  1. I gave my wife a cruise surprise for Christmas in 2003 and we were sailing 10 days later.

I was able to keep that a secret for 7 months!

I worked out the time off with her employer, bought her a new wardrobe for the cruise (as Xmas gifts), set up a hair appt, flew her Mother in to baby sit, etc so she was all set to go.

What I neglected to tell her was that we were given an upsell from an aft facing balcony to an aft facing Penthouse on the NCL Sky sailing from San Juan.($500)

She had no idea anything was up until we were entering the suite and she noticed the suite name and doorbell.

First taste of the suite life with a huge balcony and copious amounts of lving space. 2 butlers and a concierge.

It was the most relaxing, fun cruise.

  2. I emailed them this week for my stay in May.

I had two room ressies that I booked with LMT and it to them a bit of work to find them. Made a few special requests that were added to the ressie.

Now I have the room reessie numbers for the Intercontinental ressie system as well

  3. No they don't. We have been staying at Intercontinental Miami twice a year since 2009 and they have always fulfilled our request. Becoming a member of their loyalty program is free.[/quote

Do you have any advise for a dinner and breakfast in the area of Intercontinental?

There are several options in Bayside which is a mall within easy walking distance of the hotel. And South Beach is resplendant with many options just a shrt cab ride away.

We have enjoyed dinners on Ocean Blvd a few times at a place call A Fish called Avalon. Lot's of great choices fish or beef.

  4. We always book with Last Minute Travel and then email the hotel with a request for a room on a high floor with a nice port view! Would recommend to become a member of their Priority Club on the IHG website and mention your member number when doing the request. Good luck! Intercontinental Miami downtown is awesome!

Celly, we use LastMinute travel and are members of the IHG priority club but have been unable to pull our reservation up with the ressie # supplied by LastMinuteTravel.

When you email IHG how do they look up your ressie to add your requests?

  5. Curious.....has anyone else notice the wording on ncl.com under "complimentary dining" regarding the Haven Lounge??

    http://www.ncl.com/cruise-ship/getaway/onboard/dining#tab_detail

Exclusive to The Haven guests, enjoy your favorite cocktail and light bites surrounded by ultimate luxury.

    Price per Guest: Complimentary

I know that they are really referring to access to the lounge - because we have certainly paid for our snacks and drinks in the past. But that sure makes it sound like the cocktails and lite bites are complimentary, IMHO.

I am sure that this is just a casual mistake as NCL would never ever try to use terminology that infers benefits <MINISUITE> that really aren't there in an attempt to get you booked.

  6. But isn't the Platnium benefit dinner for TWO in LeBistro with a bottle of wine? Seems to me that the $20 discount is at least $32 short of what the benefit is worth ($20 dinner+$12 wine). Or am I missing something?

    You are correct.

That was my analysis as well and the reason why my family of 5 Platinum members will not be purchasing the dining plan. Two of dinners will be free with lots of wine.

  7. We enjoyed spending the day at the water park on our cruise on the Sky last May.

We also took advantage of the discounted entry special that they were running at that time.

That said, I would NEVER participate in this again through the ships shore excursion dept. We would do it on our own.

The line up outside the ship to get your wrist band and then escort to a bus to the resort was one of the biggest boondoggles I have ever seen.

Imagine 1/3 - 1/2 of the ships passengers lined up in an endless slow moving cue that went the entire length of the dock area and about 3/4th the length of the ship. Over 1,5 hours in line!

If you are going, get a cab, save yourself the hassle and enjoy more time in the park.

  8. Found this in a press release:

Miami’s Ultimate Ship, Norwegian Getaway, will continue to sail year round from Miami on a new seven-day Western Caribbean itinerary departing every Sunday starting November 15, 2015. Ports of call include Norwegian’s private island Great Stirrup Cay, Bahamas; Ocho Rios, Jamaica; George Town, Grand Cayman; and Cozumel, Mexico.

  9. So we are leaving today on the getaway and managed to snag one of the last Cabanas in vibe. Which comes to my question, I'm already noticing that people who didn't pay for the cabanas are using them. Is this going to be an issue the whole trip? I would hate for wife to come up in the morning and not be able to use my gift to her.

It appears that you are now in the unique position to monitor and report back to us all whether this is an issue or if it is easily dealt with by staff.
