Ok so, yeah I have a debit card attached to my account. They won’t just charge it the 12th when we are getting off the ship and that’s it? Even if the money is there on that day for them to take? Lol I’m not sure why I would have to sign a promissary note, just take the money haha.

yes, of course. If you have enough funds in the account, you don't have to worry about it.

We had one of those Extended Balcony cabins , #14495 .

It was great . 2 chairs , table and a lounger. What a view !

For privacy we just slide the chars back toward the door (as that area is the same depth as the regular balconies).

Amazing value as it was the same category as the adjoining standard balconies.

good to know... and any balcony that has a section that gets sun, I would not expect to be 'private'.

Did it catch any more wind that a normal balcony?

That was my concern, the way it sticks out farther than the center cabins...that it might be windy as a forward deck.

  3. DH is like @Roscoe13 above... retired military and then truck driver, hard to get him to chill 😉

Gotta be early  to start relaxing as soon as possible...LOL

One time (back before set arrival times...covid, etc) we drove all night, arrived early at port and were allowed to board and to go to our room with the earliest group.

That allowed us to take a shower and a nap before a leisurely lunch, long before needing to go to muster.

We were booked on Horizon for next week, they moved us to Sunshine. The third pax fare was so high ($1000+) it was cheaper to book a second cabin. Found a solo, upper/lower with Cheers/RU2 code and no single supplement. Your problem at this late date is these should be among the busiest since the restart. You may be able to get it all worked out because of Covid cancellations.

this seems to be the best solution!

especially since you might have privacy for a lower cost!

call and let us know what you find out :)

I’m with you on the chocolate chip cookies! I think they’ve definitely changed their recipe! Not nearly as good before the COVID came along. It’s my lunchtime treat to go get a bowl full of the chocolate soft serve ice cream and then 3 of the chocolate chip cookies. So good. Been on 3 Magic cruises since the restart, cookies were not very good, was disappointing.  Glad you mentioned this, I will email Carnival and ask what they did. Y’all can all joke about this, but it’s the little things that make me happy on my cruise.

Update: I just emailed guest care, so when they reply, I’ll let y’all know!

    can't hurt to ask.

If no one tells them they do not taste good anymore... how will they know to improve?

just a thought, it might be shortage of an ingredient... or a switch in what they are using due to supply chain issues.

And the one that said it was weird was talking down on carnival as well. She went on Royal. She says royal is closer to Princess than carnival. She claims Johnny rockets wasn’t an additional charge when she went. Everything I’ve heard says that it was. “We’ll it wasn’t when I went.”

    BWAHAHAHAHA

Confession...I've never been on Royal...but I've seen the adds and sailed on the other 2.

I guess she equates riding the elevator with people on scooters with a flow rider...and watching people bundled up on blankets napping in the sun on the pool deck, while a continuous loop of a crackling fire plays on the MUTS screen, to a rock climbing wall. 🤣

20 cruises with Carnival, 5 more booked. Go out of Galveston, really enjoy it. So glad you discovered the location of your cabin before you were on the ship! The only other line we've cruised was a Princess cruise we won. You've heard the old saying "Cruising is for the newly wed and the nearly dead?" We didn't see any newly weds on this cruise. My husband and I are in our early 70's and were probably among the youngest people on board. The ship and amenities were nice enough but the atmosphere was oppressive. We're not party animals, but the vibe of a Carnival ship is so different, so lively and fun and enjoyable. I do hope you find this to be the case on your first - but not last! - cruise with Carnival.

    THIS^^^^

you nailed it... "atmosphere was oppressive" perfectly describes our last Princess cruise.

Picture the pool deck on a sea day on Carnival...hopping with a celebratory energy, right?

Now picture it with the jumbo-tron showing a loop of a crackling fire in a fireplace and the only other people out there were wrapped up in towels and blankets sleeping . Food had no salt and less seasoning than my mom's assisted living facility.  Pretty much sums up the mood for the whole week. 😴

I talked my DH into a do over on Carnival a few months later... when we were in the atrium the first sea day and the Dr Seuss parade came through and everyone joined in singing, dancing and cheering for the kids... I looked at him, threw up my arms and said "My people!"

I saw this yesterday as well for our Mardi Gras sailing.

Signed up for the Pit Grill Smoke Masters class and Teppanyaki lunch (it popped on the radar too). While I was at it, we decided to give the Chef's Table a try on Thanksgiving. 🙂

    Tom

sounds like something my hubby would love...if it's not just basics anyone with a smoker know.

I'd be interested in a review of the experience, when you return 🙂

  9. seems like I read in a thread months ago that the on board speeds would not support VPN, if that is what you need.

you might try  starting(or renaming if it lets you) a thread specific to internet speeds in the title, to get responses on current speeds being seen on board, from those who have cruised since the restart.

Hey, I had a woman on a scooter pin me against the shelving in a Publix once

There is something about getting behind the wheel of a scooter that has the same effect as that old, old Disney Goofy cartoon called Motor Mania.

I saw this with my mom, from mild mannered to NASCAR bump-drafter...

She actually clipped another assisted living resident's walker and instead of applogizing when the nurse talked to her about it, she was like  "Well they should have gotten out of the way" 😲

Also, no more freebies. I’m solo too!

My Mom isn’t able to travel anymore, though I so wish she could. But, turning 84 and mentally it’s just too stressful for her to travel. ✈️🛳.

Oh, she still wants to, but my Dad is pointing out the obvious reality. This just breaks my heart … I want my old Mom back. 😢  It’s a slow process.

We last went together in Fall of 2019. We definitely knew it was the last, she said so too. 😔 But, sadly she forgot she felt that way ….

I'm so sorry... that's a hard time to go through.

I took my Mom, who has passed now, on a cruise to celebrate her retirement...it was the first for each of us and I would not trade one minute of it for anything.

Glad you have those memories to cherish 🙂

Galveston has always been a home run for Carnival, perfect location.  8 million people within a 3 hour drive.

True... Plus if you do a 5-600 mile radius for those of us in the middle of the country that can get there in a 1 day drive,  you can see the even bigger draw

The lower pool was the public access one called Summerlanding.  The one up top, I believe this is the Loft 19 area for suite members.  Cabanas in that area are available for rent and would be a good way to burn through some of the 600 in OBC that some cruisers have received.

The Serenity area at the top bow of the ship is awesome and inside picture renderings I've seen shows that Carnival has stepped up it's game.

Plus, the entrance for the slides and the splash pool are no where near The Serenity. I agree...seems well thought out on this one 🙂
