  1. Lifts have been out of service due to Force 11 winds now abated to 6.
  2. This text should've been with above pic! From excursions brochure. Tomorrow: Narsarsuaq We're not actually going ashore..... here's our excursion in the afternoon : QOOROQ ICE FJORD BOAT SIGHTSEEING You will join your small boat directly from the ship’s tender pontoon and then set sail amongst the blue fjord ice. The Greenland inland ice cap produces a tremendous amount of ice every summer, and the last journey of the icebergs begins when they break off the glacier front. The Qooroq Glacier is one of these glacier fronts, located in the Qooroq Fjord near Narsarsuaq. The fjord can be reached in approximately 10 to 15 minutes. On your boat trip you will cruise in between the light-blue ice, which South Greenland is famous for. During the experience, your captain may stop the engine to allow you to enjoy the Arctic scenery and the silence. Meandering between these amazing pieces of ice will provide you with unique photograph opportunities and stunning memories. Please note Local boats of varying styles and capacity are used for this experience. Guests will embark/ disembark the boats at the ship’s tender pontoon, not from the pier in Narsarsuaq. This may involve large steps. Some boats may not be covered and may not have toilet facilities. Please note that this experience does not take you close to the glacier front as icebergs are packed several miles in front of it. This experience should be considered as unguided and is primarily for guests to have the opportunity to enjoy sailing between the ice. The captain may provide information, but this is not guaranteed. Local boats are in high demand within the area and may prioritise other work. As a result, the exact number of boats and their capacities are not known until the day before the ship’s arrival. It is possible that there could be last-minute changes to your allocated vessel and/or experience departure time on the day itself. Our local agent has scheduled departures based on their experience, however, delays with one departure for any reason could have a knock on effect on other departures throughout the day. Guests’ patience and understanding is appreciated. Flat, comfortable, non-slip footwear and a warm jacket, gloves, hat and scarf are recommended. This experience has limited availability and therefore early pre-registration is essential. Pre-registration / bookings for this experience will close 14 days before arrival into port so early registration is recommended. (not my pic!) We shall watch the Queen's funeral in the morning 😥
  3. Really struggling to upload pics atm. Dreadful weather and only had WiFi for a bit. The Activity Studio is a lovely space for classes and table tennis. The show last night was a short version of 'My Fair Lady'. Luverly. Clocks went back again last night. Day 7 / 34 sea day We meet with new friends for scrabble every sea day morning. This morning the Captain popped round and had a chat with the 'Learn Bridge' group.
  4. I struggle with my hearing, we're on a 6 top and it's a strain.
  5. The Gym is tucked away on deck 2. No windows just machines and weights.
  6. We've made reservations for all 3 specialty dining experiences. This is 'Sea and Grass'.
  7. Visited venues hitherto missed. Out on the Lido deck there's an ice cream vendor. I forget the price. They're running a quiz on the big screen.
  8. Had lunch for a change in The Buckingham restaurant. A much calmer experience than the buffet. Seating not an issue.
  9. Captain's noon update. Slight deviation to route to avoid rough seas. Bearing 242⁰.
  10. Day 6 / 34 Sea Day Good morning and thanks for following 😊 At his noon address yesterday the captain said he was going slightly faster as he anticipated having to slow down around ice bergs as we approach Narsarsuaq. We've actually slowed down today as there's fog out and it's only just lifting and the sun is making an appearance. Am not able to pick up our current location as Marinetraffic info is over 24 hours behind now.
  11. Hi 👋 there are 9. Three forward, three midships and three aft. I will ask about the decor and get back to you 😀
  12. There's music everywhere. I think we've found our evening place. Botanical Lounge. Marina and Alina
  13. Day 5 / 34 Sea day Good morning and thanks for following. Our clocks went back an hour last night. We get a daily activity sheet delivered to our cabin the night before. Here's today's activities copied from the app. Marine Traffic location not updated.
  14. Received this email : Ambassador Cruise Line Dear Guest, After the very sad passing of Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II last week and confirmation that her funeral will be held on Monday 19th September, Ambassador has taken the decision to close the Head Office on this day. For any guests sailing with us on the day of her funeral, we understand that many will wish to watch the funeral and to pay their own respects to Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II, and so we will be showing the service on board for those wishing to come together. Further details will be announced on board. The service will also be available on our cabin TVs for those who would prefer to watch privately. Our office will be closed on this day, to allow our staff to spend time with their friends and families to pay their own respects and tributes to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, our country's longest serving Monarch. Our Reservations, Guest Services, Trade Sales Support teams and telephone lines will be closed, and will reopen as normal at 09:00 on Tuesday 20th September. Our Always Here 24/7 number will be operational on Monday 19th September should any guests have any urgent issues. We would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your understanding and invite you to join us in celebrating the long and glorious life of Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II. Kind regards, Guest Services, Ambassador Cruise Line
  15. Grandma's chicken noodle soup. I make better sorry Sidney 😉 Sticky toffee pudding 😋 Pimm's waiting for tonight's show. Got here early. Lesson learnt from yesterday!
  16. In the Observatory for sailaway. I have an Expedition Coffee (Bailey's), he has a Tropical Watermelon (or two!)
  17. Walking back down I pop into a supermarket to get a price comparison. Two coffees at Paname had cost just short of £10! Current exchange £1 = 8.55 krone. ALL red buses in Tórshavn are free to dissuade residents from using their cars thereby protecting the environment.
  18. I walk up a not steep hill to Vesturkirkjan, a Lutheran church. Consecrated in 1975. The highest on the island at 40.9 metres it rises above the city as a landmark and its shape seems to be inspired by a ship with a sail. The tower is shaped like a pointed pyramid cut in two vertically. In 2006, a monument by the sculptor Hans Pauli Olsen was erected in front of the church in memory of Sigmundur Brestisson (961-1005), who initiated the Christianisation of the Faroes.
  19. I saw a church spire and decided to head towards it, passing an old cemetery. Grab a coffee on the way. Paname café is lovely and is adjacent to a super book shop selling postcards and stamps!
