  1. I am sorry to disagree with you, but most of what you point out ARE new ship problems. Overcrowding? Yep, and the first month of sailings were during the holidays when the ships are most full, probably at or near capacity. Elevators not working? Again, new ship issues. (are you sure it was really 90% of them? Hard to believe that figure) The issue with turning part of the buffet into a main dining room is not unique to this ship. And as for ladies having to wait for the bathroom, I'd best not go there. Let's just say that's a common issue at terrestrial restaurants and we'll leave it at that. ;)

I have to disagree a little. From reading just erica's post I only see 1 issue that can be attributed to a new ship, which is the elevators and I'm sure that problem will be rectified. As for overcrowding, I'm a person with school age children and we always sail at peak times and holidays when the ships are at capacity. I have been on RCI ships just a large and larger than the seaside and have never felt crowded. I have also been on the Vista and have felt very crowded. That is a company cramming too many people on a ship for it's design. A money grab. I don't know how common the buffet/dinning room is but I have never experienced it on 3 different cruise lines. I don't really have a comment on the bathroom situation but that is not a new ship problem.

  2. Is Bella the only people who get put in the converted buffet? If so, I think it answers the question of whether it's the same dining experience as the MDR. I tend to believe it's not. If it was, there would be Aurea guests in there also. I don't know if this is the case so I don't wanted to ask to verify. This is new to me. I know someone earlier claimed this is a common practice to convert a Buffet area into a dining room, but I have never heard of this on any ship. Is this just common to MSC? It seems like a bad design.

  3. No, that isn't entirely accurate. What I have seen is that many (not all) passengers who didn't enjoy their cruise are telling everyone else that the ship is terrible, worst cruise ever, everyone was complaining etc., in short, warning people not to go. On the other hand, the positive reviewers have been careful to say that their particular experiences were great, they didn't have the issues some others had, etc. In other words, they're being very specific about their positive feedback. At least that's how I read it.

I'm looking at it a little differently. Most of the negative reviews that I'm reading, people are listing exactly why they had issues and what they found unacceptable. Then there are the positive reviews where some are listing the similar issues (ie. sewer smell) but are not bothered as much by them, which is OK also. But the worst is all of the people who haven't been on the ship yet, but are telling people they are crazy for canceling or agreeing with the list of unacceptable issues. I think issues should be listed here, good or bad, and leave it up to people to decide if they can live with them. I will probably keep my June booking, but I still have some time to make up my mind. This issue is not whether I will have a good time but there are so many other choices out there, is the savings worth the headaches.

  4. We are not huge show type people. However I did play Bingo one day in the Theatre and it felt like all the other ships I've been on. I couldd bring up negatives or dislikes of the Breeze....which was our favorite cruise. But they did not impact our cruise. Its obvious the Theatre setting and seating is important to you...it wasn't to us....so thats why I said in my earlier post I know the product and what to expect. Theatre not important to us. Now if you told me the casino was 30% smaller... I'd pile right on with the complainers...lol

I didn't think the theater mattered that much either, until I sailed on the Vista. Worst theater I have been in. But it's a pretty low bar if we are saying at least the Seaside's theater is better than the Vista. Now, I'm with you on the casino, so I will complain that some genius at MSC decided not to add a craps table in a casino.

  5. I am booked on the Seaside in June. I will probably keep my booking but I'm a little worried. But, I think this idea that all new ships receive this many negative reviews is simply not true. When RCI released the Oasis and Allure they both got rave reviews and this was a totally new concept. Harmony reviews were not as good initially but not as bad as what we're reading on the Seaside. The same with Carnival. The Breeze release was well received. The Vista release was not and this was due to some of the choices Carnival made. The point is that a cruise line can get it right on the initial sailings and when they don't sometimes it's due to the choices that they make. Some things can be fixed. Other things (like overcrowding) can't. It's very easy to just blame the reviewers. Some had a great cruise but I don't weigh those more than the many people who didn't.

I'm still hoping for a great cruise.

  6. We were in the same situation. When we booked there were only 5 person YC deluxe cabins available. And now, YC is all booked for our sailing. There is nowhere to move us. I wouldn't mind the 4 person cabin if there are bunk beds. The policy usually states that they will not move you unless there is a equivalent or upgrade available.

  7. TWO is right. If you check out the 2,700 picture thread here on CC for YC deluxe you'll see the spot in the ceiling for the pull down bed.

I have been looking for that picture also for the 5 person YC deluxe. If you have a link that would be great. We are only 4 booked in the 5-person suite but will be using the pullman.

