Thanks for the review! Sailing 11/15 on the Sensation
-
What kind of shows do they have? Do they have the Love and Marriage show?
-
We have sailed the Sensation many times. Each was a great cruise.
We hope to sail on her once more before she relocates to Miami.
Maybe we were lucky because they always had a good band playing live music on each cruise. Also a single or duo playing in the atrium. Both the three and four day cruises have a cruise elegant night in which they serve prime rib and lobster.
Thank you
-
Thanks for the review. Did they have an elegant night during your cruise? If so, can you tell me if they offered prime rib? Thank you
-
Originally they were scheduled for wednesday night after Great Stirrup Cay at 08:30pm I think. Great Stirrup Cay was canceled on our trip, therefore we docked wednesday night in Nassau already. In the end the fireworks were friday night after the first day on sea on the way back to NYC.
Thank you!

Great pics! I leave this Sunday!!!
Can you tell me which night the fireworks were?
Thanks so much!

I'm bringing my dress on the plane also. I emailed JetBlue and they said my only choice was to check it in. Southwest told me I could put it on top of peoples things in the overhead bin, but there was no guarantee it wouldn't get wrinkled. They said my other option was to buy it a seat. They'll do anything for money! But southwest flights are semi-cheap so I decided to buy the extra seat to be safe.
Only good thing is I can bring an extra 2 free bags since the dress counts as 1 ticket!
Sorry you had to buy the seat but sounds like a good plan too! My dress was more of a cocktail dress so I made out ok with a garment bag and making sure it was on top of bags in the overhead bin. All worked out fine and I didn't see any wrinkles on my day :D
Best of luck to you!

Thank you!!!! :)

Thank you so much! I hope it doesn't rain, at least not on the way back. I need to stop stressing. lol. You can't stop Mother Nature :)

Hope you have a wonderful day & not too humid ;)
Lyn - thank you again so much. Were they open air trolleys? Like windy as it is moving????
-
Ok reporting back
We were there Sat no taxis at the dock only the trolleys into town...drop off at Mallory square
Not sure if you could request to get off outside the base gates no one did on our trolley
Even the Navy guys walked out but no civilians allowed to walk in/out
So I guess you are stuck with the trolley out & grab a taxi from Mallory square
It was stinking hot Sat & the boat races were on so lots of people & traffic
Congratulations on the upcoming wedding
Lyn
Thank you, thank you for the great info!!!!! The wedding has been moved to 3pm now so it gives me some extra time and less stress!!!! :D

wow Terri-- getting married in Key West how exciting..
congrats.
Thank you :D
-
Thank you for your help :)
-
Oh, ok. That's about a 4.5 block walk from the trolly drop off. Definitely doable but if it's humid, I can understand why a bride would rather ride than walk. Good luck! :)
Yes and I am a slowwwwww walker and I will sweat like a pig too! lol!
Thank you again to everyone for all your help :)

Hi,
I'm getting married during our cruise in Key West. I looked for a salon on land as I was told the ship salon was closed in port. Now I'm told new policy, they are open. I have never used a ships salon services and kind of unsure as to what to do. We are getting married on the ship so it would be great to stay on the ship and get ready but on the other hand, I already made my appt at the hair salon in Key West and put down a $50 non-refundable deposit. I also feel the land salon might have more experience with wedding hair and make up.
Thoughts or advice? Thanks!!!!

thank you for the info!
It is 513 Fleming Street. I wouldn't mind walking it if it wasn't super hot and humid. Not sure how bad it will be in 3 weeks. We were there last year in mid-Oct and it was so very hot, I remember sweating very much. So I will be going to the salon already showered for the wedding, don't want to be a stinky bride! lol
-
If I do take whatever it is that comes to get us at the ship - trolley or whatever - where does that drop us off at?
Thank you all so much for this info!!! I would have been in for a shock if I just thought we docked where we did last year!!!
-
Ohhhh, so I guess we are not in the same dock that we were last year. Crappers. Last year we docked where the statues were - can't think of the name of the museum. lol.
This info is really helpful!!! Thank you so much! Now I am kind of worried though since I have no clue about timing and the trolley
-
You'll be one of 3 ships in port that day and yes, you'll be on the Outer Mole pier...the least desirable of piers. Unfortunately, you'll have to board a trolley/conch train to get from the pier to downtown. From there, you can get a taxi. Hopefully this process doesn't eat up too much of your time. Congrats on your wedding! :)
So a taxi will not come to that pier?
Thank you for the congratulations :)

Thank you! :)

I am getting married in Key West and am going to a salon to get hair done prior to the wedding. We are coming in on NCL. Do they normally have a few taxis waiting at the pier or should I call beforehand? Trying to save time.
Thanks!!

OK, I am back. We used Key West Hair and Make-up. The number is 305-731-3753. The address is 402 Appelrouth Lane (just off Duval), Suite 2B.
It is not a posh location, so if that is what you prefer, you may want to check out other suggestions above.
This place airbrushes the make-up and it stays on very well in spite of Key West's heat and humidity. My skin is very sensitive and frankly I worried about having this done, but it was so light, I barely felt it and, yes, it did stay on the entire afternoon and evening.
Also, I have thin, fine, straight hair. Somehow the hairdresser made my hair look full and elegant. I was amazed and it stayed nice for the entire event too.
One disadvantage is that the studio has no parking, so you have to be dropped off and picked up. That might be inconvenient for you. It is also a second floor walk-up, so if you have someone in your party who is challenged by stairs, they might not be able to negotiate the stairs.
As an aside, I got lost and ended up at Headlines. They seemed very nice in there and everyone seemed to know everyone there, so perhaps many local regulars use it. I wouldn't hesitate to go there based on the warm and happy atmosphere. Also, there would be no parking problem or stairs challenge there.
If you would like to check the place we used at least for comparisons, click on:

Have a wonderful Key West weddding.
Great! Thanks for the info! It is only me and we are sailing in on a cruise ship so I have no car to park. lol. Just figure I would taxi from and too as I do not care to sweat like a pig! Not sure how it will be in November but I am sure it will be hot enough! I am not posh either and would like something more affordable than I have been seeing! Thanks again!

Wow! A few months ago, we found out they had a bus from Philly to NYC so we booked though NCL and paid NCL. Our TA contacted us about 2 weeks ago and told us now they no longer provide the bus service. I guess that is a good thing!

Great! Thank you!
