I donʻt know either, but we are booked on the Ushuaia to Cape Town Le Lyrial cruise. Would love to know more about it!
Hi sebby07,
I have found the TripAdvisor Antarctica Forum and TripAdvisor Antarctica FAQ to be more active and an excellent source of information on Ponant Cruise Lines and pre-trip planning.

Hello Suncityga, We are going on a similar Ponant sailing aboard the Le Soleal in late January 2018, so will post of our experience here when we return. Your countries and continents in your signature could have been ours, so we may be of similar minds.
Happy Travels, Terry!
Hi Terry, thank you and we look forward to learning from your experiences on LeSoleal in 2018.
Agree about possibly similar minds, we do have a lot of previous cruise/trip matches... Baltic, Greek Islands/Turkey, Rhine Christmas Markets, Alaska, Australia/New Zealand, Tahiti/Polynesia and land trips!
Happy Travels to you!

Hello everyone,
It looks like Ponant Cruise Lines does not have a regular CC 'cruise line roll call'. Does anyone know how to start a roll call in this situation?
We have read the CC Antarctica postings and have learned a lot of great info. If you have any additional info to share about Ponant, L'Austral or a similar repositioning cruise (Ushuaia to Montevideo), we would appreciate it.
Thank you,
Lori and Raul :)

As to drinking on the plane, it's totally against the rules to consume your own alcohol. I personally don't relish the idea of being caught doing something against the rules because consequences of going against the flight attendants and pilot can really ruin a vacation.
As a flight attendant, I thank you who don't consume their own alcohol on the plane. Yes, I do monitor and enforce the rules. So, Jen and Randy, when is your flight out of Omaha?

Just off Rhapsody this past Friday and there was no Global Entry.
-
It has a Viking Crown Lounge on Deck 11 at the front with great views.

At the end of May 2016 we were on an 11 day sailing on Rhapsody from Venice which included a stop in Kusadasi (Ephesus), Turkey. No passports were collected.

Following... same ship and cruise in 2017!
Thanks for the review!!! :)

Fantastic adventure and amazing photography!!!
Best review I have read in many years!!!
THANK YOU!!! :)

In NOV 2016 the Rhapsody will be visiting the dry dock in Cadiz, Spain for a couple of weeks. So in APR 2017 she'll be in ship shape (no pun intended). So far no details released by RCI. If there is a Captain's Corner on our cruise, I'll try to ask.
Fantastic review!!! Thank you for your time and effort in sharing with all of us. :)
We are also interested in any details concerning the dry dock in Cadiz... we are booked on Rhapsody's Transatlantic crossing immediately after the dry dock. One of the things we have heard is that the dry dock might be just a 'routine 5 year' check since Rhapsody was in dry dock a couple of years ago.

We sure are - God willing :D:D:D Can't wait to cruise with you two again - I check your CC posts from time to time to try to track your schedule - guess that makes me a bit of a stalker! Your land tour's coming up, right?
Hi Mindy and John,
We are looking forward to seeing you on the SYD to SEA TP in April 2017[emoji41][emoji41][emoji41]... just made the booking official. We also booked the westbound TA in Nov 2017 on Brilliance... we considered the Jewel westbound TA (with a much better price), but finally settled for a nice aft cabin on Brilliance.
We leave on our Eastern Europe Land Trip in about 2 weeks, then Rhapsody eastern Med round trip from Venice in May and the Rhapsody westbound TA in November.
Take care and we really look forward to seeing you and John again!!!! We miss cruising with you guys!!!

The best deal so far is Jewel EB TA - practically giving it away. We're already booked TP at that time. Unfortunately at triple the price
Hi Mindy and John,
Are you booked on the 24 night SYD to SEA on Explorer in April 2017?
We have a tentative booking on it.

Last October, while on the westbound Allure TA, we booked the westbound Rhapsody TA out of Malaga on Nov 19 2016 and noticed a Rhapsody schedule gap just prior to the TA. I asked the C&A Loyalty Ambassador on Allure to check with RCI's Home Office to find out the reason for the gap.
Her reply from corporate was 'dry docking for Rhapsody has been approved for Oct/Nov 2016 prior to the westbound TA'. The dry docking will be done in Cadiz, Spain ending on Nov 17th and then sailing empty on the 18th to Malaga to pick up passengers for the westbound TA on Nov 19th. No information was provided concerning 'the enhancements'.

exactly ! Unfortunately, some folks have a stronger sense of entitlement than others ... :)
Some folks do have a stronger sense of entitlement.
Same ship and cruise... Very long line of guests with reservations to see the show at the Amber Theater waiting for the doors to open. We were second in line and a group of guests with gold cards (not in line) approached one of the closed theater doors and pulled it open... crew members inside tried to stop them, but the lead guest did not stop. She said... "our gold cards open all doors on this ship".
With the theater doors now open, the long line of waiting guests began moving forward and the crew was not ready to check off or count the guests coming into the theater. The end result was that many guests with reservations were not able to find seats for the show.

I know the originally scheduled Transatlantic for Rhapsody in fall 2016 was cancelled, but it has been quite some time and there is still a huge gap in her schedule from October 27th to December 10th. Does anyone have any indication what she will be doing during that time?
We just returned on the Allure westbound TA and we are booked on the Rhapsody TA out of Malaga on Nov 19 2016... I spoke with C&A Loyalty on Allure and was told 'dry docking for Rhapsody has been approved for Oct/Nov 2016 prior to the westbound TA'. The dry docking will be done in Cadiz, Spain ending on Nov 17th and then sailing empty on the 18th to Malaga to pick up passengers for the westbound TA on Nov 19th.

Do you know what Rhapsody of the Seas is doing the early part of November 2016?
The RCI schedule shows a 7 nights Western Med on Oct 27 2016 ending in Barcelona. The next cruise on the schedule is a westbound TA from Malaga starting on November 19 2016. There is a two week gap in the RCI schedule.
Is it a ship refurbishment or is it a charter... or is it something else?
Thanks

Looking forward to the report from the Q % A from the Solstice
Very informative Q & A by the ship's Executive Committee... they showed a video of the rescue preparations, the actual rescue and the return to the ship. Captain Taramas then gave a general report on how the events unfolded and the preparations needed prior to arriving at Malden Island. An early estimate on the fuel cost due to the diversion of the ship is about $170,000 USD. At the end of the meeting, the two rescued sailors came out and thanked everyone.
In my opinion, the crew not only did a fantastic job in in planning and executing the rescue, but also did a great job in communicating with everyone on board as the events unfolded. Kudos to Celebrity!!!!

The two America sailors rescued by Solstice were stranded in Malden Island..
Suggest doing an Internet search on Malden Island.. Very interesting historical information.... including being one of the Pacific Islands where the British did their initial Hydrogen Bomb testing in 1957.

Please check link to US Coast Guard press release on the rescue.
The captain and officers involved in the rescue will have a Q & A with the passengers tomorrow at 11:30 AM to provide additional details.
Solstice will arrive at our next port of call (Lahaina) only 2 hours behind schedule.

We board the Solstice in Sydney on April 3rd for 29 days. So glad that you enjoyed the ship and thank you for the excellent review!

Thanks for the posting... it's important planning information!!!
It appears the enforcing of the policy of not to 'allow any passengers off once they have boarded their cruise ship at embarkation' started soon after the siege incident in the Sydney CBD last December.
I have only seen this info on CC... we are boarding Solstice at the Sydney OPT in early April and have NOT seen any information on the subject from Celebrity.
Link to the thread from December 22nd.
