  1. I have yet to hear from RCCL regarding this new law and I hope that they are going to adopt a sensible approach and not threaten us all with loosing our loyalty points and benefits if we don't want to provide them with an e-mail address. If cruise lines within the Carnival group go ahead and remove all onboard benefits for those who don't comply they will certainly thin down their memberships, but I wouldn't want the job on Onboard Loyalty Manager !

  2. Our favourite place for an evening drink is the sunset bar, however on our last cruise there were several evenings when the weather was cold and rough. With these conditions, Spirits provided a welcome haven being low down and midships. The ship's movement would certainly have been felt in the Living Room. I am begining to think that maybe Pursuit is not for us. Azamara is changing.

  3. On deck 9 Journey and Pursuit have a Sunset Bar, Pursuit has a Sunset Verandah. Does this mean that they are not adding an actual bar to that area. I know that there was not one on Adonia but sincerely hoped that Azamara would include one. I am also confused by the need to have three spaces on deck 5 in lounge dedicated to future cruises. I think that moving Mosaic to the opposite side of deck 5 is also a mistake as that side gets most of the though traffic to Discoveries.

  4. Having just returned from a cruise that visited Grand Turk I would not be surprised if the "locals" selling sunbeds were the same guys that the cruise centre employs to lay out the sunbeds and tidy them away at the end of the day. The green beds and GTCC umbrellas were packed so close together as to make them look totally unappealing, in fact the area was so dark it looked like a ghetto. Towards the back of the cruise centre beach, by the boundary fence there were plenty of free cruise centre beds, blue with aluminium frames. We took one of these for the day and were not bothered by any one. But as these chairs were vacated at lunch time by people returning to the ship I witnessed the "locals" blatantly stealing these beds by dragging them to the shore line, placing an umbrella between them and charging $30 to the passengers from the recently arrived Carnival ship.

I sincerely hope the Carnival Corp. will do something about this scam by next season. If it is legally impossible to stop people selling beds within the confines of the GTCC then I hope that they will warn passengers of this in the ships daily paper and with announcements on board. It is ruining what was one a very pleasant port of call.

  5. I was embarrassed by the replacement roulette and black jack tables on Journey. There are now electronic with a screen above them showing a scantily clad female showing off her enhanced assets as she invites you to come and play. I think it is demeaning, especially to the experienced casino staff that have been replaced by this farce.

I agree, the new machines are distinctly sleazy and not the sort of thing I expect to find on Azamara. At least turn them off when the casino is closed.

  6. If Azamara need to save $$ my vote would be to change the Azamazing Evenings to be an excursion type event which would be at an extra cost - everyone seems to have far too much OBC

I agree, I would be happy to see the end of Azamazing evenings. I hate having to eat early, in a crowded rushed buffet environment. The hassle of getting 600 people to and from a venue for what amounts to 45 - 60 mins worth of entertainment out weighs any enjoyment. Somewhere in the cost of my cruise fare I have paid for the Azamazing evening so I go, but it is something I could really do without. It is certainly not a selling point for me.

  7. I am also currently on board Journey. The welcome LCV letter in the cabin upon arrival stated "When booking your next voyage onboard, you will receive a complimentary Experience More Package, which will be based on the stateroom category of your choice. The Essential, Enjoyment and Indulgence packages range from US$ 819 to US$2038 in value. This offer is in place of your existing % savings as an LCV. member.

When I enquired further at the future cruise desk it was hinted that the previous % offer might still be available. These new benefits are of no interest to me. I was intending to purchase an open passage certificate in order to get a % discount off a future cruise but there is no way I am going to risk buying one , only for Azamara to change their mind next month and permanently impliment these new benefits. There is also no longer any incentive for me to keep cruising with Azamara in order to reach the next LCV tier.

  8. Thank you, uktog for the advice regarding the acceptance of US dollars. I have ordered some UAE dirhams for Dubai and Abu Dhabi but will take a supply of US dollars for the other ports. Worst case, I expect there are money changers in the souks.

  9. I am on the Arabian Gulf Cruise departing 14 Nov. 2017. Will the ship still be visiting Doha in Qatar, on 21 November or does the current political situation prevent cruise ships from calling at Qatar ? I am just wondering whether to order some currency (Rials) for that port. If the answer is no what other ports are likely to be the substitute, if any ?

  10. I believe that none of the juice on Celebrity is fresh squeezed. Some is reconstituted from concentrate, which is what comes out of the dispensers in the buffet, and some is frozen "fresh squeezed" that has not been adulterated or concentrated, which is the juice you pay extra for. But none is freshly squeezed from oranges on the ship anymore.

I will be on the Reflection later this year, is it possible to get this superior orange juice ( frozen "fresh squeezed" that has not been adulterated or concentrated) in the MDR at breakfast as part of the Classic drinks package ?

  11. We are also disembarking on a Friday and since that is their holy day are there likely to be less taxis available ? I understand that the traffic in Dubai can be very busy, so is it any lighter on a Friday morning, we shall need to leave for the airport by 9 a.m. Does anyone know the cost of a taxi from the cruise terminal to the airport? I am trying to decide whether to get my TA to pre book me a transfer or get a taxi on the day.
