Does anyone know if one of the Dining Rooms is opened for lunch on boarding day. I know we've had lunch in the Dining Room on boarding day on other Princess cruises.

Thanks all for the replies...didn't know Regal and Royal were the same (almost) ships.
-
Virtually all balconies on Royal are fully covered. It does not have tiered sides like Grand class ships..
So, any deck works. The least privacy is the cabins in the first three decks below the Seawalk. And aft cabins, as the aft is tiered, so you can look down - somewhat - on lower balconies...
So, pick your cabin anywhere you like along the sides or forward facing and you're good to go...
I was asking about the Regal...is it the same as on the Royal?

Thanks for the info Ferd!

I should have asked about the Crown MDR, sorry...my fault.
-
I understand the MDR is open for lunch on boarding day (but it's a well kept secret). Which deck is the MDR?

Thank you ALL for your kind words and advice. I spoke to RCCL, also the insurance co. and found all the necessary information I needed to go forward.
-
Death of immediate family member is covered and niece is defined as immediate family member.
However, hospice may indicate pre existing condition. Which is not covered.
Why do you think the insurance would require the immediate family member to have no pre-existing condition? I can understand if I had a pre-existing condition and they weren't informed before I bought the insurance, but why the family member?
-
My niece was admitted to Hospice and is very, very ill with surgery not possible. If she passes before our cruise on Oct 15th, 2017, will our RCCL insurance give us any refund or future cruise credit? I can't find any travel insurance papers from my travel agent and haven't been able to reach them today.

My husband wants to go on TA which includes Ireland where we have many relatives and friends. He's in his mid 80s and I'm in my mid 70s. Our health is good and we feel happy about that. We've been on about 30 cruises and have never been on a TA. Because I hate the hassle of flying I thought a TA would be perfect but am concerned about being out in the Atlantic for such a long time? What would you do? Should we stick closer to home and stay on the shorter cruises?
Thanks for all the great advice, I'm now planning on making the reservation! I think what was really bothering me was the airplane trip. Because of the suggestion to book a return trip to NY and then get a short flight to Fl, I'm now looking for the return cruise. Needless to say my husband is ready...already...so he doesn't need any convincing. We looked at the QE2 but that's coming back later than we wanted, May 10th. The Navigator Bliss will be returning on April 21st, their maiden voyage, which might work out. You've all had such great ideas and advice, thanks so much. I'll be checking back to see if there are any more suggestions.

:DThanks for the advice to go to the boards you mentioned. I was able to clear everything up and have been able to finish my entertainment reservations.

:(:(I haven't been able to access my reservation on RCCL's website for the past two days. After calling and emailing them, I was told there was a problem when I logged out. Instead of pressing 'logout' and then x ing out of the page, I just x ed out. So, for this error on my part I have been locked out. They are working on this now and I've been told to check from every few hours to every 24 hours, which I've been doing. I can't believe that a company the size of RCCL hasn't resolved this problem by now and I'm sure it's happened to many other people besides me. I want to make reservations for the entertainment nights but I guess my only option will be to call customer service and have them do it for me.

Thanks to everyone for the great hints!!! Only one thing I'm not familiar with is buying gift cards toward purchase of your cruise. Do you use these gift cards and just deposit them in your checking a/c or do you send to the cruiseline for the payment on the cruise?

Hubby and I are on Oasis in Feb...He is Diamond and I'm Emerald. I paid for the cruise with cc in my name only and wonder if we will get the perks for Diamond instead of my lower Emerald. Does this make sense???

Thanks for the info.

Sailed on the Oasis 8-27-16. We ate all meals at the Coastal Kitchen as usual.
Breakfast and Lunch menus were basically the same as our April cruise this year.
Dinner menus were completely different. There were 3 menus used for dinner.
If I can remember correctly, 1st menu was for 2 nights, 2nd menu was for the next 3 nights and 3rd menu for the last 2 nights.
We ate at 6:30 PM every evening. Our April cruise was much busier at dinner then our August cruise.
If the hurricane cooperates, will be sailing on the Oasis again this Saturday.
We just booked on Oasis for Feb. 2017 and haven't heard of the Coastal Kitchen. Is this a specialty restaurant with a special charge?

We just got off Freedom and thought the food in the dining room for dinner was great. We booked a Feb cruise on Oasis, leaving from Port Canaveral. I've been reading reviews for Oasis and many mixed reviews on the food and was wondering if the same chef will be staying on Oasis when they leave from Port Canaveral. Has anyone heard anything?
-
Does anyone know if the shuttle to the Port from the hotel leaves reasonably early and how dependable is the service leaving and returning to pick up our car.
-
Do you have to pay a fee to go to the Solarium?
-
This will be the first time for me doing the driving and I'm a little confused at the drop off changes. In the past, one of us would be dropped off with the luggage and wait until whoever was driving to meet us back in line when we gave the luggage to the porters. So with this new conveyor belt thing in the garage, it sounds like we can both go directly to the garage with the luggage and then check in. Does this sound right?
-
This is first time we're going to try driving down day before sailing and stay close to the Port. I'm reading about a 40% discount some of the hotels give when you drive your car to the Port the following day, but need some advice. Should we get the pkg which includes hotel and shuttle to Port or use the coupon and we drive ourselves? Can I use a AAA discount for the hotel and still get the discount for the Port parking? Any advice would be appreciated for these two very senior citizens....

My memory has failed me...again!!! I just checked back on some of my notes and see that Princess had the dining room opened when we last sailed a few years ago. We liked Freedom when we sailed on her two years ago and are looking forward to having lunch wherever!!! Thanks to all for setting me straight.

We leave Orlando at 5:30 pm with our 5 yo daughter. Any suggestions of doing something outside airport until then?
