First of all, a (dry) dock will take care of the adjustments. So not a problem at all to Americanize the ship.

But does it make sense for NCL to leave the Chinese market? even if the ship does not sail at full capacity, I'm pretty sure they make it up in the casino!

I read a post the other day that Indie was drydocking in newport! This made me very excited as I was going to be close to Newport for a short break!

 

We headed in the car, with lots of traffic jams and roadworks. But I didn't mind as I was going to see Indie. We got to the docks in Newport, went up to the barrier, asked the lovely man where independence of the seas was docking. Still very excited...

 

The man looked blank. So we told him it was a big cruise liner. Again he looked blank and said 'we never have cruise liners here!'.... then the penny dropped! We were in Newport Wales... Indie is in the other Newport!

 

Very embarrassed we had to drive through the barrier with the lovely security men giving us a thumbs up and laughing! We just smiled and quickly went past trying not to look too embarrassed.

 

Anyways I know this is a pointless story but I thought I would share how these forums have made me even more excited about royal Caribbean ships.. so much so to embarrass myself and my lovely husband!

She is dry docking in Freeport, Bahamas!

I pick up a lot of these, solo, no supplement last minute deals. But I disagree, there are NOT a lot of them. And the deals in the most part are coming out later. Pure supply and demand. I may pick up this Getaway deal, will consider staying on, if, the following cruise dumps too. :) It's a fun game that can really pay off with flexibility.

Exactly. Flexibility is the key word. Usually it goes from week to week and have seen up to 3 weeks in advance especially during hurricane season when it's slow.

What I have noticed the last couple of years, that there is at least 3-4 well dressed people selling art. So obviously they are selling because when I started cruising in 2007 it used to be 1 to 2.

Her last dry dock was in 2015, so somewhere (shortly) after arriving in Miami, she will head to Freeport I guess. Usually somewhere between Jan-Apr.

Isn't this the same as the Sailaway solo rate? If so, there are numerous upcoming sailings where you are not charged the 200 percent rate.

yes, it's the Sailaway Solo Rate, however some of them they charge like 150% but these 2 I mentioned are just 100%. Btw I only had a llok at these 2 out of Miami.

If you happen to be in the Miami area and want to take a cruise, NCL is not charging double for the Escape and Getaway sailing this coming weekend .Both are 7 days cruises to the Western Caribbean.

If I'm traveling solo, I always use my D+ Bogo for the first 2 nights, and usually the cheaper one the first night;)

The TA for Jewel 2019 was canceled and has not been rescheduled.

In that case they did not update the chart they brought out yesterday!

She is right now on her last cruise before dry dock. Next cruise is on May 15 out of Southampton. Is she getting her dry dock in Freeport or in the UK?

Well like to they say nothing is for eternity. Just came back from.a cruise on the Regal Princess and now Platinum and Elite have unlimited internet(at least on the Regal). Excellent perk I must say. Really enjoyed being connected for the week.

I was last week on the Regal, and used my coffee card I purchased back in November for my Royal Princess cruise. Since it already had some punches in it, the guy wrote the voyage number on the back and told me that I had to use it this cruise. In December I was able to buy gelato with my card on the Royal, not this time though!

You can also get it at Zuikertuin Mall at a place called Sambal here in Curacao. You will have to order the dishes separately though. Excellent food.

Since Carnival is sending both Glory and Valor, and NCL is sending the Getaway for winter 2019, isn't there a chance Jewel might end up in New Orleans as well?
