Many pubs in central London will be open until 11 pm on a Sunday evening and will serve a full menu until 10 pm.
It's not the 1980s anymore :)

We are planning to take the HEX to/from Paddington.
We know that we will not do London justice in our site seeing. We just want to see a few of the famous sites. I am defining "see" as just photo opportunities. :-)
We just want a taste to get motivated to find a way to go back and give London a proper visit :-)
Are Pubs open Sunday evenings?
I read where there are night buses so we could ride those into the evening. It will be a summer evening and I think others may be out & out also. :-)
Thank you everyone for your help. I have gotten some out of everyone's posts :-)

Two hours before the flight time is sufficient if there are no security alerts, strikes, etc on the day. Check in the morning on the day.
You won't need many GBP. Almost everything you need can be paid for by credit card. If you decide to take a taxi from your hotel, be sure to make it clear in advance that you will be paying by card.
Thank you :-)

Regarding purchasing GBP in Gibraltar. Gibraltar has its own pound, which isn't the same as UK pound. You would just be stuck with Gibraltar pounds and nowhere to spend them.

Thanks for that info :-)

Which airlines? That can affect the answer to your question/hope.I don't think that this is necessary. But again, advice may depend on the airline concerned.

We (2 of us) are flying post cruise from Rome and arriving LHR 1910 on Sunday July 2. We depart 1400 on July 3 for the USA.
After researching the board, we are staying at the Hilton - Paddington Station. My hope is that our checked bags will be checked through and we will just have a light carry-on.
I am thinking that we could see Buckingham Palace and get dinner that night.
The next morning get up early to see Parliament, Big Ben, London Bridge etc (I am thinking those are pretty close together) and other things in that area.
Returning to the airport at noon.
Is this doable? Any suggestions for a change?
Is the tube the best way to get around?
Our cruise stops at Gibraltar, should we get our GBPs there?
Thanks in advance :-)

Not a picture of a Princess Ship :-)
-
Thank you all for your responses....I am trying to get my mother to take her first Princess cruise and it is a past passenger/priority boarding issue that we thinking of booking cabins girls/boys.
They just got off a River cruise and enjoyed the anytime dining. I told her that we are going on a bigger ship :-)
I have to decide if saving them money is worth the trouble :-)
Have a great new year!!

Someone with Anytime dining cannot just show up at the Traditional dining room and sit down. Once onboard, each person can decide what dining they want. If it's not what their booking and/or cruise card says, see the Maitre d' to fix.
Thank you!

2 Couples...
men in one cabin and women in another.
The issue, 1 couple wants fixed dining and the other wants anytime.
If one cabin chooses anytime and the other chooses fixed, can two people switch so the couples can eat with the correct partner?
This would be a change for the whole cruise...no daily wishy washy

Long lines are really expected for that price. Was it offered for just a day?

I think it was just Embarkment Day. It was on the CB 3/2015

They offered that one time on one of our cruises.... The price was great but we spent more time waiting in line to have our pictures taken...the lines were soooo long...

We don't have pin and chip cards here in US that I know of. Will we have to use Krones for everything? I will have to get more Krones if we do. Thanks Lucy from the USA
When I was in Europe this past summer, I could not figure out why they would ask me pin or signature...then it dawned on me that they were really asking debit or credit. Just like in the US, merchants have to pay to accept credit cards. Debit (using your pin) is cheaper for the merchants :-) :-)

What is the length of the dinner?
Should I assume 2 hours since the dinner times are two hours apart?
Can you request the time the photographer to come?
We have a front facing balcony so I do not think it would work after dark but wanted to time it for a sunset photo :-)

Sorry some of you did not get a better deal on your cruise for the Anniversary Sale.
My sailing of the Royal this summer did have a price drop. Several of us saved over $1000 per cabin.

No problem using the shampoo but I also bring my own conditioner.
I buy travel containers and fill with my usual conditioner.

IMHO, it's worth every penny:)
2nd that!!:D
Put your bag out the night before and pick it up at your home airport :-)
We had an evening flight and we to the movies before going to the airport. No worrying about our luggage :-)

Happy New Year!!
I do want to make sure I understand the lingo for HEX tickets - single means one way and return is round trip.
I think buying single tickets for each direction is the cheapest since Sunday I could get a 90 day weekend saver...
Thank you :-)
