Your post puts things in perspective . At our local Pizza restaurant it costs over £50 and we get 20% discount. A decent 3 course meal for 2 is well over £60. On a cruise, 3 meals a day. We don't expect fine dining , just quite nice will do.
I guess like most folk we like to mix things up. Overseas A Inc hotels ( min 4*), cruises, weekends away ( UK and overseas) UK hotels, caravans/lodges. Premier Inns and other chains. We don't compare them as they are all different. We are all different. We enjoy them all.
Similarly, when the floating hotel reaches port, it parks in the dock area with a wonderful view of the shipping containers and the background noise. Beep,beep,beep,beep.......
Turning this around, some, us included view the prices on Britannia, Iona and Arvia as ' about right' to compete with land hotels. We will pay a bit of a premium to cruise. What we won't do is pay a lot more to cruise on the smaller, older ships. Some will and good luck to them.
I respect your mouse's decision but must admit to being disappointed. DW was disappointed that she hadn't seen a moose in our trip through the rockies and Alaska. Disappointment continued through Nova scotia. In Lunenburg I visited the cloakroom
Lo and behold.
For Christmas lunch, a couple of non family members joined us. We didn't know their expectations, so we used a Christmas tablecloth AND placemats. Didn't want them thinking the Zap's were common as muck.
Our tour guide was just like Nelson Mandela, about 80 with the same voice. We visited the Botanical Gardens and stopped for drinks at a small hotel overlooking an Island. One of the places we would go back to in a heartbeat.
Britannia is our favourite too, but we are on Iona next October. We know we will have a great time.We did a stay cation cruise in Iona. It was fine. All cruises are.😁