I find it interesting that video that they released walking through a YC deluxe mock up (the actual room, not a rendering) had bunk beds. but now I'm hearing that none of the YC deluxe rooms have bunk beds. I would like to get the real story.

  8.

Thanks for the link. It gives me a better idea of sofa differences. Unfortunately, this sofa differs from the one in the Aft Suite pics, which looks like a double bed. Hopefully, someone will give a first hand account when she reaches Miami. I assume most people aren't even opening those sofas on the current sailing.

  9. Video of Balcony Cabin 9195 with the pop up Bunk Beds (Finally)

Thank you for the link and all of your info. I have been waiting for the Bunk Beds. I thought I had figured out the sofa beds, but now I'm not so sure. Do you think 9195 has the bunks is due to being a "AA" cabin? Or do all 4 person cabins have the bunks? This looks like the sofa that's in the Aft suites but I didn't think it had Bunk Beds.

  10. Awesome pictures! Does anyone know if there's any of the bathroom of a Aurea aft suite? Any videos out yet?

I'm a bit concerned about how the sofa bed in that picture folds out? Will we be able to access the balcony when the kids are asleep do you think?

I'm wondering if there are any pics yet, Aft suite or YC deluxe, with the bedding made for 4 or 5 (sofas extended). There doesn't look there's a lot of room for the Aft suite sofa. And I can figure out where the extra bed is located in the 5 person YC Deluxe Suite.

  11. perhaps a link to the vid on my google drive???

Thanks for the video. I'm trying to piece together all of the different sofa layouts. It looks like the YC Deluxe suites all have the sofas that convert into bunk beds (for a 4 person cabin). And the balconies and aft suites pics that I've seen so far have sofas that pull out to a double. I prefer the bunk bed layout. This is just my guess, we'll all know in a couple of days.

  12. If someone has the chance to see the stateroom in advance, at least they knew what they are getting. However, it is truly unfortunate for those who booked based upon it being represented as a suite. :loudcry:

I totally agree. It really doesn't matter what the room description says. If I have seen all the pictures of the room, I shouldn't have any complaints. The issue is MSC's approach to their cabin roll out and purposely hiding the pics.

  13. I have done a bit of copy and pasting to see how furniture and fittings will fit into the space of the AFT cabins on a scale plan. I have taken elements from other room layouts and placed them, to scale, as per the deck plans.

A little optimistic with the 4 deck chair and 2 couches.. but.. hey there certainly is enough space for them[emoji6]. PLEASE NOTE THIS IS NOT OFFICIAL!! This is just my vision of what could be..

I'm curious about the bathroom. My confirmation says it has a shower. Does anyone know if it is a tub like in the drawing above or is it a walk in shower? For the few who has seen the rendering, can you share? Personally, I would rather have the walk in shower.

  14. Carnival towels are in the cabin and are allowed off ship at the beach. However, when you board there are clean towels at the entrance to exchange. I'm hoping MSC does the same. I prefer this to the towel cards that Royal Caribbean provides on some of their ships.

  15. Anyone know when MSC will release the June 2018 Seaside sailings? I would like to price out 7 and 14 day YC bookings. FYI, I am also not showing any 14 day sailings at all on the Seaside at this time for any dates.

The June 2018 sailings are already released. I booked a 7 day months ago and I've seen the 14 day listings.

  16. The no-show penalty is to discourage what you're trying to do - book a cabin that MSC wants 5 people in, when there are only 4 in your party. While I sympathise with your situation, I can also see if from MSC's POV.

Also, those cabins were built to accommodate a party of 5. It would hardly be fair that someone needing one of them would be denied by those doing what you're looking to do.

I totally agree. Having said that, sometimes you have to pay for what you want. If it is that important to you, pay the fees and get the room you want. Even though I don't think it's totally fair to block a party of 5. But it's not the end of the world. If they don't get a party of 5 request, they will open it up to 4 anyway.

The other choices would be the 1b1b. I know this sucks for 4 adults (2 couples) that originally booked a 2b2b. But I think it would work with 2 children. The next biggest room I believe is the Whirlpool Aurea Suites at around 300 sq ft.

  17. Thanks for the great pics!

Looking at my confirmations, the AFT suite is about the same as the YC1 suites, 22mq vs 21mq. About a 10 sq ft difference and the bathrooms are the same size. My guess is that the hallway around the curve into the Aft Suite will eat up about 30 sq ft of space that I wouldn't count as livable space. So, you can get a gauge to the size of the room. It will look a little smaller than the Yacht Club deluxe suites.
