  1. We needed PCRs to fly home in Feb after our B2B, and were pulled aside on arrival for govt PCRs, took home antigens on day 1 and day 3 after arriving home for the other cruises. Negative all.
  2. Four cruises since January 2022, wore N95s whenever outside our cabin except when dining. Never take elevators (Covid carriages, DH calls them). Masks when flying, airports, etc. -flying to/from Canada others required to be masked/vaxxed in flight too. Havent caught Covid yet. What is also often not considered is that we all have varying levels of immunity based in many factors. Our PHO here has said the vaccines effectiveness wanes faster in elderly people. Also some immune suppressing medications can affect people’s vaccine protection.
  3. When we purchased them they cost $100 Cad, which is the currency we pay for our cruises in. (Even though as you say the currency onboard is USD)The onboard credit that comes with them is in USD though. I imagine it would be the same for you.
  4. You no longer need a negative Covid test to enter Canada.
  5. We always have our onboard charges in USD for the reasons Fouremco gives, but we book our cruises in CAD. Sooo, When we bought FCCs on our recent Princess cruises we paid $100 CAD per each time. They are billed directly to our credit card and not to the onboard account, so easy to do. No exchange involved as we are buying $100 cad with $100 cad. They automatically did it this way and I’m guessing it’s because we do buy our cruises in CAD.
  6. Thank you for sharing your story. It’s nice to hear that RCI took good care of you and your husband and good for you sticking to your guns on having them pay for hubby’s quarantine up front. I wonder how many are not informed like you and paying up front and waiting for reimbursement. We have been on 4 cruises (Princess) since January, and luckily haven’t had Covid yet. Like you we wear kn95 masks and don’t do elevators. Our last 2 cruises were mask optional and few people wore them. I really feel that especially with no masking anymore on flights in the US, a lot of a American passengers being exposed on their travel day and bringing it on board.
  7. Also consider that on our recent cruises including recent debarkation in Vancouver, they want you out of your stateroom by 8:30 am. I don’t think you’d want to be doing a proctored test anywhere else.
  8. We have used our digital vaccine cards a few times now. In Canada the digital ones replaced the paper ones long ago and that’s all we have now.
  9. Looks like it’s not consistent across the line. I waited to buy until there were only 4 days left and it was prorated as $7.50 per day ($15 less the plat discount). I purchased through the medallion website.
  10. Also just off this cruise. Glad to hear they took care of testing for the Americans onboard. The “official” wording in the debarkation sheet was that for those needing testing to fly home, independent testing was available at the Pan Pacific (directly above the cruise terminal). It looks like this will be the instruction going forward.
  11. As long as I was on wifi, my streak updated. I have also realized now that it was only on sea days that I wasn’t able to refill the “gems” and no ads for hearts, etc were offered. In port those reappeared. Another poster mentioned not being able to get more hearts and having to stop, but if you click on the heart at the top of the screen in the app, you can “practice to refill hearts”. This worked for me always. And always needed, lol!
  12. Hi, just wanted to add that on our Princess cruise right now, I am using Duolingo app, BUT I can’t earn any gems through watching ads, and am not getting gem bonuses, and gem claim chest is missing. I think it’s because the wifi has no location fixed to it, so they can’t target ads to me. I tried putting on my VPN and still no luck. I would assume HALs wifi is set up the same.
