  1. Also there is an issue with the cruise planner.  On a 3 night cruise the UDP is 371sgd which is high considering on our 4 night it was advertised at 175 and below.

also I tried to book a sushi class and it had it for days 7,8 and 11 of the cruise.   I think they may have rushed to add the new cruises to the system and it caused issues.

As it was I booked a March cruise after they announced the extension and I could only book an inside guarantee. There was no option to pick my own room so inventory may not be fully loaded properly yet.

I see Owner's loft and Grand Loft but both are stated as Sky Class, which I thought was weird, unless I saw it wrong.

So I tried some mock bookings and found a n owners loft but under details it does not say Star and don’t give the full details however the Sky class does.

When I was booking back in late Oct I do remember seeing them say Star class with the details.

Per RC website the following are Star

    • Royal Loft Suite
    • Villa Suite – 4 Bedrooms
    • Owner’s Loft Suite
    • Grand Loft Suite
    • Owner’s Panoramic – 1 Bedroom
    • Grand Panoramic – 1 Bedroom
    • Star Loft Suite
    • Spacious AquaTheater Suite with Large Balcony – 2 Bedrooms

If you scroll back to Jan 25 on the Singapore Cruise Society Facebook page, you'll see a review by someone in Star class suite.

Yes. I’ve noticed the suites seem to sell fast on these sailing.  I’m not sure if it’s because they only use half of them or are really popular as most folks haven’t been able to travel (without a 2 week hotel quarantine in most cases plus 3 swab tests) in almost a year.

My fingers are crossed for a Royal Upgrade on on our March, 3 night sailing.  Last cruise was during the holidays and was at sold out  (50% full per regulations).

Can someone explain to me the procedure for getting swabbed at Raffles City before the cruise. What happens if you're a family that's sailing, do you all get the same booking appointment for the test or do you still have to go according to your designated time slot as an individual passenger?

You book the appointment, pick the day and time you like and go as a family.

    Its pretty fast and efficient.

If the cruise isn't yet canceled (even if it will most certainly be canceled), why would they not continue to try to sell add-ons? They'd be a poorly run company if they didn't.

They're actually losing money long term by selling packages with the FCC/OBC refund option, but that short term revenue help them actually exist in the long term.

Honestly probably not.  They will just raise prices of either the cruise or add-ons in the future. Also the longer they keep the cash they can invest it and earn interest that can also be used to offset the additional fcc/obc.

It becomes a shell game of how long can they keep the cash for without paying out.

The following new departure dates of Quantum (all are 3 nights, Singapore cruise to nowhere) in summer 2021 just appear on Cruisingpower.

    May: 10th / 17th / 24th

    June: 7th / 14th / 21st

RCI Singapore website does not have these sailings yet.

I saw this yesterday and now it’s not in the search but I copied the link. It’s a May 13th sailing.

Maybe a glitch and not supposed to be published yet as QoS still has two 10 day Japan trips available, which are probably going to be canceled.

People who don't like kids would be happy... But seriously, the Pfizer vaccine is good for people 16 and over and clinical trials are currently underway for those 12 and over, with 2:1 vaccine to placebo. This should be approved within the next 4-5 months

You could argue that with all adults vaccinated that kids not being vaccinated would be ok as they tend to be in an age group that don’t have severe symptoms and their is evidence schools have not been mass clusters (*with appropriate distancing)

Maybe the cruise lines offer multiple types of cruises.  One that’s 100% vaccinated, another with kids and then one that vaccines are optional (this one is probably the least likely).

Again it won’t matter if ports of call aren’t open for business unless they just do cruises to nowhere or their private islands.

This means nothing. Do you believe stuff you read?

If 2020 teaches us anything we should always question everything we see and hear.

Does that video of quantum look fun? Even in their sterile controlled video it looks horribly intrusive and thats without the rest of the guests .

Think wearing a mask is OK? Try that in 32c in barcelona port when the humidity is ramped up.

Who would seriously choose to spend £4000 on a cruise when you can fly to Mexico or Dubai or another place where restrictions are none existent. With or without a vaccine if you are under 50 and healthy you have very little to be concerned about when at these place anyway.

Well I’ve already posted on this and ran this report.

In another local forum most have commented it’s been a great time.

As for that video I believe it’s supposed to be sterile.  Due to all the regulations in Singapore its best to show how things are.  Last week several restaurants were shut down and over 100 people fines for not following social distancing rules.

Also Singapore is humid and around 30 all year long.  We’ve been very fortunate that it’s under control here and now almost every case is imported.

