  1. Hello everyone! I've been away from these boards for awhile now however booked two cruises out of Charleston on the Sunshine this week.  One a girls trip in February and the other one is for our 25th anniversary in early 2024. I'm really excited and have been reading here too catch up.  The girls trip will be 6 of us and we have side by side balcony cabins. Four of our group have never cruised  before. Are there any non covid changes I need to know and pass along? Thanks!

  2. We are going on the Paradise in April for our 20th anniversary. We are super excited since this is one of the cruises to Cuba. Well that last 6 weeks have been tough. My husband had two cataract surgeries scheduled. The day before the first one he didn't see a curb, due to the cataracts, and hurt his knee. So he went ahead with the first cataract surgery then off to the orthopedic doctor the next day. He tore his meniscus. Both the vision and knee get a bit better but I end up in the ER with a kidney stone and diverticulitis. Then eye #2 is done and all goes well but the knee is still a problem and an MRI is needed. We are now waiting on he results. The good part is I had forgotten I have an AFLAC policy on both of us. What we will get back from that will pay a big chunk of our cruise. Kind of feels like the rainbow 🌈 at the end of the storm.

  3. I have purchased it for my cruise next year. For me it's the cabin being ready when I board that's the biggest draw. My husband uses a cpap and enjoys taking pictures. Being able to put it in the room and not lug it around means he will bring whatever camera stuff he wants. I'm hoping not to need guest services however on my last cruise they knew me by name due to the rep at the credit card company thinking my calling to let them know I was traveling was "suspicious" and putting a stop on the card instead. That priority line would have come in handy.

  4. I don't travel by air often but I know all about the 311 bag rules so my question is about the bag itself. I am decanting my products and bought one of the "TSA approved" zipper top, clear bags. I checked it against a quart size zip bag and they hold the same amount. Has anyone had trouble with these bags at security? I am going to take a ziplock just in case however I like the fact that this is sturdier than the ziplock. I have an 6:30 am flight so I want everything to be smooth.

    Thanks!!

  5. Hello everyone. I'm going to an event in April and just began my search. I'm about to be 45 and plus size. I find it difficult to find things that fit and don't make me look like in trying for 20 or 80. (No disrespect to anyone those ages.) Today I decided to go try on a few things and found this.

It fit perfectly. I had ordered these shoes a few weeks ago since I have a heel spur and can no longer wear high heels.

I'm really happy with these and can't believe I bought the first thing I tried on. I also had a $25 off coupon.

  6. I posted on his page during our cruise to let him know we were having a great time. He gets so many complaints that I wanted to say something good. He responded that it made his day to hear that. Later that day there were chocolate covered strawberries, champagne, and a ship on a stick from him. He also passed on the compliment to the hotel director who gave me a bottle of wine at dinner. I honestly just wanted to make him smile not get stuff.

  7. We actually bring one for each day. At night we change them out. This way if something happens to the camera we don't lose all of our pictures. The equipment is insured and can be replaced but the pictures would be gone forever. I have a credit card sized holder for them that I got on Amazon.

  8. I'm not a swimmer and have a real issue with water in my face. I did the helmet dive with no issues a few years ago and loved it. It was the highlight of our week long trip and we will do it again if we get the chance.

  9. Princess and Holland do cruise tours, Carnival is kind of limited in what they can offer in Alaska. For example, I believe they can only cruise Hubbards Glacier during shoulder season of May and September, while Holland and Princess go there all summer long. As far as I know, Carnival does not offer cruisetours.

The benefit to us when we did our cruisetour on Princess was that we started in Fairbanks and traveled south through Denali and had some fun excursions for 5 days before getting to the port. Then a full 7 day south bound, which gives you more Alaskan coverage than just a 7 day RT. Princess handled all the details and it went off like clockwork.

If it's a once in a lifetime experience (like ours was) then try to get as much exposure to Alaska as you can. If you are planning to go Alaskan several times, then it's a different story.

Thank you. I appreciate you sharing your experience. I have looked online but it's just not the same. This sounds like exactly the type of trip we want to do. Even if we make it back to Alaska this will be a once in a lifetime for Dad so we want to do as much as possible.

  10. Hello everyone. We are looking at doing Alaska for our 20th anniversary in 2019 and I have a few questions. Even though it's an anniversary trip we want to take my Dad since he has always wanted to go and he is awesome.

Does Carnival do any cruisetours? This is really what we would like to do.

Is it best to do ship sponsored excursions in Alaska?

When will the release the 2019 Alaska schedule? We obviously like to book and plan early.

    Any other helpful tips?

    Thanks!
