  1. We will be going on a 11 night cruise on the Reflection in May. So far the menus stop at day 7 on the app and are the same menus as a typical 7 day cruise. If I want to look at the ACTUAL menus I will be seeing for my 11 night cruise, can I look at any other 11 night cruise (ex Constellation Mar 28)? We are in an upper suite so are able to book specialty dining now, but would like to know which nights we would prefer the Luminae menu vs which we would prefer one of the other venues.

    Thanks!

  2. Quick question for those who have tried the multiple menus. I noticed filet mignon is on both the original menu and the "and Family" menu -- is there any difference between the way these steaks are prepared/served? (I can see they come with different sides - but are both typical Filet Mignon?)

I hope this isn't too much off-topic, but does the fact that Silversea is now part of Royal Caribbean give Silversea access to more airlines, better routes, lower priced-upgrades, etc.? We just booked a Cloud expedition to Greenland in September, 2023 where we'll be fling to Reykjavik and flying home from Halifax. The cruise sounds great, but I get the sense that the air options (or lack of options) could be a problem.

You could look at flights yourself when they come out (330 days before) and compare price of doing it yourself vs the amount they would give you in air credit. For us, we saved about $2000 for business air booking ourselves and got to choose the best routes.

As of today all cruises (except Galapogos) through 5/31/22 have a 60 day final payment window.

Do you have that in writing anywhere? I would love to have a 60 day final payment window, but my TA called Celebrity and I did a mock booking on their site for my May cruise and both still have 90 day window.

  5. We recently booked a veranda cabin on the Silver Cloud with a tub/shower in the bathroom rather than the shower only found in most of the other cabins. While I actually enjoy taking a bath, especially on cold days, I am a little concerned that it might be more slippery or hard to get in and out of compared with the shower. Wondering if anyone has experience or even better pictures so I could actually see the difference. Can't seem to find any specific to that ship. Thanks!!

It is not so easy to reduce capacity by bumping people within a 2-3 week window.  There are many other factors to consider like paid airline flights, especially those from across the pond, non-refundable hotels and all the other expenses people laid out months in advance. It is not like an airline where you can volunteer to get on a flight a couple of hours later. There is no cruise a few hours later. The company did shut down bookings to keep capacity at what was already booked.

While I agree that bumping people is not a great option to reduce capacity, there were other options. If RCCL had emailed those on this cruise as soon as they knew that entertainment would be canceled, they could have offered a refund (or other option) to those that found this new information a deal-breaker for them. This is exactly what they did in July when masks first became required. We got that information along with the option for a full refund (which we used and then switched to a Celebrity cruise a week later that didn't require masks). Different things are important to different people, but most if not all would prefer to know what they are getting into BEFORE they board especially if they were given the option to either reschedule or get a refund.

  7. We are planning on visiting CocoCay next summer with a group of 14 and thought we'd enjoy splitting time between a land and an over water cabana in the Beach Club. We are hoping that all of the members of our group will be able to use both cabanas switching back and forth during the day (although obviously we can only assign up to 8 to each).  Does anyone have any experience with this?

  8. As a fellow diver, my recommendation would be regs, dive computer, mask and snorkel in carryon. Put BCD, wetsuit and fins in the checked bags. Those are far more easy to replace if lost/stolen and are larger items. Don't forget about dive insurance in addition to trip insurance just in case. Don't bother with a knife (will be confiscated regardless of which bag). Also bathtubs work great for rinsing gear if you happen to have a suite.

    Hope you have a blast.

  9. I understand that security has the right to "confiscate" an item based on their discretion (although there is definitely a lot to talk about with the item confiscated being specifically listed as allowed). My biggest concern remains on the lack of any notification that an item was confiscated with the bag just sent to the customer as if it was a normal delivery of luggage. If a cruise line has the right to go through our luggage and remove items at their discretion without even telling us they have, are we not giving them the right to take anything they want? Isn't this a very dangerous policy to just accept -- which assumes that this is their new policy vs one individual violating Celebrity's policy as a single fluke -- which is what I am hoping.

I am perhaps more sensitive to this issue as I did have theft occur at the security station on a Celebrity cruise where I put my sunglasses through the machine, forgot them only as long as it took for me to get on the ship (pushing my dad in a wheelchair so a bit distracted).  I immediately asked if I could get off to grab them which I was told no. They said they called the port immediately but no one ever found them .  200 dollar Rey Bans that I just had to accept as "lost" (read stolen).

The previous posters felt very confident that Celebrity would not deliver a bag with a questionable item in it, but would rather send it to the naughty room to have the passenger watch as the bag was opened.  I am hoping that this is still the policy and that the poster's wife's experience is just about an individual crew member not following policy rather than a change in Celebrity's way of handling its passengers' possessions.

    From the Celebrity ticket contract:

Carrier reserves the right to refuse to permit any Passenger to take on board the Vessel or on any mode of Transport any item Carrier deems inappropriate.

In the interests of safety and security, Passengers and their baggage are subject to inspection or monitoring electronically with or without the Passenger's consent or knowledge.

Is inspection or monitoring the same as "removal?" I would hate to be on a ship searching for hours for an item I knew I packed only to find out much later that it was "removed" without any notification.  That is the part I am really having trouble with.  Multiple people on this thread were absolutely certain that Celebrity would never remove an item from a bag without the passenger present in the "naughty room." Others assumed the passenger just forgot the item at home.  If Celebrity has changed their policies regarding removing passenger's possessions without their knowledge, I believe most people would like to know that.

  11. To the original poster, I wish you had titled this thread differently. Perhaps "Celebrity stole item from wife's bag"  to get the interest this thread deserves. In my opinion, if someone removes an item from a bag without the owner's knowledge or consent and then does not leave any type of notification, it really is theft. I'm glad it worked out in the end, but it would likely give many of us pause if this has become Celebrity's new policy. I almost didn't read the post based on the title assuming it was another argument over what should and should not be allowed to be packed.

  12. When I first saw Celebrity introduce Aqua and Concierge Classes, I thought it was the best marketing idea I had ever seen. Take cabins that were less popular due to location, add on a little extra (carve out a piece of the MDR and call it Blu with a slightly different menu or add in an additional embarkation day lunch and someone assigned to help you make reservations) and voila you can charge more for the balcony cabins that were hard to sell! I know some people love them, but I do think the marketing was amazing!
