  1. I wouldn't let the passenger capacity dictate which ship to choose, you may be pleasantly surprised if you tried it.

I was on Radiance (sister to Serenade) and the ship had more congestion/crowds than the mega ships. The Voyager class ships are very spacious and well laid out. The Oasis carries more than 6K passengers and it felt the least crowded of all.

  2. I have sent an email and have received this automated reply: "Our representatives will reply to your inquiry in the order in which it was received." If I get specific information about our sailing, I will post it on our roll call. I will also attach the spreadsheet I have created, in case anyone is interested in adapting it to their specific plans. :)

    Great, thank you![emoji1]

  3. I knew that SNF had been scheduled on other nights on different Liberty sailings but didn't know that I could email RCCL for the schedule for my sailing. Thanks so much for posting the email address, so I can get the exact schedule for my sail date!! That will really help me nail down my schedule. Thanks for enabling my "Cruise Planning OCD Syndrome"! :D

If you find out any information about the schedule for our sailing, I would like to know too. Please post back. Much appreciated.

  4. You are wrong..not only that..I went to my Podiatrist yesterday and he just got off the Getaway and he has done both Oasis & Allure..he also told me his wife & 2 kids had a better time on the Getaway than the 2 RCI ships- and he is Diamond, as am I...and don't be so rude..I've done 31 cruises, 14 on RCI, and love RCI..but I don't lie ( never about cruises), and don't exaggerate..I agree the balconies are smaller, but you don't eat the balconies, and as a friend no doubt will come on here and tell you, he didn't mind too much when he was on the sister ship, the Breakaway..BTW, I thought the bathrooms & shower on the Getaway were much nicer than the Oasis...my friend was on the sister ship Breakaway and told me today that he "can't believe anyone would not like these ships..I can't.."....and my friend said the MDR was pretty mediocre, but they were offered the specialty dining package and took it & loved it, as did most of the people I booked..to the other wise guys, I don't "stir" things up...I don't post nearly as much as I used to..too many bullies & too many rude people on these boards..If you didn't like the Getaway & NCL, don't cruise them again..BTW, my friend who will no doubt come on this went on the Adventure Of The Seas last Feb '14 , and said THAT was the worst cruise on RCI they had been on- mediocre to terrible food & terrible shows, and told me the Breakaway was 10x better...different strokes for different folks...
Please re-read my comment - OP = Original poster. That statement was referring to the original poster, not you.:)
  5. Funny, I just sent FIFTEEN new NCL cruisers on 3 different Getaway cruises ( I'm a agent) AND ALL FIFTEEN raved about the Getaway and said it BLEW RCI away in every category- food ( they all had the dining package), entertainment ( "BEST" they ever saw) , service was great...ALL 15 passengers- WOW! I was blown away...6 of them are Diamond on RCI...they ALREADY have asked me to book the new Escape coming up!! Just an FYI..4 of them are good friends, and have been on the Oasis & Allure 3x and said, the Getaway had so much more to do and again, LOVED eating in different restaurants every night...
Unless the "fifteen" people all used the specialty restaurants every single night on their Royal cruises, this would not be a fair comparison. It would be interesting to hear their opinions if all of them didn't have the dining package on NCL.

Since OP never came back to explain anything, I'm with the others who think this was posted to stir things up.

  6. I never understand comments such as "never again" especially with no explanation. How bad of a cruise can it actually be?

Been on Breakaway and while service wasn't that great along with some other minor issues, I wouldn't hesitate to go back again.

Yes the standard balconies are small, knees are just inches away from touching the glass but personally we don't live on them every waking moment. Like most ships, the aft ones are huge.

  7. Based on what I am paying for Cruise and hotel now vs. what I am paying for similar acomidations in Decembe I think not. Paying a lot more in December which I believe is peak season.

    Have a great day!

If you are taking a cruise during Christmas week, yes, peak time. Any other week in December, no it is not. In fact, the week after Thanksgiving up until Christmas week is a VERY inexpensive time to cruise. If you are paying "a lot more" I think you got a very bad deal.
  8. As someone mentioned Liberty of the Seas is larger than Explorer so she swapped spots with NCL Dawn.

When Anthem arrives in April she will as well dock at Heritage Wharf as it accommodates larger cruise ships. That is NCL Breakaway's usual 'parking spot' when she is in town :)

Emmy, is this actually confirmed? If it ends up like this then Quantum could have used Heritage Wharf as well. Maybe the main reason regarding Quantum not staying in NJ wasn't the fault of the construction/dredging at the pier in Bermuda.
  9. roe2ship - I did see the "To the Top" guy there as well as many people walking up and down the hill to the beach.

Others did take the local bus, so tickets must still be available. There was a ticket counter in the Heritage Wharf building.

    Thank you!

  10. We also did the shuttle for $16.00 per person round trip, just as "Nolesrule" did.

There were three of us: my husband, son and myself - upon returning to the ship we knew that was $48.00 well spent.

There is no set schedule for the shuttle - it leaves Royal Navy Dockyard once the shuttle is full. There are numerous shuttles, and many people, so while we had just missed one, we had to wait only 15 minutes for the next one to fill up. This was in the morning around 9 a.m. on the second day (5-night to Bermuda).

When leaving beach, as was posted above, the shuttle bus picks you up right at entrance to beach, so no walking back up the high hill.

There were towels for us to use to put on seats as our suits were still wet.

The drivers are great and the scenery is beautiful as well.

I would highly recommend this as a stress free way to get to and from Horseshoe Bay.

    Enjoy!

Since they have this new shuttle to Horseshoe, do you happen to know if they no longer have single tickets for the bus to Horseshoe? Is the "To The Top" guy at Horseshoe still there? Thanks.
  11. I respectfully disagree... Peak Season is when all the berths in Fort Lauderdale are full and there are very limited hotel rooms avalible. That would be in the winter.

I see just one ship in port today...

I'm not sure what one ship in one city has to do with it. It may somewhat be a peak time for some hotels in Fort Lauderdale in the winter but as for the cruising industry (which is the subject of the discussion), Summer is considered peak season. It always was, is and always will be.
