  1. Saw both of these shows last fall on The Jade and they were amazing! Have a great cruise!
  2. We were on The Jade last fall in Greece and it was wonderful! Great staff, wonderful food and very clean and organized.
  3. Hope so too! First time doing the Thermal Spa for us Last cruise we spoiled ourselves with Free at Sea Plus, so this cruise I figure there won't be too many kids and a quieter group of cruisers on board so thought why not!
  4. Oh no 😞 I booked the Breakaway thermal spa? Hope it's not noisy when we go!
  5. I have also noticed that Roll Calls are becoming a thing of the past, FaceBook seems to be the way to go but being one of the few who never drank the Kool Aid of Facebook I guess I have missed out on some get togethers on board! Years ago I started to set up a CC get together only to have someone else on the roll call take over so I have never bothered again. If there has been one for any of our sailings we have always attended, meetings, Slot Pull, bar crawl. They have all been fun! I have a fabulous picture of my husband during the bar crawl on The POA! They made him wear a purple stuffed Octopus on his head!
  6. We upgraded last fall on The Jade in Greece with Free at Sea Plus and it worked out great for us. This was a dream trip and we wanted it to be super special! It gave us $100 per port excursion money which we typically don't use NCL excursions but because of the $100 we used them for all ports, basically the cheapest ones which provided us with airconditioned transportation to where we wanted to go! It was 100 degrees each day we were there! The wifi was huge for my husband who owns his own business so needed to be in contact. Starbucks was also a big plus for him, not me but he really enjoyed his coffee several times a day! The two extra specialty meals where so nice as we ventured out and tried two dining options we had never tried before! And the upgraded alcohol was great, my husband got to try all kinds of Scotches he wouldn't have been able to on the basic plan. Scotches that would be $30 plus a glass where included, plus I could have my Grand Marnier night cap each night! But for our upcoming NE cruise we will not be upgrading, no plans to use any NCL excursions and as a Platinum Latitude's we will have 4 specialty meals already. His phone carrier covers him in Canada and our NCL stock OBC can be used for his Starbucks! But we did think about it!
  7. Small port area that you can easily walk around, a few shops and bars. Not far away is a nice beach. Cute enough to get off ship for a short visit!
  8. We have only sailed NCL but are branching out this year to MSC and next year Windstar but we have always enjoyed NCL. Just like anything else in this world there will be good and bad but as long as we have a positive attitude we have always done just fine with NCL. We like the casual atmosphere but also like dressing up a little for dinner and shows if we want too. The bigger ships have more to offer in entertainment and activities but we recently were on the Jade which is much older and smaller but we really enjoyed getting to know the staff and had a great time on that cruise. Things that I know are different from other cruise lines will be the Free at Sea promo, drinks, specialty dining, wifi and excursion money included. For us its the drinks and dining that matter, rarely use the other two options. No assigned dining times, two MDR's that are included free, O'Sheeans which is a 24 hour food options included. And of course the buffet is included. Make sure to book a cabin above or under other cabins for less noise, we did a Club Balcony once and enjoyed the perks but these are typically under the buffet depending on the ship so can be nosey. I feel the cabins are very comfortable, we are balcony only people so can't comment on inside or ocean view. We love using our balcony daily! We are very much looking forward to our upcoming NE cruise this Sept.
  9. The Waterfront is a neat concept of outdoor space for dining and bars, also for walking around the ship and some nice seating areas to really enjoy the water! Bermuda was lovely for us, we had three days there and overnights so really got a good feel for the Island. Used the bus to go where we wanted to and to explore small beaches here and there. Even did a day pass at a small hotel on the beach which included lunch and shower facilities. Small, quiet and very relaxing! Like you, having spent many years vacationing in Mexico with our kids we now really enjoy peaceful relaxing locations!
  10. Bermuda is lovely but not a beachy party vibe, just a calm beautiful relaxing beaches. Most Bermuda cruises overnight at least one night in port so you have time to enjoy the island and take your time getting back to the ship. We had three nights in port on our cruise Easy bus system but a very proper atmosphere, think British! Never been on the Joy, we were on the 5th sailing of the Breakaway to Bermuda and really enjoyed her but our sea days were rainy so did not get to enjoy the Waterfront. We are booked for Canada/New England on The Breakaway again this fall and really looking forward to it but we know that this cruise will be more about the ports of call and very little time to enjoy the ship. Get to mark off another National Park! Have been to 5 via cruises for a total of 19 so far! 20 after this cruise and Acadia! Like Mira28 said, both very different cruises but both very good
  11. Yes, great tour! Looking at doing it again in Sept on The Breakaway
  12. I just bought a couples massage for my son and his wife for our upcoming cruise on The Seashore but can't figure out how to make a reservation time for them. Do I have to wait till after web check in or will they have to make their reservation once on board? They would like to have their massage while we are at sea which I am sure lots of people would prefer the same so was hoping to be able to make the reservation sooner than later! Thanks again everyone!!!!
  13. Thank you, we won't be one of those people who hold up the ship for everyone else! I was just trying to find out answers as to what to expect on an MSC cruise. We plan on being out of our cabins by 7am, eat breakfast and get off the ship as soon as they let us!
  14. Thank you everyone! Grandma will start looking for some dinosaur and princess magnets for my grandkids!
  15. Hi guys, new to MSC and thanks to those who have already answered some of my questions! I am not someone who decorates my cabin door but we will be traveling with our 3 and 5 year old grandkids in October and I was wondering if cabin door magnets or decorations are allowed? I thought a few dinosaur and princess magnets might be a cute way for the kids to find their cabin door when we are all walking back from the pool or meals. I looked at MSC website and could not find anything about door decorations and I also searched on this forum and found one person saying they have done it. Just wondering! Thanks again and i am sure I will have more questions as we get closer!
  16. Breakaway has the Waterfront outside area for dining and drinks if the weather is good
  17. Yes, we have a car rental already and will most likely just do Disney Spring's as you are right! Disney is very expensive!
  18. Yes we did match but only received Gold, we are Platinum with NCL
  19. Thank you! We don't plan on being the last ones off and having a visit with the sheriff! 😅 Now that I know about all we can do is eat breakfast we will disembark shortly after eating and let the crew do their magic!
  20. Thank you GA Dave! Yes I have seen this video before and also the making of Ocean Cay Island, all very interesting. I completely understand the work it takes to turn over any cruise ship, we have done the ship tour twice now on NCL and it really is amazing all they do! It is new to me to have to be out of our cabin by 7 am, and not sure what we can or cannot do on MSC ships so asking the experts! I know on NCL we can stay in our cabin till 9 am which we normally don't as we do want to help out the crew and get out of our cabin so they can turn it over! Plus we typically have a flight home right away. We had great return flights but now Southwest has cancelled our flight and we won't fly out till late at night so just trying to figure out what to do with a 3 and 5 year in tow! So guess we will eat breakfast and head out shortly there afterwards, maybe check out the missiles at the Space center and slowly drive to Orlando! Really looking forward to the MSC experience!
  21. Thank you for your response, very helpful! Have a great day!
  22. Hello! Going on our first MSC cruise this October out of Cape Canaveral and we have a late flight home from Orlando. So wondering what time is all off the ship? I have read we have to be out of our cabins by 7am, is this correct? But not sure what time we have to be off the ship. Will the kids be able to swim for a while before we have to be off? And where will breakfast be and till what time? Thank you in advance for your help!
