  1. Agree, was stationed different States and my Kids had many different Vacations dates then. Now so many yr round School, Charter and Home Schooled. My Grand Daughter starts School here in Arizona 3rd week of July, has 2.5 weeks off in Sept/Oct and in March also, 4.5-5 weeks off Dec/Jan, and end School yr week after Mothers Day. Did my First Easter Cruise last April, well it ended on Easter, 8niter and we might have had 25kids. Shortest Cruise's done in 21+ yrs. Was B4B though and following leg started on Easter where we had about 50 Kids but many younger Adults. Last 10yrs at 47-57yrs old use to being one youngest on the longer 10+ niters, Repos, PC Cruises and Radiance Class. Average about 20% Younger then me, one starting on Easter I'd guess only 30% passengers were Older then me
  2. Here also. Many Moms on our Street, also 4 Aunts and Grand Parents on same 2 Blocks. We moved was 8yrs old then walked my 6yr old Sister home from School and Babysit her. Latch Key Kids. We'd be on our own til Mom got home 2 nites was 5, other 2 was 630pm. When was Summer Vacation would grab some Food, my Pup tent and Friends would go Camp out nite or 3. Sometimes in our backyards others 3/4 mile away in the Woods. This when was 10-13yrs old. We were safe, had my Buck Knife and a .22/Pellet Gun
  3. Most Schools my Kids attended we were allowed 2weeks personal/Vacation. But I'd always work Vacations & Military Leave around Holidays/School Vacations. Labor Day they only had 4 days before after and in Oct and Feb they had Fall Break(Columbus Day) and Midwinter Break(Presidents Day). Oldest was Home Schooled, Graduated at 16 so that also helped
  4. Yup it's changed. Cruising in general was called Newlywed and Nearly Dead, and Royal was this not a Family Cruise Line. First went on my Honeymoon at 20yrs old was only a pair of 18yr olds younger then us. No Families/Kids. This on the then new Sovereign, the largest Cruise Ship in World and first Mega-Cruise Ship. And this was Summer 4th of July Cruise. Soon as Voyager Class came out started getting younger Crowd, more Families and Kids and prices by 2002 were a third what were 15yrs before. Shoot in 90's couldnt afford take my Kids in Summertime. First 2 passengers were like $999ea, 3rd and 4th were running $1399ea, and this in an OV Cabin. We always had to Cruise off season, Feb and Sept-Oct
  5. Grifters gotta start somewhere. Maybe the Parents sending them out? 😁
  6. Even growing up in 70-80's we always had Curfew in City and in my small town of less then 4K. I was almost always out past it since worked midnite and later though was 15,16. That was allowed. Curfews can work but most time not really enforced
  7. Though lot of passengers dont carry own Cards. Know have carried my Kids, Grands and Wife's cards many times
  8. I would if Kids made large messes. Was lucky my Kids didnt let a crumb fall from their Mouths 😎
  9. Few times in 2022 could not pick Arrival times at 45 days, was 30 instead. Almost always was by 12:05am to pick time. Earliest time to pick on couple Sailings was 1030am and I was on Ship at 1025am, with two other Cruises earliest wasn't until 11am for first passengers.
  10. Agree, Radiance Class only Ship's been on last 20yrs. Was built to have some best of Vision and Voyager Classes
  11. Agree. Interesting we all had really bad cold's, worst one had in decades. Nope, turned out was the Flu. Daughter brought that home from trip to Disneyland(Tested +) and before it was CV returning from Cruise in Nov. Been tough Nov-Jan as the 4 of us all caught these spread out one by one. I really cant remember last time I was really sick, might been when had Noro in 2014...
  12. Got that right! Did 56nites in 2022 on couple the Cleanest Ships been on. Then add to it no more Masking or testing every week...Have B4B and B3B scheduled with 74nites just this Fall. Included in my Booked Cruises 3 full Panama Canal's, one 18n Hawaii RT, a Florida to Boston Repo and a 16nite Xmas/New Years(my first). With price Hotels, Amusement Parks, Gas and Travel in general get more Bang for my Buck on Cruising
  13. They will probably blame some Intern for this Error, though we all know it was some Senior VP of something something... Nothing new though. I remember 5+ yrs ago during Royal's seasonal release a bunch of Cruises had Suites at really low prices. Didnt take long for the Cruise Line realize the mistake, they probably read about the error on our Cruise Critic Thread. Royal gave everyone choice, either pay the much higher correct rate for the Cabins..or these Confirmed Bookings would be canceled, which most on here said they did. Fortunately I know of at least one that slipped through the cracks and price was never corrected. Was traveling SOLO on a 13nite Cruise in a 2Bd/2Ba Suite for which he paid less then a reg Balcony Cabin. 😎

  15. No guarantees but Royal is known to hold some back for Booking onboard. Check after getting on. Also keep eye out maybe few slots will open before Sailing.
  16. Lot the 2 tops are 4 tops split apart, so yes many are close. Makes it easy to reach across and grab Salt and Pepper from table next to you
  17. You saying they are Printed every Year? I thought was like every 4-8yrs they'd run a batch.
  18. Getting a couple $2 every few years would then use them pay for anything just causes confusion as most say it's not real, fake. It's like the $1 coins that never take and Govt is then stuck with Billion's of them. They then try unload them on anyone making purchase from Govt Postage Stamp Vending Machines.
  19. I Know, as said different results. Managed dozen different locations, only 2 were new/on Campus. As former Bar and Restaurant MGR observed and learned lot about Royal Costs/Goals. This also from talking with the Senior Staff last 25yrs. They have been cracking down on extras/freebies, started Pre-CV but more since startup. Use to always make all my Food, Labor and Alcohol costs, Royals is trying even beat my achieved low levels...
  20. Warned my Workers if they continued giving extra and while receiving extra Tip what would happen. Those that did I Fired for Theft. Took a couple Polls back then, majority didn't want extra Alcohol. Though do understand some like more Alcohol and some less for personal taste. Largest exception was College Crowd at my location next to College Campus Bar/Lounge, they wanted get Drunk for cheapest price. Binge drinkers. ... Sad thing was my then Bar/Rest was few hundred feet from the Michigan State U shooting
  21. I started Cruising in 80's you'd see 40-50 Passengers bring their Golf Clubs/Bags. Was even few to bring Bikes to ride on Port Stops
  22. Use to be posting of all Cruises ratings somewhere. Maybe 1 a yr back then failed, just doesnt happen. And that wasnt any the large Cruise Lines
