers sound suggestions for the moment.

What do you know about the NEW Princess App that you can explain?  Thanks😀👍

Question: can you use different devices on a 'one device' package? I know that I can only have 1 device at a time... but can I log off of one device and then log in on a different one?

Yes I use my IPhone & my IPad with the same plan. The only catch is that they both can’t be signed on at the same time.

It depends on which ship you are on.  It costs more on the Royal class ships.  The $130/$110 is for the Royal class.  It is approx. $110/$95 for non-Royal class.

For anyone that has recently done the chef’s table what was the charge with alcohol?

    Thanks!

    Princess has raised the bar

Tonight I went to the 360 Experience, a new experiential dining experience that is a visual and taste experience like none other.  This was a first class experience, something I would expect Walt Disney World to pull off.  It is part movie and part dinner.  Imagine watching someone prepare lemon pasta in Italy on a 360 wrap around screen around your dining area and then within a few moments they bring the very same dish to you.  It was almost emotionally overwhelming.  This is will be hard for other cruise lines to top.  And now they have the computerized projection system in place they can adapt and change the experience for the future.  Princess really needs someone to come over and promote this new feature.... John Heald are you listening?  Several perfect courses were served with impeccable timing in this 90 minute show.  Whether you are one person or a group of people, this is truly a must see.

We will be joining the Sky Princess in January and I was wondering if anyone knows what restaurants besides the buffet are open during embarkation. Thank you in advance!

I’ve been on 35+ cruises on Princess so here’s what I know.

There is always the main dinning room, usually on deck 6 opened, from 12 noon to 1:30 pm. It’s always my 1st choice to have a relaxing meal with a beverage. There is also food on the pool deck, hamburgers etc & a pizza restaurant.

On deck 7 there is Alfredo's Pizzeria & the Ocean Terrace Sushi both an excellent choice for a sit down meal.

    Hope than this helps.

On 11/29 I’ll be on the 5 night Cabo San Lucas cruise on the Discovery Princess. My question is since the ship is staying overnight in Cabo will they be running the tender boats all night or at what time will they stop? I ask because I’m considering booking a night at a Cabo hotel in case the tenders stop too early and I stay out too late. I’ve had overnight stays in Cabo and Puerto Vallarta with Carnival and with both I do recall getting back on the ships quite late in the night, I just can’t find any info on it with Princess. Thanks

I’ve been to Cabo many times with an overnight & after a certain time they ran once a hour so you just have to time things according to their schedule or book a room until the morning. That would solve everything.

I have a fractured ankle.  I used both wheelchair and walker.  I needed the aisle wheelchair to get to my seat.  Airline very happy to assist, they just need notice.  Walker could not fit down aisle.  Good luck

Thanks.  I’ll probably have granulated to a walker. I’ve already requested the wheel chair assist on United & Princess to not have to carry anything heavy.

    Thanks again to everyone.

  8. I upgraded through bidding from Stateroom: C707 (Balcony: BD), Deck 10 Caribe on the Emerald Princess  to Stateroom: C617 (Balcony: B2. I don’t see any difference in the staterooms other than the location. I thought that I would be getting a sofa.  Anyone know the difference?  Both balconies look to be the same size.

Not totally sure...but I think you can bid for an upgrade *without* your TA.

Yes you can bid for an upgrade. I’m doing that for a December Caribbean cruise & my T/A does not have to be involved at all.

My cruise is 14 days & I’ve bid to go from a standard balcony on the Caribbean Deck on the Emerald Princess to a premium balcony for $100, (it’s $200) because I going solo, but having a sofa in the stateroom is a BIG plus. About $14 per day.

I’ve had a bid excepted before & it was worth it.

I just looked at the minimum bid for a Mini Suite is $1,270..No thank you.

Traveling solo can be real expensive. At least one other cruise line is opening a number of staterooms at no additional charge.

I thought it was only on two ships - Discovery and Enchanted.

You are correct. I’m on the Discovery in April & have started a list to turn in for this dinner. Looking forward to a great meal with my photos to share.

Discovery on November 29. I think it popped up in the last couple of weeks,  but I booked the Bistro at least a couple of months ago.

Interesting as it’s not available on my Princess App.

The port will provide wheel chair assistance from curbside (if you are lucky...otherwise a very long walk from street to terminal at San Francisco).  There may be a wait.  One "driver" from check in through security (port agent).  Another "driver" from the waiting lounge to get you onboard (Princess crew).

Definitely bring a cane.  I haven't seen so many walkers as I have seen more "rollators". There are many different versions/some very compact/some triangular.

Hope you have a cabin more central on the ship so that you won't have much traveling to do.  A ship is the best place to recover from surgery.  Better than a rehab facility!

I was lucky & just hurt my back so no surgery. I do have a back brace that I’ve been told to use as long as I have back pain.

Where I live & the stairs to get to my unit I’ve been advised by medical people to not attempt to take something like that Up or Down my stairs as it would be a safety hazard so that’s a definite NO for me.

We were curious as to how many guests would pay the $149.  We just disembarked on the Discovery and were told that all seats for eacg night were filled for the 360.  We don't book the Suites and yet were invited three times to enjoy the 360 Experience within the last year.  We thoroughly enjoyed each Experience but would definitely not pay $149 for it.

Curious as to whether you would ever pay $149 for a dinner anywhere?

I do know that in San Francisco you would pay a lot more $ for a meal like that.

I was looking at the app for my upcoming Discovery Princess cruise.  It is now showing as an option to book 360 pre-cruise.  It is listed under Experiential Dining (vs Specialty dining) in the Dine My Way tab.

How soon is your cruise? My December 9th, Caribbean Cruise, on the Emerald Princess I get the message that it’s to soon for any specialty dinning & my April cruise on the Discovery Princess it’s also not available.

    Tom😀

  15. I’ll be on a cruise from Ft Lauderdale so it will be interesting. At least if you’re wheel chair you can bypass the line. Hopefully I’ll not need a walker very soon & will just have a cane but having a wheel chair so I don’t have to carry anything heavy will be nice.
