  1. Posts 10, 12 and 13 here is most recent report.

As most people have drink packages these day's it's not affecting many people, and as CC folks are not a majority of cruisers that means even less people are paying attention.

Question: I am Elite Plus and get free coffees at Al Bacio. Does that mean that I can still get free pastries etc when I get a coffee there?:):)

  2. I would think if you have a butler there would be no problem getting them hemmed.

I once tore my bathing suit at the seam. I asked the butler if he knew anyone who could fix it for me. He said no problem. He came back 1 hour later with it all done and so neatly sewn. I asked the cost and he said nothing that there was no cost. Next, I asked if I could meet the person who sewed the bathing suit as I'd like to say thank you. I was speechless when he said that he did it himself.

There are some terrific butlers on Celebrity.:)

  3. This nickel and diming reminds me of the way airlines have changed.

Airline: You want to fly to X. Okay would you like that direct or with stops? Do you want the class of fare that gives you full points or just half the points? Would like to select a seat or not? Would you like to pay extra for a Premium seat? Would you like a pillow or a blanket? Do you want to eat or not? etc..All these extras get added to your airline ticket fee. Why can't airlines and CRUISE LINES ask for a price that covers all the incidentals??

    :rolleyes::confused::eek::mad:

  4. I have booked under the cafe only once. I would never do it again. I heard everything; not only the chairs being dragged but the rolling of the carts (which was the worst!). They started early in the morning and finished late at night.

If you have a chance to book a suite on another floor,I would. All the best.:)

  5. We have done 6 transatlantic cruises from Rome and Barcelona on a southerly route to Florida. We have found the temperature around 50 degrees F. I have always taken a jacket.

I don't know if we were just lucky but have never encountered rough weather. Crossing the Atlantic. it has been very warm...pool weather:D.

  6. We've been to many of the specialties on Celebrity as well as HAL since 2000 and feel your spot on.

Our first was the Olympic and the food was excellent however there was more to the experience than just the food. Everything from the white glove butterfly service to the roving violinist made it truly an evening to remember. Our last was a few years ago in the Normandie. Over the years we have seen not only the food but all other aspects of the experience go downhill a bit.

If you want to dine in the specialties that is fine and I am sure you are and will be very happy but not my cup of tea any longer, and this has nothing to do with dollars and cents just our personal opinion.

    OMO

Like you we have had wonderful experiences in the earlier speciality restaurants on the M Class ships...Wonderful memories! But we will not be going back to Murano. It is not that kind of experience anymore and I, also, find it too expensive.

  7. If both dw and I are Elite members, are we each entitled to certain benefits (or one per cabin)such as : pressing of 2 garments, 1 standard bag of laundry complementary, 90 minutes internet and 1 piece dry cleaning ? We will be on a 12 night cruise shortly.

You are each entitled to your own benefits. So when you get to your cabin, you will see 2 sheets of discount coupons.:)

  8. I found the coupons I was talking about.

    • Select - free fitness class, another 10% off any spa treatment while in port
    • Elite - free fitness class, 15% off spa in port (also have one for 10%), persian gardens on port day

    Hi,

So does that mean that Elite has 15% off a spa treatment plus, persian garden when in port. I ask because I'm Elite plus and never realized that there was a discount on spa treatments when in port.

  9. I'm in the camp of those that think that fixed dining should not just get to join into select when they feel like it - thereby putting extra wait times for regular select diners who chose that option for the entire cruise. :( If your friends have fixed and you have select but want to eat a time or two together - please go to a specialty restaurant or buffet. If I'm in select there is no way that I'd be asking for someone to make room for me at a table during fixed times.

    I'm with you! Well put!!

  10. There is really something so very special about aft cabins and watching the wake disappear into the distance! I loved your build up pictures to of the sign and the long corridor!

Back to mid ships for next cruise but can't wait for aft cabin Singapore to Abu Dhabi on the Constelation in 2017!

Thanks for the post, really enjoyed it!

There is nothing that quite compares to the aft cabin balconies on the Constellation or any of the other M Class ship. They are much, much bigger. And not such a long walk to the elevator. If there is a Family Cabin open, you should go for that...amazing in cabin size and balcony size.

  11. You are correct, Celebrity charges 3% just for the conversion on top of their rate of exchange, it happened to us at the start of one cruise. We had to go to Customer Service & show proof that we wanted our credit card to do the exchange. It has always been better to have your credit card do the conversion as it is less than Celebrity.

It is a good idea to check with Guest Relations anyway. They often mess it up. We usually check on our 2nd day.

  12. We purchased obc ahead of time for our cruise in this past March and paid a very favourable exchange rate of just over $27 cdn for $25 usd as a previous poster mentioned. Too bad it's now gone up and I didn't act earlier for my upcoming December cruise, which is now getting more and more expensive with the dropping dollar!

The only other thing to watch out for is allowing Celebrity to charge your credit card for onboard expenses in USD vs. CDN. Regardless of what their current rate is, which I believe you can find out by calling them, you will at least save the 2.5% conversion fee the credit cards charge.

If I recall correctly there is a box to check on your form authorizing payment to have them charge it in your credit card's currency.

We've got to take the breaks, no matter how small, where we can!

The only thing that I would check is the exchange rate that Celebrity charges. It can be more favourable to have your credit card to it.
