  1. Do you feel horribly guilty having someone captain the ship while you sleep or clean your toilet ? I don't think they go to an employees cabin and wake them up to deliver food but even if they did, it's the job.

Good one Marc, lol. The person who is delivering your food is on the late/midnight/graveyard shift. He gets to sleep during the day. He/She may even get more $$ for doing an unpopular shift.

And really...does it matter what percentage of the $3.95 service charge is going towards the person who delivered it? Unless you are ordering it every night go ahead and give the employee a few bucks on top of it. It will make their day! (or night)

  2. Hi Guys,

I haven't said in a while, and I searched through some forums but couldn't find the answer.

DH and I are doing my time dining and pre-paid gratuities are automatic. I'm glad, I like it being pre-paid and I can budget and have the flexibility to tip more I desire.

My question is - The gratuities are just for the main dining room, right? We will still have to tip the stateroom attendant?

  3. I'm with you, I don't like to travel on spring break. I Love kids and the energy they bring but want to minimize the odds. We've had to deal with kids pressing every elevator button, throwing ice cream cones in the swimming pool. Dirty diapers floating, hanging out in the adult area and clogging the hot tubs...etc. (To be fair the last three things I mentioned were on Carnival which turned me off cruising for 4 years. Getting ready to give RCCL another try) Another poster pointed out to me though there is a good chance there will be lots of kids on your ship anytime of the year. Lots of parents homeschooling, etc.

  4. Hello fellow Cruise Critters,

FLA resident here and am cruising on the OOTS on May 3rd. I have a question for the more seasoned "cruisers' here.

Did you notice an overwhelming amount of children on your cruise in April/May? Before I get flamed, I want to say first, I love kids and cruised as a child with my parents too. But I've been on cruises with lots of kids and have had to deal with stuff because they aren't supervised. Kids throwing ice cream cones in the pool, dirty diapers floating, sneaking into the adult areas, pressing every elevator button, etc.

I know for Florida schools Spring Break is over now and Summer vacation starts in June. I booked our cruise on May 3rd to hopefully find that sweet spot of less children. Of course that makes an assumption that most passengers are Florida residents which is not necessarily so.

So..excuse the long post. What I want to know is do you find that on RCCI cruises there are less children in April/May?

    Thanks in advance

  5. Hi Everyone, I'm sailing on the RC Allure of the Seas on May. Looking forward to it. My last RC cruise was several years ago. Has anyone been to the casino on the allure? I noticed in a review it was mentioned they removed all table games because they couldn't afford dealers? Please say it isn't so. I don't want to be relegated to slots. Can anyone confirm for me if that is true? I really enjoy three card poker and actually got a straight flush on my last RC cruise.

    Thanks Much!

  6. This was the very first cruise I took with my parents in 1982 when I was 12. I can't remember if it was out of Canaveral or Miami but one of the ports was Freeport, Bahamas. I'm glad I just found this website it brought back really fond memories. I think I was the only child/young teen on board. I remember the ship seemed huge to me at the time. The cabins were so tiny. They movie they had one night was "On Golden Pond" I remember winning some $$ at Bingo. Now I'm getting ready to take a cruise on RCCL Freedom of the Seas, wow has cruising really changed! Thanks for posting this for helping me to remember good memories as my parents are both deceased now.

    Warmest Regards,
