  1. Hi I was on the Dawn last spring. The next to the last night I asked for a sharing table, which I then had to create. No one came. I had a very terrible dinner eating alone. The last night it happened again. No one came. I did see the restaurant manager and I told her my problem. She called the hostess and within 5 minutes a couple came to my table. I don't think the hostess was asking anyone if they would share a table. I really dislike not knowing who,if any people I might be sharing a dinner table with. I really prefer having a fixed dinner time. I did go to the nightly solo gatherings, but usually no one wanted to eat in the main dining room. I will not go on NCL unless the price is absolutely fantastic. Also no lobster in the main dining room(on my last btob cruise on Carnival Dream I had it 4 times!). NCl is one of my least favorite cruise lines. Kendra

  2. Hi ,A few cruises ago on the Carnival Freedom this happened to me and many others . Carnival gave out vouchers for free laundry, and later I got a small obc. I felt more for some people that had colored luggage that stained and ruined some of their clothes. The next day I found out a lot of the new crew's luggage got very wet too. The spa gals needed their uniforms the next morning so they used the hair dryer to dry their uniforms. Lot of unhappy people that first night. Also some of the paper luggage tags got so soaked you could not read them. Some people got their luggage very late at night. Bye for now,Kendra

  3. Go on the cruise! And if you ask for fixed early or late dinner sitting, ask to be seated with other solo diners. HAL usually puts solos together if you ask in advance. HAL usually has a singles/solo group meeting the first night. Sometimes the host for this event buys drinks for everyone! Also sometimes there are single/solo lunches arranged too. I went to one lunch and the cruise director joined us! You will have a good time on HAL! Hope this helps,Kendra

  4. Hi, I was on the Freedom last fall. Most of the playlist productions I saw were just fair. No Wow factor at all,but in the past some Carnival production shows did wow me. Playlist productions-very little actual scenery, video screen in back,no live band. Fair dancers and singers. The playlist productions I attended were only half full. I am going on the Dream this fall and really looking forward to NO playlist productions! Kendra

  5. Hi a few suggestions-if you book early or late fixed dining, you will be put a table with other younger solos. There is a lot to do aboard the ship, pick activities that you might enjoy! Remember at dinner in the dining room you can have 2 or more of an item(like double entree,etc.). Pizza is good. If Inspiration has a Guy's Burgers-go there if you like burgers. Check out the disco at night-lots of young people hang out there! And just have fun!!!

  6. To ChCo38 just go on a cruise! As you have been on Carnival cruises,I would suggest Carnival. Some pretty good single supplements(you will learn about these). Carnival always sits solo passengers together at the same tables(usually one for older solos and one for younger solos) for early and late dining. You seem to enjoy cruises,so just go on another one and have fun!!! Kendra P.S. Holland American line and RCCL treat solos well too,and like Carnival usually put solos at the same tables.

  7. I usually buy the soda card the first sea morning(day after embarkation). No taxes added onto the card, and I usually don't drink that much soda the first day. If you do buy a card, you can make a yummy root beer float-ask for a root beer with little ice. Sip a little. Add vanilla soft serve ice cream. I usually switch between sodas and juices during the day. They now offer fruit punch which is suppose to be pretty good. Kendra

  8. Hi Just wanted to say HAL is still my favorite cruise line, and I always cruise solo(not by choice, but my friends, family don't want to cruise). I would go on HAL more but the last few years I have gotten much better rates on Carnival ships. I usually use a website with the words Cruise and Compete in them. I ask for quotes and usually get 5 or more quotes back. I usually end up going with a company that has cruises, the initial n,and more in the dot.com. I have a b2b Caribbean cruise on the Dream for 21 nights in October that will be my longest cruise. You will enjoy your long cruise a lot!

  9. Hi I was on the Dawn in April. A few nights I ate in the main dining room with friends. One night a singles table was created for us. Other nights I asked to be put at a sharing table or create one. One night I created a sharing table but no one came. Very lonely difficult dinner for me. The last night it happened again, but I saw the restaurant manager. She sat down,I explained my problem. She called the hostess and within 5 minutes a couple was added to my table. I really like fixed dinner dining. I won't go on NCL again unless it is an unbelievable good deal.

  10. Hi, To answer your question for one person on a btob cruise you can bring 2 bottles of wine,in your carry on bag. Just to be on the safe side, have both boarding passes with you. Hope this helps. Kendra P.S. I'm on a btob Carnival Dream cruise-Oct.4th and Oct.25th and plan on bringing 2 bottles of wine.

  11. Hi Welcome to cruise critic. Whatever cruises you take make sure you sign up for the cruise's roll call,on cruise critic. You will be able to meet via the roll call some of the people that will be on your cruise. Also sometimes there is a meet and greet where you get to meet some of these people. Sometimes there is a cabin crawl, slot pull, etc. too.

  12. Hi, Just a bit of info. The bottomless bubbles and cheers packages can be purchased the first day aboard the ship, and the next day following. The first day is a bit more expensive because you have to pay additional taxes. If someone gets the bottomless bubbles a good drink to make is a root beer float-get a root beer with little ice in it,sip a little, then add vanilla soft serve ice cream. Yummy for those who like root beer floats! Kendra

  13. Hi My very first cruise in the fall,1981 was on the Rotterdam (HAL) with Singleworld. Had a great time! Enjoyed Bermuda so much, took a Singleworld cruise to there the next year. Now many years later I am finally going back to Bermuda this fall on Carnival Dream.

  14. Hi- For a really nice lunch,Antoine's has a 3 course lunch for $20.15,and might still have 3 small orange mango martini's for 25 cents each. You can get a tour of the restaurant after the lunch. I spent about $25.00,including tax and tips, and it was well worth it. Normally Antoine's is very expensive! I savored every bite of my lunch, and plan on going again on Oct. 3rd. Kendra P.S. no reservations required, but you might want to ask.

  15. Hi HonestGuy, I am on your Oct.4th Dream cruise.,also onOct.15th Dream cruise. I am in my mid 60's and have a late dinner sitting. Carnival usually for the fixed dinner times has younger(probably you) and older singles tables. You will have a lot of fun on Carnival! There are some other solos on the Oct. 4th roll call, but I don't know their ages. Bye for now,Kendra P.S. What is your name?
