  1. The Australian government doesn't actually charge a fee for their ETA but does require you to make the application through an official service provider, one of which likely pays a fee to be part of and linked to on the Australian government ETA web site. There are many other official providers for this application including travel agency, airlines, travel clubs and online sites that one can get this service from. Some will even do it for free as part of their service. We've always have used the site below to get our visitor/tourist ETA with quick, within 12 hours notification and reliable service at the low cost of $9.95USD or 5.95GBP. You pay with a credit card so that also provides protection that doing this gives and I did check easy ETA out before using them for the first time.;)

Very well stated!!! We have also used EasyETA in the past without any issues.

  2. Unfortunately it would be illegal to do this on many Hawaiian itineraries because of the PVSA. Unless the cruise ends in a non US port (i.e. Vancouver or Mexico) OR calls upon a distant foreign port (i.e. South America or Asia) you are out of luck. If you post your itinerary people could advise whether or not you stand a chance of Celebrity approving this.

We are doing a B2B... 1st cruise is Sydney to Honolulu and the 2nd cruise is Honolulu to Vancouver (29 days).

During the 2nd cruise we stop in Kona first and in Hilo the next day. The thinking is to pick up rental car in Kona and tour the Big Island ending in Hilo the next afternoon to re board the ship. This option gives us lots more time to see the whole island at a better pace and also to see the lava flows at night.

If not allowed by Celebrity, we would then tour the north part of the Big Island from Kona and the south part from Hilo the next day.

Just part of the planning process... we are waiting for Celebrity's reply.

Thank you for all your replies!!! :)

  3. Are you on the cruise that is from Australia or the one that is going to Vancouver. In either case the PVSA doesn't affect you. April in Kona is the start of the storm season. If Kona is before Hilo you might be OK. if after then there might be a problem.

Personally I would tour the island Kona and do Hilo separately .

  4. We have just done this for our up coming 18 day solistice transpacific cruise. We contact our travel agent with the details of the dates we depart and rejoin the ship our travel agent then contacted Celebrity. Celebrity approved this request with our travel agent whom then provided us a letter from celebrity's emergency travel team "Predown line Request" section.

Thank you... we are glad you received Celebrity's approval in writing for your overnight stay.

We are not familiar with the 'celebrity's emergency travel team "Predown line Request" section'.

We are contacting our travel agent to request their assistance with a similar approach to Celebrity.

  5. Looking at the possibility of staying DIY overnight away from the ship between to nearby ports of call. We have stayed overnight away from the ship while the ship also stayed in port overnight without any problems in the past.

In this instance, the two ports of call (Kona and Hilo) are less than 100 miles apart and staying overnight would allows us additional time in the Big Island of Hawaii.

If you are comfortable with doing sightseeing by yourself and have stayed overnight away from the ship between two nearby ports,... we would appreciate knowing how you set it up with Celebrity and any other thoughts or suggestions you may have.

    Thanks, :)

  6. Has anyone stayed overnight on the Big Island while on a Celebrity Cruise?

Celebrity Solstice arrives in Kona on 24 April and in Hilo 25 April... two separate ports of call.

The plan would be to disembark (tender) in Kona in the morning of the 24th and re-board (docked) in Hilo the afternoon of the 25th.

Interested in knowing how you set it up with Celebrity and what did you do with your time on the Big Island.

    Thanks, :)

  7. I have read some more reviews but most of them are older from 2012.

Would appreciate some newer reviews regarding this cabin category (A1). Thanks

We had Cabin 1108 on Millie for 14 day Transpacific (Tokyo to Vancouver) in May 2014 and loved our cabin. We found Deck 11 very quiet and with great access to the back of the ship. We would have no hesitation is selecting a Deck 11 AQ cabin on Millie again.

  8. Belize - we did the Altun Ha ruins. We did it through the ship, but price matched a better rate we found online (google around). It was enjoyable. Worth the price we paid.

Thank you for your information on your shore excursions.

Our first time with Carnival... does Carnival 'price match' their shore excursions?

If they do, how does it work? Any info you can share would be appreciated.

    Thanks :)

  9. Just read a recent posting in another CC forum... "Australia and NZ are now both chip and pin only"

We were in Australia in February 2013 and our 'no chip' VISA cards with a 4 digit pin through a USA Bank (Capital One) worked without any problems. Is Australia now 'chip and pin' credit cards ONLY?

It appears most USA banks plan to convert to 'chip and pin' credit cards in late 2015... however, we will be returning to Australia with our 'no chip' credit cards in late March 2015.

    Thank you!

  10. I was on both the Oasis and Quantum TA.

My Quantum 25% Future Cruise Certificate arrived yesterday by post.

They are sent directly if you booked directly or to your agent if booked through an agent and then the agent notifies you.

The Oasis decision came two days after the Quantum letter and stated that it should arrive within 6 weeks.

FCC's can be applied to any sailing more than 4 days out. I have applied my previous certs at final payment.

    Thanks for the information.

Does the FCC state future Royal Caribbean sailings only or could it also be applied to a future Celebrity sailing?

  11. Hello

for everyone's info. here is a reply to an e mail I sent RCCL on 31st October.

    "Dear Valued Guest:"

Less than Quantum and no OBC, I am a UK customer, will be interested in any offers to guests from other areas of the world.

    Regards

    Martyn

We are in the USA and we received the same exact email.

We did not send RCI an email about the Oasis of the Seas issues... we did complete the online survey.

  12. If smoking is a concern to you, I would suggest checking if smoking is still allowed aft on deck 10 starboard side. 1119 may be far enough from the aft starboard corner not to be an issue. We were on Millie last May (1108) and some friends staying aft starboard side had some issues with it.

Sorry... got starboard & port mixed up. Cabin 1119 is port side and Cabin 1116 is starboard side. Not sure if the port side continues to be the smoking side of the ship. During our cruise, smoking was allowed aft on port side of deck 10.

  13. I have the option to choose between 1116 (port) or 1119 (starboard) for our Connie cruise in January. They are both out on the hump and sightly bigger than the other side AQ rooms, but are there any difference between those two at all?

  14. Thank you for your quick response.

Some one on CC Board suggested following site .

    https://easyeta.com/ $9.95 USD

    Is this site legitimate?

    Thanks.

We are from the USA and we used EasyETA for our Australian Visa last year without any problems.

We plan to use it again when we visit Australia again next year.

  15. I've read good things on this forum about Tokyo Free Guide although I've never used them myself.

We used the Tokyo Free Guide services while in Tokyo last May and found them to be very good. We had two different guides because we requested two half days tours and both guides were knowledgeable, very caring and spoke English very well.

Although we would highly recommend Tokyo Free Guide for sightseeing tours of Tokyo, I do not know if TFG does tours outside of Tokyo.
