  1. Another analogy is $75 per night at motel 6 then jump to $275 Hyatt Regency then jump to Ritz Carlton or Mandarin Oriental. A logical person would expect amenities and service to elevate each time. If one is used to the Ritz that person would not think the Hyatt was up to par. But expecting Ritz service at the Hyatt is foolish! and would most certainly have the client feeling like the original poster.

  2. We just got off the Carnival Vista in June. We were taking the kids for graduation. We took Carnival due to itinerary and length. Being a brand new ship we thought how bad could it be? Since it was a 9 port in 10 days we didn't care one way or the other. For a Med cruise there were lots of kids. We had anytime dining. There are no table cloths on the tables making the dining room look like a large Denny's. Food was just ok but you were able to find things that were good. The most stunning phenomenon was the dress! Shorts, flip flops, tee shirts during dinner and not just some but many. Then there was the game of duck duck goose performed by some kids around a large table in the center of the room. Alternative dining was good, Guys burgers, pizza was very good, a taco/burrito bar, a sushi bar, steak house etc... The ship for being new was a real let down, it was plain and there is no grand atrium. The ship layout is very hard to navigate. No main theatre. While we enjoyed ourself we certainly would not cruise again on Carnival. We really enjoyed the IMAX theatre! It really was state of the art and ran new movies that were out in movie theatres. There were some good bands as well. We did find ourselves at least once a day wishing we were back on Princess. Without being snooty, snobby or a prude the kind of clientele was so different from Princess. Think tractor pull:cool:

Oh I forgot... Coffee real brewed coffee everywhere. It was my favorite thing about Carnival (are you listening Princess) Beds were comfy and the shower was larger than Princess (which I appreciated) interactive TV was a nice perk with many free movies as well as pay.

  3. For the life of me I can't wrap my head around a premium cruise line serving syrup coffee. And no it's not fine, it taste terrible! This has to be my only gripe about Princess. Having to go to 1 designated station to wait in line for a cup of brewed coffee is ridiculous to me. We just got off the Carnival Vista (ya I know) but they had coffee stations with fresh brewed coffee and of course all dining venues had brewed coffee as well. So if Carnival can serve real coffee why can't Princess???? I'm gonna go brew a cup right now:rolleyes:

  4. This has to be my only pet peeve with Princess. No brewed coffee available anywhere. We just got off the new Carnival Vista (by no means an endorsement) however they had brewed coffee at several stations, plenty of cups etc... Surely if Carnival can have brewed coffee everywhere so can Prncess. The coffee on Princess if you can actually call it that is horrible.

  5. I so much want to love Princess as much as ya'll do!!!

Our only Princess cruise was on Caribbean Princess, and we were not fans. What I think is funny, is that it was the same sort of gushing about Princess that I find on this thread that caused me to choose Princess for our most recent cruise; and, I have to admit, that also caused me to feel disappointed with the cruise: Princess fans were so enthusiastic that I expected so much more than I got on Princess.

I have to say that Princess cruisers are some of the most enthusiastic cheerleaders for their preferred cruise line of any I know. But I have found that try as I might, I can rarely get Princess fans to say specifically what it is they love so much about Princess.

I can't help but feel that we either chose the wrong Princess ship -- CB was quite a bit bigger than we prefer -- or that we just somehow don't "get" whatever it is about Princess that fans love. I sometimes think we just haven't "seen the light."

Though it may not be any time soon, I am still open to sailing on one of the smaller Princess ships to see it I have a "road to Damascus" sort of experience. My hubby, who was even less enthusiastic about our CB cruise than I was, will have to be convinced that the smaller size of the ship will make the difference.

The few specific positives about Princess mentioned on this board are also true of HAL, and some also of Celebrity, yet folks seem to be stuck on Princess. Is it an "if it ain't broke" situation, or is there really some magic that Princess has that HAL and Celebrity lack?

I would have no problem sailing on either Celebrity or Royal Caribbean, both have a similar feel to Princess. Having just sailed on Carnival's newest and largest ship the differences are glaring and too many to list. For me Princess just has a classy feel, not pretentious or cold. It's kind of like goldilocks it is just right. It is a bang for the buck ratio I think. Sure spending twice as much might get you a better experience on the ultra luxury lines it just seems Princess has the 40 to 60 crowd in it's corner. So whether its MUTS or the dining experience or specialty restaurants to us Princess feels like the sort of resorts that we like to go to. Having done several Caribbean cruises I also would like to know what you didn't like?

  6. We just returned from a Med cruise on Carnival's newest ship ( we had to due to itinerary and timing) We thought how bad could it be? Well; thank goodness it was a 10 day cruise with 9 ports so we were not onboard much. We found ourselves commenting daily how much we miss Princess!

  7. What cabin is that?

Keith it was L721. It was the new cabins installed following the major dry dock last year. It was supposed to have a complete wrap around but in actuality had 2 different balconies. One accessible from the bedroom slider it was 28 ft long and the rear balcony accessible from 2 aft facing sliders. A nice cabin since it has a completely different layout from Princess standard box suite layout.

  8. That number means nothing until you state for how many days and from what category you were already booked.

I got an upsell offer last week from a mini to a full suite on a 3 night cruise for $199 PP and turned it down. On 3 Nights you only get Sabitini breakfast on two mornings and no specialty dinner which comes only on longer sailing.

12 night Med. The new Lido Penthouse with 3 sliding glass doors, and 40 feet of balcony;) from a mini.

  9. Certainly can't blame them.....this kind of behavior is what changed the rules for the coffee card.

It's no different than Insurance, workers comp, taxes, and the general cost of things. Take away the fraud, deceit, and people trying to screw the system and everything would be a lot cheaper! yes even drink programs:D

  10. Isn't this the current conscious of our country? What a shame! What happened to American Pride? It's all about how one can get over, cheat, steal etc... No wonder our kids flocked to Bernie Sanders. Our beloved country needs an awakening. Let's get back to values. Ok I'm off my soap box now.

  11. Give a thought to the midship minis, when enhanced dining (club class ) kicks in on your ship. It's not going to be available to other minis.

At $1000 more pp no thank you! For $2000 you could eat in Sabatinis and the Crown grill every night and still be ahead.
