  1. This video covers the South Pacific part of the cruise. It took a bit of work to compile. Had to wait to find shore based Wi-Fi to upload. Next up will be Australia.
  2. Shopping with Chef Karl at Melbourne's Queen Victoria Market.
  3. Sydney Harbor arrival. Clear skies at sunrise. What a way to get introduced to this beautiful city.
  4. Seabourn Moments make Memories. Not much more to be said. I expect there will be more parts to come. 😉
  5. I know this isn't exactly topical (events up to the current moment). Took some time to put together and then finding off-ship Wi-Fi to post took more time. Hope it brings some memories.
  6. Thanks. Glad you liked it. Chef Karl said they are planning additional Shopping with Chef. No indication of where or when.
  7. Shopping with Chef on our second day in Papeete.
  8. Here is the timelapse I did of our Panama Canal transit. Waited to post until I could find shore based Wi-Fi, didn't want to overload the ship Wi-Fi. Enjoy
  9. We traveled this portion of the Amazon in 2013 on SeaDream II. We enjoyed our opportunities to interact with the locals and take zodiac trips up side rivers. We have posted our videos of this part of the trip on YouTube. This may give you a sense of what we experienced. I'd recommend it. It ranks in the top 5 trips we've taken. and
  10. Hello - BLUF: For anyone currently onboard, I'd appreciate it if you could measure the height of the table edge. I'll use that measurement to fabricate a hanger to suspend the basket below the table with enough clearance to be useable. We have a voyage coming up and I need to use the table for some work. I'm trying to rig some sort of hanging basket below the table that I can put phone/camera and other chargers as well as storing things and still have them readily accessible. The last time we were on, I measured the table and found it was 60 cm x 78 cm (23.6"x30.7"). What I neglected to do was measure the height (thickness) of the table top (table top to the open area below the the top, not the actual marble thickness). It seemed like it was approx 10cm (3.9") but I'd hate to guess wrong. TIA
  11. We were on the Dover to NYC cruise earlier. Premium Internet - 4 devices and little (or no) restrictions on what you can connect to or stream is $19.95 USD/day for the remaining days in your cruise. It gets quite pricey for a longer cruise if you sign up early. Once you turn on Premium Internet, you have it for the rest of the cruise; no turn-on/off privileges. You can get a second free Internet if each person in the cabin has their own Seabourn Login. We didn't realize that until one of the Seabourn Square reps pointed it out and helped us get our second account going. I have a networking background and found that the free Internet was severely locked down. No DNS other than the ship's local DNS. No YouTube, Dropbox, Vimeo, VPN, etc.. No services using non-standard TCP/UDP ports, only HTTP & HTTPS protocols allowed. We did turn on Premium Internet with 3 days to go and found that we could access most anything, although not blazing fast, I didn't find any notable restrictions. HTH
  12. Scenic Cruising Saguenay Fjord - Hyperlapse 2022 - Seabourn Quest
  13. Well, here is where I've landed as a solution. I felt that the Jobi Gorilla Pod was too flimsy to provide the necessary rigidity for a time lapse and it didn't feel safe. I purchased an inexpensive adjustable 6" bar clamp (~$11 USD) that will fit the width of the rail. In one end is a hole that can fit a short 1/4-20 bolt. This attaches to a small ball mount that attaches to the camera. Very solid. Bonus is that It can clamp to other areas on the ship as necessary. And, I can use the clamp for other shop projects when I get home by removing the ball mount. A multi-tasker!
  14. Hi - We will be transiting the Panama Canal (second time) and want to take a time/hyper lapse from the veranda balcony using a GoPro with external power for the 14-ish hour transit. There is a a square wood cap at the top of the glass measuring 3 3/4"w x 1 7/8" thick. I was wondering if anyone successfully clamped a 1/4-20 clamp mount to the rail? If so how did you do it? Is there something commercially available for did you make your own? I was thinking about a two-part wood clamp assembly (essentially two squared off "U" shaped parts to fit either side of the rail) joined by a couple of thumb screws. The camera mount would be a "Tee" nut that I can thread a male-male 1/4-20 mount to. I've done other time lapse/hyper lapses and always had a round rail to clamp to. Putting the camera out in a public space for 14 hours risks having someone mess with the setup, thus ruining the time/hyper lapse. This setup is a bit different. Open to ideas and suggestions.
  15. This particular photo was taken at 03:40 AM local time. Stayed up for a bit over 1 hour taking photos. As you can see, the Aurora was low on the horizon. If anyone is interested, settings were: 15 sec, f5.6, ISO 2500, 34mm focal length.
  16. Took this Aurora photo early this morning (4 Sept) off the coast of Prince Edward Island near Souris. Again, the fuzziness is due to the vibrations of the ship engines and long exposure time.
