What deposit hold are we speaking of?
It's to set-up your onboard account when using cash instead of a credit card.

Just a great review with beautiful photos. Thanks!

Thanks for your review. Helps with the anticipation for our Equinox cruise next Dec./11.

I think you may be mistaken. I don't believe you can input you cc info online with NCL. I know you can with CCL but not with NCL....at least I have never encountered that option. ;)
I think you're right. Theo it's done at checkin.
-
This can be done either when you do the online checkin or when you show up at embarkation.

I see you're from Canada. You might want to prepurchase some onboard credit. You will be paying in $CAN. The credits will be in $US. Doing it this way gets you a much better exchange rate than the going exchange rate. If during the cruise you need some US funds, you can go to the casino cashier to cash in some of your onboard credit. You will, however, be charged a 5% fee. Still better than the official exchange rate. Don't forget that your account at the end of the cruise will be charged in $US. If you pre purchase a sufficient amount of credit, you will reduce the $US bill at the end.
Also, you might want to prepurchase your beverage package upgrade before the cruise. In doing so, you will be paying in $CAN thus avoiding having to pay once onboard in $US.
Have a great cruise!

I have booked a back to back cruise through NCL and called them when I booked. They have my address and I was not offered to book the cruises in CAD at the time of booking. So after reading this thread I called and spoke to some one and basically I was told to bad so sad.
I still have a couple of days before final payment and I'm pissed. If I had not already paid for my flights I would cancel.
I would like to be also be able to buy on board credit to spend while on board and at ports if I can save on the exchange. ..the lady I talked to was clueless. I'm wondering why are not all Canadians not offered the bookings in Canadian funds and not be only giving the rate if you are informed on a forum.
As the previous poster suggests you really should try calling NCL to either get your present booking charged in $CAN or at the least cancel and rebook in $CAN. Unfortunately you will be charged the going rate which is at $1.25. Still better than the bank rate, no credit card fee for the exchange and the possibility of purchasing onboard credit in $CAN. Best of luck!

I use a Florida based travel agency that allows bookings on Celebrity in $CAN and also ads onboard credit.

I booked three new cruises two days ago. One in April 2016, one in Januay 2017 and one in April 2017. Only select dining was available for these three cruises. I think the OP might be on to something.
-
The staterooms are usually available at around 1:30 pm.
-
Once you have a confirmed booking, final payment will be the rate you booked minus the deposit made. Any onboard credit purchased for your cruise will also be at the exchange rate you got at time of booking. So if your rate wa $1.19 at booking that is the rate you will pay going on forward.
-
My experience with the purchase of a cruise directly with NCL is that you have to ask for the fare in $CAN. The Norwegian reps will usually quote the $US rate unless you specifacally ask for a rate in another currency. The reps have no idea of the exchange rate applicable. They only give you a quote based upon their fare rates.

Smoking policy! Vey good point!

Keep dreaming! Tonite you may find that not only do you get a free bottle of wine but also they move you to the Penthouse Suite😀
Well that's one I will enjoy!:D

Welcome to Cruise Critic Viperau85. To the OP: you will enjoy Celebrity. Food is a notch above most major cruise lines. Entertainment varies, but there are still small music ensembles that are very good. The Martini Bar is full of great occasions for people watching and a whole lot of fun. The Sunset Bar is divine at that time of the day to ...you know what?, watch the sunset. Celebrity is laid back with opportunities to do, or not, things. I'm sure you will enjoy it.

There are still many Alaska cruises of course. Some cruises to Hawaii and ongoing to Australia. Of course, there are also cruises that leave the west coast going through the Panama canal... What exactly would you wish to see?
-
I seem to remember having read that you can get a free bottle of wine if you go to one of the specialty restaurants on the first day of the cruise. Is this the case or is my imagination running wild? And, what would be the case if I where to purchase a three diner package? My appreciation to all helpful responses! :)

We sail on Sept 26th but still have no stateroom assignment. Is this normal?
Your assignment could come at any time from now, till just at the time you board the ship.

RCI, NCL, Carnival, Celebrity, all have kid's clubs. As other posters have mentioned, a cruise to Bermuda either from New-York or Boston is a good option. It will give you the chance to visit a beautiful ialand for a few days. You can save on airfare and, finally you can add a few days to visit on these two great cities.
-
If you would like to try Tamarind for lunch, I would suggest you make a reservation prior to your visit. It's a very popular venue and fills up quickly.

Although Vermouth is technically a wine, who knows how HAL will treat it. If you can't bring a bottle aboard, you can always purchase one from room service at a decent price.
-
It was in January of 2006. Sailed the Carnival Inspiration out of Tampa on a 5 day cruise to the Western Caribbean. Johanne and I were absolutely hooked starting then! :)
-
The price of liquor purchased onboard is quite comparable to prices here in Canada. HAL has the most reasonable prices of the four cruise lines I have sailed, by far.
-
All outstanding balances charged at the end of the cruise are in $US.
Anyone remember Celebrity Century....now a Chinese ship
in Celebrity Cruises

I have fond memories of our first sailing on the Century. It was also our first on Celebrity. We last sailed her on a Alaska cruise in August/2014. Lovely ship, great crew. I wish her well in her new livery.