Oh and have fun in Dubai (sarcasm).  Now at over 4000 cases a day.

    https://www.cruiseindustrynews.com/cruise-news/24289-cdc-order-to-require-passengers-to-wear-masks-on-ships.html

When the cruise industry restarts in the United States, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) appears to be requiring all passengers to wear masks, via a new order that goes into effect at 11:59 p.m. ET on Feb. 1.

The order was issued late Friday and will require face masks to be worn by all passengers on public conveyances traveling into or within the United States,

Not an argument but this does say public transportation.

One could argue a cruise ship is private. It also says when entering/leaving the US. So again you could says masks on until international waters, especially for a vessel not flagged in the US.

    https://www.cdc.gov/quarantine/masks/mask-travel-guidance.html

Now we also have the CDC frame work for cruising to follow as already mentioned.

    https://www.cdc.gov/quarantine/cruise/index.html

The real question is when do the lawsuits start saying the CDC is xyz (you fill in the reason)?

Also I believe all airlines are mandating masks but this order also applies to Airports and terminals.  Basically any location public transport occurs from now on a mask is required.

If that rate was 50% to 60% people would have been ecstatic when it was first announced.

The one shot J&J rate at 66% seems low right now but it’s one shot, stores easily and is still better than 50%. I’d take that today if I could.  Obviously I’d prefer the higher rate, but I’m not going to turn it down when it comes time for my jab.

I haven’t dove into all the data that’s been released yet but the article I did read reported after the first month the only individuals who cause COVID where in the placebo group.

It also reduced severe and hospitalizations in the group.  It works differently then the other two vaccines so until it’s allowed to be used and more data is available we’ll have to wait.  There is some evidence at least over time the J&J vaccine continues to improve immunity.

    Hi

We are wanting to book a cruise for September 2022 for the 2 of us....If I book a cruise for the start of May 2021 and it gets cancelled would that mean a 125% FCC which I could then use for sept 22. And even if it did sail then I could cancel upto 48 hours before so seems like a win win unless I am missing something....

I’m  sure  a few people must be doing this. Let me know if there is any cons to this

I’m sure there are some gaming the system. Getting the 125% no to apply to future cruises.

This is also the reason why some have said cruises they had booked in 2021 are costing more on 2022.  RC is giving out a lot of these 125% FCC’s they need to make up the difference somewhere.  So it will either be higher cruise fares or more cuts in other areas.

How is that legal?. I am under the impression that an American citizens CANNOT be denied to the country, period end of story. What about a country where they struggle for a long time or maybe even cannot get a covid test?

They are not denying you entry.  You don’t enter until you go through customs.  So unfortunately if you don’t have a means of travel back to the US it’s not the governments fault.

If you can charter a plane or take a boat or swim once you reach the shores of the US they can’t deny you entry (unless there is a valid legal reason)

With that being said early on when countries were shutting down the US State department did charter some “repatriation” flights to help assist those stuck abroad from getting home.  and looking it up seems it’s still being done in some countries. This one from Peru a few months ago.

MBCCS port schedule shows an interesting 2-week break of cruising from 12/04/2021 to 26/04/2021, also what looks to be a 1 night cruise/or some other non-revenue relocation for a night. Interesting. Could this 2 week be a drydock/routine maintenance?

    Screenshot 2021-01-28 at 10.21.32 AM.png

One more interesting thing is RC still has 2 10 days sailing on April 5th and 15th sailing from Tokyo list on their site.  Now Japan is closed until end of March but with the current outbreak I don’t see these happening but this could be part of that gap.  Or maybe like you said time for some maintenance.

A little birdie told me Voyeger May be starting in March, and possibly a port call in Malaysia?

I don’t see any stops soon.  Malaysia is battling an outbreak right now unfortunately.

Now Bintan or Batam are two small Indonesian islands that could work if a travel bubble could be worked out.

I was supposed to be on Voyager last summer so if it does start here. I’d go on another cruise to nowhere.

:classic_biggrin: But you were able to cruise! Granted, it was Singapore, but it was much more recently than any of the rest of us. :classic_biggrin:

Yes and the 4 day sailing prior to ours had been cut short to a COVID scare on board.  Ended up as a false negative and the next sailing was cancelled.

I guess there’s just no guarantee.  We haven’t left Singapore in over a year now.  Our friends had booked a trip in a travel bubble with Hong Kong and that was shut down before it even started due to an outbreak there and even that trip required 3 swab tests had it been allowed.

It’s all about the risks as an individual you are willing to take during this pandemic.  We had advanced purchased (middle of last year) airline tickets for a trip back to the US for this past spring. It took 9 weeks for that refund to process!
