What's sbs
I'm sure they meant S2S = Side-2-Side. It's 2 trips on different ships with turn around on the same day.
I'm not sure why your SIL thinks they would not be allowed to board.
Are they arriving back from their other cruise to a terminal in another city, or some other reason she concerned they won't have time to transfer over to your ship, before boarding closes?
There are lots of message strings on here about people arriving separately. Folks cruise together that travel from different locations and meet up on the ship all the time. I think you just need to tell check in clerk that they are arriving separately to join you on the ship.

If you cruise carnival often, I suggest carnival gift cards instead. If you buy them on a rewards card or aarp (and some other outlets), you can get at least 10% off. If you don't use the full amount, just save the card for the next cruise without having to maneuver to get your cruise cash back through the casino. I also like to buy cards at different times in the months preceding a cruise because then I can relax on the cruise, knowing that my vacation is already paid for, and at a discount.
so then do you just apply the money from the cart at a kiosk, throughout the cruise, as you spend?

If I had to do over I would do the Steakhouse over IL Viaggio the Italian Restaurant.
so you don't recommend the Italian Restaurant on the Italian style ship?
well that's sad...one would assume extra effort would be made for it to be excellent 😞

Saint Greg touched on it...but just to be sure you noticed the point...
Might be a captain obvious point but - on days you are in ports, you won't be using the Cheers pkg drinks while off the ship....even if you are at one of the private islands. so factor that in, when determining if it's worth it.

Also, when you go thru the booking process and get to the point where it gives you like 3 price options, you can usually expand that page to show more types of offers. I think Guarantee is usually a default to show, but you never know...

What do you tell the check in people when the 2nd person doesn’t show up ( no show )? Asking for a friend who can just travel with his kids
Thanks
I believe the best response I've seen one of the times this topic was discussed before was:
"We are traveling separately"
because it's true.. very, separately...like different areas of the country separately 😉

Doesn't seem like new sailings - just future dates for rinse/repeat

another vote for either Family Harbor or Cove Balcony.
We didn't start cruising until our kids were older, but I've seen several reviews or comments from others saying it's nice to be able to put the littles to bed, then the adults sit out on the balcony and enjoy the the ocean. To this point, an interior will be just like being at a hotel...and the rooms are smaller than a hotel.

Remember to skip all the questions except select a check-in time. You can go back and do that later, maybe in the morning after some coffee.
First time I've seen this tip!
so you can do just that part of check-in and it will save for you?
cool!

we had a door like this near us on Conquest years ago when we were in a corner ocean view room.
when they had the in-person muster drill, it was propped open and there was a metal staircase inside that led us directly up to our muster station.

right!
most I've seen since pre-covid for sure!

I agree - Best to call right away and explore your options directly with Carnival.
One option would be to ask to move to a cruise on a later date, when he's sure he can go....
there would be a penalty at this point. Sometimes it can be as little as $50 per person...depending on what 'rate' you booked under.
-
So if you enter a name at time of booking and that person can't go, then you have to pay a fee to change the name.
But if you leave it TBD, you can add the other person's name with no fee - Right?
Sounds like this is the best route, if your travel companion has not yet committed.
good to know 🙂

Last year I won $8,576 on a penny Buffalo slot machine! I had over 60 free games in a bonus round and mostly buffalo across the screen on every game. (My bet was $2.40 per pull.) Pretty exciting! I was actually paid in cash - expected a check, but no, cash.
Last year I also won $1,400 and $1,200 on two Buffalo slot machines on a Holland America cruise. First one in the morning and I moved to the Buffalo next to it and won the second one on it.
All 3 jackpots could have played havoc with our taxes this year, but I got Win/Loss Statements that covered more than half the winnings.
So will the casino cashier provide a Win/Loss Statement?

thanks, I was going to ask if it was worth it.

but... I think i have read in reviews that if you are platinum they can board early with you and that you can bring them as a guest to the special party, right?
