  1. I have cruised from New York, but I personally would never do it in January. There could be BIG problems with weather hindering embarkation/disembarkation. I can understand wanting to spend a few days in NYC, but I don't know if January is a pleasant time to enjoy being in the city. But this is only my opinion. Many people do cruise from NYC year round, and the cruise lines would not be offering it if they could not get enough passengers to make it profitable. When I have cruised from any eastern US port, it seems that most of the people I meet have driven to the ship.

I don't think this is historically true. I think it is a rare exception when there's a storm so bad it hinders the ships departure or arrival. NYC gets storms cleaned up quickly and well. It would take an epic storm. Your most likely scenario is 1 1/2 cold days on either end. Pick a ship built for the cold with indoor pools and activities (like Anthem) and it'll be fine.

  2. Is Columbus Cove he one you can take the ferry to in the morning?

Also, I just watched someone's video and saw a sign that said "ocean Spa"- can you book massages on Labadee? If so, how and how much? I don't see them in the cruise planner.

  3. In my experience on Anthem (and on Breakaway), many teens (mine included) hung out well past 1am with some level of approval from the teen staff. They got food at the various 24 hour venues, sat in areas like the library and talked. What teens do. If they were acting up, they'd be told to head to their rooms.

  4. A ticket may be worth $10 to you but that drink is only costing the cruise line about a dollar. ,

I'm sure it's even lower than that. And that 50 cents they "give away" to you probably equals at least $20 back to them in casino play while you drink it.

  5. This would be their first cruise and I think that they really want to be in a room together. Maybe we will try to get them to go with us next May.

They can sleep wherever they want but they will likely have to book two cabins if they want to go. It's sometimes cheaper than booking a quad anyway. They can use one room to store stuff, extra bathroom for showering and all sleep together in one cabin

  6. The notarized note is not a requirement but more a precaution if you need to get the kid medical treatment or get stranded with the kid in the country. The form is required by the cruise line to remove a child who isn't your own or in your cabin off the ship. You get the forms at the guest services desk. There may be additional forms based on the excursion ( such as waivers)

  7. We paid $1413 with all fees and taxes but not gratuities for 2 people in an oceanview balcony guarantee for the august 6th sailing. It was a crazy sale a few weekends ago- it may have even been an error! We were immediately assigned mid-ship balcony cabins on deck 7 (even before I had to make the deposit). I thought this was a fantastic price but I think anything all in for 2 people under $2500 is a pretty good deal for a week's cruise.

A new sale starts on May 3rd so you can compare. As others have said, you can adjust or just cancel and re-book up until final payment is due.
