Can CK reservations be made day of, or do you have to make them in advance? In a GS.

do not wait until you board.....respond to concierge letter if you are in a GS or above...we always do that and have not had a problem..but it could be if many pinnacles are on board..better safe than miss out

  2. from what a RC staff member told me, the private RC area is protected by armed guards outside the property and a "wall"(yes it works)...the border guards around Labadee don't play...no one tries to cross the boarder and enter RC property there....99.9% safe, if RC/captain has any doubts they will not jeopardize passenger safety

  3. rci does provide non supervised meet ups for 18-20 year olds every evening in a location on the ship.

they can also attend all the adult venues and activities, the only thing they cannot do is drink alcohol-which is a great lesson to learn-that adults can have fun and a great time, without drinking alcohol

my just 20 year old has been cruising with us for 15 years..he has experienced the 18, 19 and 20 year old ship experience and had a great time on each one.

  4. we, DW and 20 yo DS,  book a suite for cabin size, as we like to hang out in it and the large veranda-we love the CK and all the benefits too.....we have always sailed during spring/fall/winter break.....when Pins usually don't sail....we were just on a 12/13 harmony sailing ( Andy C and his family were on that one too)...no PIN issues...there were PINS but not in mass...in fact some Pins shared their fellow Pins feel entitled over suite guests.......

go and enjoy the larger room/veranda and all the benefits they come with.....avoid off season sailing and you will not have a problem

We are deciding between a 7 night cruise and a 9 night ABC island cruise from Florida in late 2019 with extended family. We will have 5-10 family members in the 20-30 age range but I'm worried that if we do the 9 night, the majority of the ship is going to be an older crowd and it will be hard for them to meet people.

I know that usually the 3-6 nights attract a younger crowd and the longer ones attract older. Has anybody had any experience with the 8-9 night Caribbean sailings? I believe Navigator is doing them this year and Explorer next year.

    Thanks!

if I read this correctly the 9 night explorer is 12/13.....plenty of families and college age adults will be on winter break and sailing...those ports are great too...go without worries....

Just wondering about tipping at Coastal Kitchen and Suite Lounge.  Are they the same staff for the duration of the cruise?  Want to figure out if it is easier to tip at the end of the cruise.

Also, I know different people will have different sense as to what is appropriate for tipping.  So this is not a question about what is right but what you do.  If you get decent service at Coastal Kitchen, how much do you tip?

Finally, the Indian cuisine looks delish!  So I suppose it is okay to mention that we would be interested for one of our evening meals.  Is there more we need to do?

    THanks again!

we are not a pin, and always stay in a suite....we were fortunate to have the same waiter for all meals in CK (except of one evening, out waiter was the CK runner-but our "covering waiter was great)..we tipped the CK managers, bar tenders, waiters, concierges, chef-who gave us special meals/appys and deserts ....they ranged from $20, $50-$100...aside from the gratuities included ...none of which I believe go to CK/SL staff ....nothing is "required", but the staff there were great and made our cruise outstanding

Andrew, I would love to have you over the next time you are in Miami. I appreciate your offering informative advice to folks on here. That is my goal.

The old people loved this cruise so much I booked Symphony this same week next December.

as far as stair lights go, I was reporting what I was told by the occupants of the CLS I visited during a room crawl this cruise. I was there in the room during the day and all the stair lights were on. Albeit, they may not have known how to turn them off? But they said it’s on all night.

Both my mother in law and my mom took a bad spill in the GS bathtub. FYI to those of you who are not as nimble anymore that this tub is dangerous. If you book this room it may help to bring a bath pad for the tub.

We hope they feel better. They may feel more pain tomorrow. They were, and you FIL, were very friendly and nice to us... we feel adopted
