We got back from Romantic Danube river cruise last week, and the food was pretty much as Clay and others describe above.  Unfortunately, due to low river levels we spent a lot of time on buses rather than cruising, also had to switch boats halfway through the week, and would advise anyone considering a river cruise to think about the time of year and likelihood of drought after hot summers!  If we were to do it again (highly unlikely, as we prefer the space on Viking Oceans) we would go before July.

The food was OK, but not as varied as on the ocean ships, and not available outside the set meal times, apart from room service of course.

I totally agree. We did Romantic Danube and let me just say I was not impressed. It was on my bucket list, but will not do another. I will just stick to ocean cruising.

We also had a major medical emergency while traveling in Asia.  Medical expenses were incurred on the ship and in Japan (including several inches of expense documentation from a Japanese hospital.....all in Japanese (Kanji and Hiragana).  Just translating all those pages was a major task and Geoblue accepted the documentations in a foreign language (many insurers require the claimant to get stuff translated).  GeoBlu reimbursed us for nearly all our medical expenses and did it within 3 weeks :).  GeoBlu also paid for medical evacuation and was in regular communication with both myself and the ship's physician to work out all the details.

    Hank,

I just want to thank you for all your helpful posts over the years. There has been a wealth of info on cruise critic much of which I have been able to use successfully.

Each Princess ship has a 2 letter designation.

If it does not make sense then it is being used for another ship.

That probably won't make sense either as you can see here........

    CP=Sea Princess

Thanks. We usually sail Royal or Celebrity and was curious why it wasn't CP. Thought it was the darn auto correct.

  4. Husband and I were just talking about lobster rolls. We will be on our Lobster cruise Oct 7 on Adventure. I also had never heard of a hot lobster roll, but had one of each at a food truck a couple weeks ago. Naturally this was consumed as a experiment before we hit Maine. We were told exactly what the previous poster said. Maine lobster roll was cold with just mayo and the Conneticut one was hot with butter. Both were very good.

Also would advise a stop at Gilbert's near the port in Portland. Super clam and seafood chowder.

I loved the Diamond and up/suites event in the VCL on Majesty!  😍

Bartender/waiter service was great, better quality munchies (even sushi) and great 360 views from that pretty lounge.  Just had to show your sea pass card to the "guard dogs" at the entrances.  Worked well for us!  🙂

On Majesty six weeks ago and enjoyed Viking area. No one was checking sea pass cards at all.

Glad you enjoyed it and congrats to the grad!  We are Diamond Plus on Royal but returning to Carnival for a 13 night Panama Canal cruise in late September.  Luckily, we got a great deal that more than makes up for the free Diamond drinks.

Isn't that the truth. We just became Diamond Plus and it is difficult to even look at other lines after that. But we are also looking at a Holland America cruise. The ports are just more interesting than Royal currently has available.

  7. Thanks so much for the info. I had absolutely no idea shows were on that long. They were all visibly high tech but not worth spending time to see again.  Guess I will continue to enjoy the smaller ships while they are still available. They might not be as professional but at least there is variety. Will take a good comedian or performer anyday.

Nice PC statement.  😉  I believe it was the LA who was overseeing a lot of things on our cruises with MJ.

You are correct. My mistake calling him concierge. Since he was supposedly the one in charge that was the label I attached.

We have many times enjoyed Rosario strings on Grandeur. Found out there are different people who are still under that name

We are new D+ members.  Our first D+ sailing will be on the Adventure of the Seas Snowbird Migration Cruise in October.  We have been told that we should call RCI to request our D+ gift.  I do see that benefit listed on the "Benefits" page of the RCI site, but the gifts are not listed.  I do plan to call soon, but would like to know what those gifts are so that DH and I can decide what we would like.  Has anyone recently requested a gift and can tell me what the choices are?

Also, what can we expect onboard new as D+ members? Since we haven't sailed a Voyager Class ship in a number of years can we expect discounts to venues such as Johnny Rockets? What other perks we can expect over the ones we have received in the past as D members?

    Thank you in advance!

Hi Just started reading this thread because we just became Diamond Plus on Majesty last week. I enjoyed Diamond but also excited about all the fun we have had becoming plus. The Snowbird cruise on Adventure will be our first cruise at the new status.

Gotta love those 90 sqft cabins

I was quite surprised about the size of cabin on Majesty. You would have thought I would have known better, but no-o-o. They had our beds together with no walking area on my side. Had to take a "flying leap" to get into bed. As if this wasn't bad enough I just figured that it was "only" 5 days. Well with 2 days left I asked Antonio to pull the beds apart. Gave him a hug and a well deserved tip.😁

The Majesty is now doing 4 and 5 night Caribbean itineraries this August.  I noticed this because we're on a Navigator cruise in August, and we were originally pleased that, on our Cococay day, we were the only ship scheduled to be there. Now I see that the Majesty is there too on the same day!!  Disappointing, as the Cococay reviews that I have read seem to suggest that the "perfectness" of the day is very effected by whether or not you're the only ship there.

We were on Majesty last week at Coco Day with Navigator. No problem at all with overcrowding.

  12. We bought Canadian currency for our now cancelled June 10 Cuban cruise. Luckily only got 500 and will be able to use it on our Snowbird cruise out of Quebec.
