Congratulations on the birth of your daughter! 6 weeks, that's a tough period. Wish I could lend you some sleep...
Try posting your question on this board too: http://boards.cruisecritic.com/forumdisplay.php?f=49 There's a lot of knowledgeable cruisers with children over there who may be better suited to give you advice compared to the RCL board.
You are correct in that vacationing with children is a very, very, very different experience than vacationing with your spouse alone. However, that's not to say you shouldn't vacation with your daughter. It's just that you'll still be 'working'. Your daughter will have all the same needs as she does at home (naps, fed, entertained, etc.) so you won't be able to truly relax and let everything go.

No.
As per Royal Caribbean's blog this Answer from Adam Goldstein on Oct 3, 2013:
Currently the Coca-Cola Freestyle machines are available on Majesty of the Seas, Explorer of the Seas, Freedom of the Seas, Oasis of the Seas, Allure of the Seas, and Enchantment of the Seas.

update:
25% credit for #1 and #2, full refund for #3 and $200 on-board credit on a future sailing on any cruise line.
After contacting the VP things changed dramatically. Funny how that works.
I am waiting until I have documentation of the final offer before I exhale. LOL
Thank you for the update. Now THAT compensation is more like it. You are very wise to get it in writing before you exhale!
I've been very impressed with your even-keeled approach & am happy things worked out in the end (sort of...)
Let's hope your next cruise goes more smoothly!

curious minds want to know...did RCL connect with you today? Has there been any resolution?

Beautiful pictures, on the other side of the straw market, there is another beach, Columbus Cove, which is not rocky with lots of shade and loungers.. like a regular carribbean beach.. check it out next time..
Agreed. GORGEOUS photos. And next time you're in Labadee, head to Columbus Cove. It's a great beach for families.

Head over the East Coast Departures board, there is a thread there about Cape Liberty that has a wealth of information. There are also several frequent posters on that board who can answer your questions in detail.

Yoo HOOOO! Karajeboo!! Where are you?!!!! Please come back! Pretty please????
I stumbled across your review/thread and spent the last several hours reveling. Come to find: You're. Not. Finished.
Please? Come back? And finish your review? I'm LOVING IT!

I just finished 'cruising' with Radio and am thrilled to see I can do a "B2B" with you! Just love living vicariously through the live threads!!!!

You mean like, sharing space with the two teens playing chase in the hall. When they rounded the corner and knocked me to the ground. Maby the kid playing hide and seak under my table in the dinning room. Maby the kid spitting off a higher deck onto people on a lower deck. How about the kid throwing frinch fries at people, and I could come up with a few more. Gee, I don't know why I would be grumpy, you know kids will be kids.
In my experience, you describe the exception not the rule. The vast majority of kids are not obnoxious as in your examples. Perhaps these are the ones that stand out in your memory.
When I do see a teen acting in the way you've described and clearly without adult supervision, I immediately speak up and tell him/her to cut it out, that's unacceptable (I can't help myself) and that usually works (at least for the moment.) Perhaps it's the mother in me. I have reported unacceptable teen behavior to RCL staff, security and it's been taken seriously. Next time you come across such a situation, I encourage you to report the offending teens immediately and be proactive instead of stewing;).
For context, I cruise only during school breaks when the ships are overrun with children.

Yes!!!! But let me explain...an adults only cruise would be fabulous so those adults who are constantly complaining about sharing space with kids have a venue to enjoy (then they can keep their grumpiness away from families with kids!) This adults only cruise would have to be during a time when schools are in session. Sept, Oct, Nov should work. Have fun! Happy Cruising!

Your logic makes sense regarding numerous emails, hopefully the people that send more than one refer to the first email that was unanswered.
As for the 2-3 weeks to reply, I think that is far too long to wait for a reply. IMO you should have to wait no more than 48 hours for a reply, if it is a difficult query then there should be at least a reply saying that you are working on it and can expect to have an answer by .....
I agree. If a company takes 2-3 weeks to reply without so much as a auto reply email and work order #, that company isn't going to have my business...

Hello everyone... I was wondering about the kid's slide. Is there an age limit?
I asked my 9 year old this (I couldn't remember) and she tells me there is a height minimum but no age/height maximum. I rode the slide with my 5 year old DD on my lap because she was too short to go alone.
I think the slide is somewhat self-limiting regarding age. It's a small slide that doesn't go fast. Not sure how much fun it would be for a teen.

Do they still offer Seattle's Best in the Promenade for no charge?
They still offer free self-serve coffee in Cafe Promenade on the wall opposite Starbucks. It's not Seattle's Best (I'm blanking on the brand, someone will chime in). Seattle's Best was the up-sell coffee shop that was replaced by Starbucks.

I booked last night and have 699 days till my next cruise !
-
Yes, Starbucks replaced Seattle's Best in Cafe Promenade.

I had read on another thread that there are flavored waters to drink in the Windjammer. Is this true on the Explorer or is it just on the Oasis class? Also, are they sweet or diet and are they just still or sparkling? Thanks.
They are available on the Explorer. The flavored waters are diet and not fizzy.

I'm Clastrophobic and try to avoid taking elevators at all costs... So my question is, when getting on and offf the ship, do you hav to use an elevator?
Thanks in advance!
You don't HAVE to take the elevator. The stairs go all the way down.

We will be on the explorer in 3 weeks!!! Yay! :D. Anyway, my question is does the explorer offer water aerobics? I was reading a review of the Liberty and I noticed on the compass that the Liberty has water aerobics. my MIL will be with us on this trip and she would be very happy if they have water aerobics on the explorer.
Thanks,
Loralie
I don't recall seeing water aerobics in the compass. It's possible I missed it.
Your picture of Explorer in Labadee is beautiful. I hope you don't mind but I saved it & now it's my phone's wallpaper. Counting down to my 1st cruise on her. Thanks! Congrats to you on your first cruise...I predict you're going to fall in love ;)
OMG!!:) I really hope this captain is NOT on vacation when we sail the Explorer in June. Nice, nice, nice... Oh yeah, the ship pic is great too!Captain Henrik is certainly easy on the eyes :D

I'm excited that I've finally figured out how to post pictures and to celebrate this new skill, wanted to share my favorite picture of the Explorer in Labadee last month.

February 17th was 6:00 for the main seating.

Wow! Thanks for the review and photos. We are leaving Friday (I am so excited!) and I was wondering how warm it was your first full day sailing? You mentioned the kids went swimming - was it really warm enough to use the outdoor pools? That would be great. We are looking forward to ice skating as well. We are 2 families with 4 kids - 2 DD 13, 1 DD 15 and 1 DD 7.

So far, the weather forecast in NJ for Friday is ~50 degrees. Now that's my kind of February!!!

Eagerly awaiting more ;)
Wine box !
in Royal Caribbean International
Posted
Is boxed wine allowed if it is factory sealed, and not greater than 1500 ml per stateroom? Not looking to smuggle, I'm curious if this is 'by the book.' IMHO, boxed wine would be easier to travel with than glass bottles.
