  1. These shows actually show on the channels in the room on the ships. I've never seen them outside of being on a cruise.
  2. The little convenience stores all around the French Quarter, including the one right across the street from the port sales all the mixers in cans you can think of. There is also a Wal Mart less than 5 minutes from the port but if you are staying downtown, there is a grocery store called Rouses that will have what you need and a great wine selection. It's on Baroone St. About 5 minutes from the port by the Superdome. I think here is still a smaller one within the Quarter but the bigger one is better.
  3. The Glory is a lovely ship and a great ship to get your feet wet with Carnival. I don't agree with thise saying to try a newer ship first. Plus many other factors may have played into why you chose this cruise. Anyway, Carnival is the Fun ships and it lives up to that. Just go in with an open mind and an empty belly and don't try to compare it too much. Each brand is different for a reason. Please don't let anyone scare you mentioning rust and upkeep and etc. It's really not that important to the time you are spending with your family. Don't miss the Playlist productions and also the movie under the stars is my favorite activity on a ship. Bring a blanket!
  4. There actually was one onboard the ships. I'm assuming covid changed that but I've met them on past cruises.
  5. Yeah, no. Unless official word comes from Carnival and they remove it from the website, then I'll believe it. Otherwise there are no resources to back that up. It's hearsay.
  6. I would not really trust that. I've never heard of the "Carnival Independent Advisor Team". Anything asked on Carnival's Facebook usually shows answered by Carnival directly.
  7. As someone who actually worked check in, I can say that yes it is more efficient to have the keys by the rooms. Doesn't matter if I get the keys while you are filing out paper work, etc. If something is wrong, the keys aren't where they are supposed to be, the wrong keys or even no keys at all, it takes time to fix. All of that is eliminated with the keys at the door. They have time to check to make sure each keys has the right status, etc. I have ran into every situation you can think of to hold up check in. The chain of command on the keys is exactly the same on board on done at check in. Actually less with them being delivered to the doors. They are printed the night before, by the guest service staff. Given to the stewards supervisor, already sorted and ready for the next day. Then just added to mail boxes. The old process started the same then the box is handed to someone allowed to go on shore and then given to the shore side team for which 40 agents now have access to. They were not sorted by room type or loyalty ADA. Only by name. I worked for RC when they had a separate checking for suites and Ada guests. We had to walk across the enter room to get the keys for each passenger. So you saved standing in the long main line but took and extra 5 minutes of waiting for they keys. Doesn't matter to me either way but I wanted to chime in from another perspective.
  8. You won't find any free "hot" food with the breakfast room service. I believe they still have a few pay options that would be like sandwiches mostly. But your basic toast, cereals, etc are free at breakfast.
  9. Thank you all for your answers! I'm excited to see the possibility of movies in the lounge. We will go with just keeping the meds out, just wanted to see what others do in these cases.
  10. Hi! Most yall know me but if you don't. I'm not a newbie. As you can see in my signature, I've sailed most of the Fantasy class ships, just not in a while. So I've some random questions that I haven't been able to find an answer to. Sailing in a couple weeks on a 4 day on the Ecstasy. 1. So I know the Fantasy class does not have a big screen for Dive in movies, which is my favorite activity. I heard rumblings that they are sometimes shown in a lounge or the main theater. Anyone recently had experience with this? 2. Both my mom and I take a medicine that should be refrigerated. It can stay out up to 7 days it's not a huge deal but I know Fantasy class doesn't have fridges. If you have had meds that needed to be refrigerated, what is your experience with this? Like I said not a big deal since is only a 4 day cruise and the meds can be out but wondering if Carnival provided one for this issue or what did you do to keep your meds cold?
  11. Yes it can be order via Room Service or carry one on.
  12. I think it is only the first night on certain ships. Yes you get it the free bottle solo. You can take it with you or transfer it to the dining room. They label it. We usually take it with us.
  13. The ones (walgreens/cvs) downtown don't do testing since they don't have the capacity to do so. There are a couple of Urgent cares in the downtown area as well as testing at UMC Hospital just on the otherside of Canal street. UMC may only have PCR however since that's all I've ever gotten there but results less than 24 hours. The closest CVS or Walgreens to get tested are both on S. Claiborne Avenue in uptown New Orleans. 10 minute Uber from downtown. I get tested for cruises at the CVS, not issues, no cost to me(insurance) and results in less than an hour. Here is probably your best bet and they start appointments 2 weeks out. Things may be a little different when you are going because the testing sites change their rules often.
  14. The terminals can switch. We were on the Drwam in April and parked at the garage. We got on at Terminal 2 but docked back at terminal 1. I was do the lot TBH because crossing the street was not fun. It had been a long time since we had cruised out of Galveston and did not remember the parking being like that before. Their are shuttles for the ground lots if you are at a farther lot than you left out of.
  15. Did I say that? I said it might not be as big of a problem on the other lines as it was for Carnival. There are entire threads on here and on John's Facebook discussing bacon for before covid and now. It's a long drawn out tiring subject.
  16. The limited days of bacon was in place BEFORE covid and it had to do with food waste. People were taking plates and plates full and eating two pieces and then it all had to be thrown away. NOW we have the added cost of how expensive it is. Carnival is 100% justified for greedy people who don't eat what they take. Other cruiselines probably just don't have the problem of people taking and wasting as much food.
