  1. No reports that reservations were needed or even taken. But one thread reported that they were getting so few diners that the servers at Salty Dog were grabbing passersby and inviting them in for free.

We made reservations (Emerald December 20155) but I would not recommend eating there. There was no taste to the food. I was so disappointed.

The food subpar the dining room and for $6 you would have a much better meal at Crown Grill.

  2. If you put in Miami when it asks for the city, then use the address for the airport and for where you are going, it will give you an estimate. (We're flying into FLL, and then going to the Intercontinental for 2 days pre cruise) For us it said between $35 - $43. My question is, when are the SURGE prices in effect? (we're flying in Sat. 5 pm). Any help is appreciated!

Uber lets you know when a surge is happening. It can be for a few minutes or a couple of hours.

Surge can happen at last call when everyone is trying to get home or for a sporting event.

  3. We used the St. John on your own excursion with Princess. We took a ferry from the port to St. John.

Rode the ferry right back to the port. No worries about catching a public ferry to a taxi who might get stuck in traffic.

I felt more comfortable using the cruise line's transportation since we were on a different island.

Have fun no matter what you decide!

  4. We used Uber for the first time last month for our cruise. I was nervous about using it.

It was great and cheap. Our drivers were friendly and the cars were very clean. The best feature I liked it that they used GPS to get to your destination. I have often felt cab drivers took the longest way.

There are many codes out there for a free ride if you want to try them.

    uberjmrteacher is one of them.

  5. UberXL drivers are supposed to have seating for 5 or more. The UberXL I have been in were large suvs with lots of room for luggage.

Once you request a ride, you see the driver and car type. You could always have another person in your party request a car if your first car is too small.

You also have the ability to cancel the ride.

  6. We like to use park n go when we drive down. We usually stay in Boca Raton and then drive the rest of the way down the morning of the cruise.

They have a shuttle that takes you right to the luggage area. The only down side is that they valet park your car and keep your keys so bring your valet key or a spare.

The shuttle run very frequent when you return from your cruise.

    I would recommend them :-)

  7. We used Uber for the first time last month. I was very nervous using it. I found that most of the cars are nicer than a cab (not all of them)

One thing that I like better than a cab is that they use GPS. Sometimes when I have ridden in the cab I have felt that they take the long way.

At FLL we met our driver at the Chauffeured driver area not near the cabs. We used Uber three times while we were at Ft. Lauderdale. All drivers have an "U" on their car.

It did take a little bit for the driver to come due to the traffic at the airport.

If you would like a code to get $15 off of your first ride you are welcome to use mine.

There are other codes in other threads you can also use.

  8. Yeah, sorry, my driver told me this morning they can now pick up at FLL and the port. Great service to the port this morning, but we'll see on the return to the airport whether we use a cab or uber.

We used Uber on our cruise last month. We were picked up at the airport (FLL) in the "chauffeured car" area.( inside lanes) Be sure to notice what terminal you come out of to help the driver find you. The driver will usually call you. Uber drivers have a "U" sign on their windshield. They use GPS to your location.

After you request a pick up, the app will ask you for your destination. The driver then knows where you want to go and the directions to get there.

We also used Uber to take us and pick us up from Port Everglades. No problems

    :-)

  9. When they store your partially-consumed bottle of wine for the next dinner, do they store it under refrigeration or is it just placed in a closet?

My experience has been that they chill what needs to be chilled and keep what needs to be at room temp at room temp :-)

I drink riesling and it was chilled and on ice when we arrived while DH had red wine and it was on our table (traditional seating)

  10. How does that work ? Do all airlines have Luggage Tracking ?

American Airlines has a place that you can put in the luggage tag number in and it will tell you where you luggage is located. I googled delta track checked bag and the do that also so I would imagine that other airlines offer it.

  11. Use EZ check and overstuff your bags...

It was great to see a "heavy" tag on my bag when I picked up my luggage in my home airport. No extra charge!!!

I used it for the first time on our last cruise and what a relaxing disembarkment.

I did use the airline's baggage tracking system to be sure our bags made it to the plane.

Can't wait to use it again!!!!

  12. We returned to the ship and went to the promenade deck to watch the sail away. We were scheduled to depart at 4:30. About 4:45 the announcements start "D" family in E103 please call guest services" and then they tried in different languages. 5:00 the Captain lets us know that we had missing passengers.

5:30 the gangway is raised...one rope from the pier then another...We are closed up and ready to go...then the passengers show up with a roar from the ship. E103 had 2 small children that were having a ball that everyone was cheering for them and they were waving as they came down the pier...5 more minutes and it would have been a different story...

We went to the Salty Dog for Dinner. I was so disappointed. The food was not up to par with the dining room and we had to pay for it. They only have one brand of craft beer in 3 different flavors. (one of which they did not have available). The waiters were great but the food was not worth $6 less than the Crown Grill.

  13. They saved the best for last on this cruise. I was dying to go snorkeling. DH is not a fish like I am so he got a massage on shore while I went to the morning excursion of the Woodwind.

It was the BEST $65 I think I have ever spent.

No this is not "photoshopped"...this fish is really smiling and waving

Something knocked off my bucket list.

We met back up and decided to take a Bon Tuk Tour of part of the Island. We saw the salt fields and beautiful beaches...
